I only see Dr. M 1X/year for my neuropathy. I could go on for awhile about the doc and his staff, but will be brief. He is professional, he is kind, he listens, he answers my questions slowly, so understandable for a lay person like myself, he is not in any sort of rush for the next patient, I arrived 15 minutes before scheduled appointment, I saw him right on time. We have experienced a trend of over booking which is abusive, disrespectful, irresponsible and clearly unprofessional. With waiting room experiences from 40 minutes to 60+ minutes after a scheduled appointment is just unacceptable. There are other please for a patient to go that will be treated with at least a modicum of respect. This isn't Canada. read more

I have been dealing with hand and head tremors for awhile, and got a referral for Four Peaks Neurology from my primary care. Fortunately my diagnosis is for essential tremor, and is treatable with relatively cheap medication. I recommend them for neurological problems. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Arlen for many years. I have seen her patient care manner decline greatly over the last 15 years. I brought a letter from my psychiatrist who practices right across the breezeway from Four Peaks Neurology. Same floor, same address. Dr. Arlen had never heard of them. Literally 40 steps away from her practice's front door. She wouldn't read my letter that I had requested from my psychiatrist to summarizing briefly what I needed from her. Dr. Arlen said during my visit, "I don't read letters!". Incredibly rude. I replied that "the letter is three sentences!" Three sentences! How crabby! She wanted to research a new nasal ketamine drug for adverse side effects, which she did. I was waiting for her recommendations on this specific drug which took several days to US Mail to me. This practice doesn't use technology to the fullest. Dr. Arlen isn't very technologically inclined. I received her recommendation blurb buried within an old visit dated several years prior. It was highlighted, if I recall, but it was very confusing to understand. One thing that made me very upset in her blurb was she chastised me for not returning to my clinical neuropsychologist within six months to one year. But Dr. Kristi Husk forwards her annual evaluation report directly to Dr. Arlen without fail. The last report stated that I did not need to return for another evaluation for 18-24 months. The 24 month timeline hadn't approached yet, but Dr. Arlen does NOT read letters, nor reports from other coordinating doctors, it clearly seems. She is NOT the neurologist for me! I am transferring to another neurologist currently. I do NOT recommend Dr. Arlen for neurology services. For the same visit above: My new health insurance verified this practice was not in my network, but the front staff proved that they are. This practice fails to inform the health insurance companies if they are continuing to accept their plans each year, which creates a huge amount of ambiguity for the patient. This is the responsibility of the practice to convey that they are contracted with each plan. Their practice isn't listed in any provider directory for patients to know if the practice is in-network. Huge inconvenience for patients, especially if you have many different specialists within healthcare. I read more

Left a voicemail to cancel appointment well in advance. When I called back to reschedule, they claimed to never have gotten the message. Instead of giving me the benefit of the doubt, they said they won't take me as a patient. Fine. Double down on your mistake. But the level of rudeness was unprecedented and uncalled for. I've been a patient with For Peaks Neurology since I moved to Phoenix 8 years ago. I work with Dr. Moschonas and Donna Dundon. It's been a very positive experience. I've found both Dr. Moschonas and Donna Dundon to be very up front and clear with the tests/procedures that may be undertaking, as well as any results from those tests. I am at that point in life where my brain doesn't always work quite the way it used to, and so their clear explanations have been really helpful. Given my age and health, I've also explored different studies exploring some of the 'changes' I am experiencing. I always run them by Dr. Dr. Moschonas to make sure they study is valid and well planned, and he's been very quick to get back to me with his opinions. I have also completed more in-depth testing with Dr. Blais to get a 'baseline' of my neurological health. She's also been really clear and upfront with what the tests are about and what the outcomes show. read more

