Once middle school starts, the environment shift's drastically. I have also learned most teachers here aren't qualified. Parkview teaches their own perspective of what a Christian should be, and quite frankly, that is very unprofessional. The lower campus is growing mold, the upper campus sells expired sodas, chips, and other treats. Last year was parkviews downfall after they hired a principle by the name of Kerri mccastland. The principle only showed up about 5 times a month, if that. The days she would show up, she would yell at students at a voice not even a mother could scream at her child with, and the way she would try and "resolve" problems was very inappropriate for a principal. She would bring the student into the office and talk to them in a tone so unprofessional, it was as if the student was talking to their peers. At the end of the discussion, there was no discipline, it was as if she just wanted to yell at them with the student getting no point across, just getting yelled at. When students tried reporting something, instead of resolving it, it would be a one sided argument. They're was a front desk employee named Mary Ellen West, she was always gossiping with the principle, locked in the office, and often times students would sit in the lobby, waiting for them to finish gossiping. If you are a fresh high school graduate do not expect help from any department. I recommend going to Morraine or GSU if at all possible and avoid JJC at all costs.

We had a wonderful tour by Paige. I went back the next day for an aqua fitness class. It was great. Paige is very good at teaching this class. We did exercises that I didn't even know you could do with pool noodles. The facility is nice and clean while locker rooms were great. We checked out the events that they had coming up one being a sound bath the other float flex which