wow wth is with all the negative reviews? members of my family as well as myself have used this office for help with a variety of conditions for a few decades the staff was always helpful and courtious and Dr M was so caring and concerned about every patient. He listens to there concerns and looks for options for the patient. Donna is very good at explaining test results and answering questiojs. there have been a few times when the wait was long but generally not a problem. I had a great experience. Dr. Porto did my initial work up and covered a lot of bases to ensure nothing was missed. Dr. Moschonas and Dundon FNP did a fabulous job with my nerve testing/diagnostics and even stayed later to answer all my questions and concerns. I had to wait a bit for my appt but this is common at most doctors offices and was worth it as they took their time with me. Two visits now for a relative. First visit was with the big man, Dr Moschonas. He was kind while administering his tests. Didn't make my relative feel badly, even though most of the answers being given were wrong. Seemed thorough with a good manner. Second visit was with the LPN for Dr Moschonas. Went over MRI results, and some general discussion. Overall I was pleased with this medical office. The only annoying thing can be calling to make an appointment, or to discuss something. More than once I had to leave a message, and then called back anyway when no one returned my message. But the Doc is great. read more

The most important thing in the care of a patient is CARING for the patient..You've really got to care about them as a person, not as a statistic or somebody that you are going to bill or somebody that's one of a number of people. I am disgusted with Four Peaks Neurology. I waited several months for an appointment. My appointment was scheduled for 2pm. I took time off from work to attend. I received multiple text reminders for the visit. I arrived early as requested. When arrived, I was informed my appointment was canceled. The RUDE receptionist stated, " you didn't get the text? Will have to reschedule ". She was arguing with me and insisted a text was sent. Receptionist was totally unprofessional and did not seem to care that I drove 1 hour and took time off work. I promptly left. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS OFFICE. Fast forward-I received a text at 4pm that appt was cancelled. How do you send a cancellation notice 2 hours after my scheduled appt. The front desk/office staff are a disgrace. This practice cares more about their rules, policies and procedures than their patients. After being in the hospital last week and on the recommendation of the hospital personnel, an appointment was made for a follow up with the neurologist, Dr Fern Arlen for my 87 year old mother. A very nice and efficient scheduler, Debbie, made the appointment for 1045am and told my mother to be there at 1030am to fill in paperwork. Arriving early at 1015a, we were 30 minutes ahead of schedule. It took my mom a while to fill it in and at 1045 they said she was too slow on her paperwork and they were too busy so she has to reschedule. Who has ever had a doctor's office do that?! They either send it in advance or tell you finish before you leave etc. When speaking with the manager Katie, she just tried to argue. We would NEVER go back to that office. Don't recommend it. By the way, a note on their paperwork states that " Zero Tolerance Policy: FPN has a Zero Tolerance Policy to verbal, physical or psychological abuse of FPN Staff and/or Physicians." Clearly, they upset people with their practice and lack of patient care and concern. read more

I took my parent to an appointment recently and was extremely disappointed by the service we received from woman working the reception desk. Upon entering, we complied with their ongoing mask requirement and approached the desk to check in. She said nothing and simply pointed to the tall stand next the counter saying loudly, "I need to get your temperatures before you can go back." After this, as my parent and I walked across the small, crowded waiting area to take a seat. The woman then shouted across the room, "Are you vaccinated?" This is an obvious HIPAA privacy violation and absolutely no one else's business. I continued to help my parent find a seat when another customer walked in to ask the woman at the desk a question. She loudly said to him, "I can't understand you." He tried again and she said one more time, "I can't hear you." He finally responded, "I know because I'm wearing this stupid mask you made me put on" and he left, obviously frustrated and probably embarrassed because none of us could avoid hearing the exchange. A few minutes later an older couple walked in, quietly checked in with the woman at the front desk and sat down. Within a few minutes, this older couple was called back. The front desk woman had not asked for their temperatures to be taken nor did she publicly ask their vaccination status. I was irritated at the hypocrisy, but happy for them - it's the way it should be for everyone. I take my parent to many, many medical appointments and we have never experienced anything like this from a front office employee. Medical information is personal and private. When we sign in for appointments, we appreciate when the front office people respectfully and quietly speak with us without involving the entire waiting area with our personal business. The appointment with the medical staff ultimately went fine and we both like the doctor, but the way we were treated in the front office has us searching for a new provider. read more

I must say I'm a bit startled by the negative reviews. My experience with 4 Peaks has been excellent. The staff has always been cordial - not friendly, but very professional. The doctor(s) (I had one) and nurses always did a great job of listening. Lots of listening, which is a rarity. They never overpromise and are thoughtful and helpful. There are long waits, but you find this at most good Neurology offices. Neurology is as much an art as a science, and I have found the people at 4 Peaks to be very intelligent and realistic. I just tried to make an appointment with a specific doctor and founder of Four Peaks Neurology. However, from the moment the appointment person answered the phone, everything went down hill. Everything that came out of this person's mouth didn't really make any sense. She said, "is #### the last four digits of your number?" What!? What number? It sounded familiar, but it wasn't my social security number, it was an insurance number, it was an address, it wasn't phone number. Then, after giving her all of my insurance information, she said,"We don't have a letter from anyone for you." Again, I needed further clarification. I've know 3rd graders who were better communicators. As it turned out, one needs a referral to see doctors in this practice. Oops... a HUGE RED FLAG. This is known as the corporatization of medical care, which to me is a huge problem. It reflects on a practice that does not address individual needs, nor one that takes their missions as healthcare PROVIDERS seriously. They are more interested in doing what is convenient to them rather than to what is needed by the patients. This is a pathological problem that has been spreading across all parts of our society. But, then, to top off this, I said, "That's really a bad policy." And, she replied in an extremely nasty and condescending tone, "Well, maybe you don't belong in this practice!" I said, "I can't believe you just said that." She continued with her condescending rant and I hung up. My advice, if you like being subservient and not being in control of your own healthcare, go here. If you like being in control of your healthcare and like being treated like a real human being, AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. read more

I couldn't pay my copay and asked if they could bill me. The receptionist said they don't bill for copays, that I had to pay at the time of service, but she would ask the office manager. The OM said no. So I said "You're denying me medical care because I can't pay the copay?" The receptionist said "Yes". I have serious questions about the financial situation and stability of Four Peaks Neurology since they could not wait two-days to collect $25. Crooks. Charged my medicare almost a year after visit so, in accordance with provider agreement, AARP United Healthcare denied payment since THEY violated their contractual agreement. They sicked a collection agency on me so, per instructions from Medicare who informed me they were in violation of their guidelines, I lodged a formal complaint and also did so with AARP. They also don't believe in answering their phone as I tried for WEEKS to contact them only to get messages they were closed. I ALWAYS called during their office hours and they are only supposed to be unavailable between noon and 1:30 - their lunch time. I finally called DURING their lunch hour on the hope I'd reach an answering service. I was told by Ethan they are only allowed to take messages to cancel appointments!!! Geez. read more

First visit was with the big man, Dr Moschonas. Who I really liked. I was prescribed a litany of lab tests several it turns out I did not need for my neuropathy. A visit to the office involved an incident with a staff member who is so rude. Ordering me to sit down. Outside ordering me to put my mask on. I'm 76 not 6. She was totally out of line. My lab result follow up was not with the doctor. But his LPN. Who informed me I might have blood cancer ... etc ...This is not the role of the nurse. This was not substantiated in anyway. Only scaring the hell out of me. Just padding the bill as I see it. I went to the rheumatologist they recommended who asked why I was there. Did a blood test. No blood cancer. My doctors in California were shocked and even laughed at the gauntlet of lab tests I was being put through. That said ... I should have seen the Dr Moschonas on my follow up. Not his nurse. I paid a co-pay to see her. Not the doctor. Very disappointed. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE!!! Try Dr. Reese in Scottsdale. read more

He then moved to Tucson and saw a well respected neurologist who did a dat scan that CONFIRMED HE DOES NOT have Parkinson's. PEOPLE BE AWARE BEFORE GOING TO THIS CLINIC!!!!! read more

First things first, I totally get why the wait times are so long. I waited 50min to go into the room, another 10 for the nurse. They really sit with you and ask you to tell your whole story in your own words, which is good! The check in lady was really nice and patient with me. The nurse practitioner was working with me when I struggled to find my words and I totally thought she was a doctor. I'm not sure if they can do much for me because my brain scans are showing normal but they did help explain my symptoms. After I saw the doctor I felt really at ease, he came highly recommended and normally I'm very skeptical about doctors and the medical field in general. However they really wanted to hear my case and asked if I preferred medication or a scan or what. My case is kind of an anomaly so I chose no meds. He also insured me I could still drive legally as that was major concern. read more

These reviews could not be more spot on. If I could give this practice negative Stars I Would. I don't even know why they exist as a practice when they clearly don't want to help people. Even the office manager Katie is just as AWFUL as everyone else. It is clear where everyone is learning their coaching tools from, because she clearly has no people skills. I have been waiting for months for an appointment to get in. I then find out the Doctor I have been waiting to see is leaving the practice (the only Dr with good reviews). But since all my paperwork has already been sent to this practice I decide to move forward with another Doctor. When I Call to change an appointment, I am threatened, that I can not return because I am no longer allowed to reschedule my appointment, If that is an office policy- then why are they not telling patients that? They get some sick pleasure in telling people they cant come back. The morning of my appointment they call ME to tell me the DR had an emergency and that I can not be seen (funny how it's okay for them to cancel on me last minute, but I couldn't change 72 hours in advance). When they offer to reschedule me, due to THEIR conflict- it is ANOTHER MONTH before i can be seen, this is a NEUROLOGY office, people are coming here for HELP, they don't have MONTHS to wait for another appointment, if they are rescheduling you because of something on THEIR end, they get you in ASAP, not a month later. When I proceeded to ask to office manager (KATIE) more questions she said she needed to know now when I wanted to reschedule because she needed to "hurry up and get off the phone." How insulting. Where in management training do they teach you that one? AS someone who works in the medical field, I am astonished that they have the audacity to speak to patients this way. They should be ashamed of themselves, and I am also going to report them to the medical board for negligence. Shame on you four peaks. read more

Like numerous others, i would give 4 Peaks Neurology negative stars!!!! I saw Dr Arlen in Nov of 2016, she came highly rated as the best in the area, and today I am STILL AWAITING results of my tests. I spent maybe 10 minutes with Dr Arlen who was the least communicative of any Doctor I have ever seen. I went for an MRI days after seeing Dr Arlen and to this day nobody has recalled me to discuss. This office has no care for their patients, no communication and terrible overall care in my opinion, which seems echoed by many. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I was going on the 3rd day in a row of having a migraine for the first time in my life. The awful woman I spoke with refused to schedule me with a neurologist until I had a referral or medical records about headaches. I explained that my medical plan does not require referrals to a specialist and that there weren't any records for migraines because I have never had one. She proceeded to harass me for why I hadn't gone to the ER for my headache. The ER is expensive not that it's any of her business why I chose not to go to the ER. Sh e was beyond rude, inconsiderate, unprofessional, condescending, and single handedly turned me off to ever seeking help from Four Peaks Neurology. I will NEVER go there and will be sure to let everyone I know aware of my AWFUL experience! read more

I have Been a patient of Dr. Arlen's for 15 years. I have great reviews for her. Unfortunately her new assistant Alicia has a little bit to be desired. Sure do miss Matt. Just had hip replacement surgery, and was having major migraines from the pain medication and just needed a little help with suggestions for pain medication that would not lead to a migraine. I was told by her new assistant Alicia, to go to the emergency room on a week day. Not very helpful. read more

The office staff in this office is horrendous. I had an appointment scheduled in June and received numerous reminders of same. I actually responded three times that I needed to cancel and reschedule. Soon after that I received a bill IN ERROR for $50.00 for a missed appointment. I notified the office and indicated that I would not pay such bill since & I offered proof that I had cancelled my appointment and the office staff totally disregarded this. Since that time, I have received several payment reminders and two weeks ago, I sent a personal letter to Dr. Porto and this was totally ignored - no response. I am not even sure if Dr. Porto saw the letter. Dr. Porto is a competent physician but the office staff is absolutely rude, inefficient and based on other reviews I have read, is having a very negative effect on this practice. In addition, if I keep receiving invoices related to this matter (which will negatively affect my credit rating), I will have to take further action. Stay away from Four Peaks Neurology. read more
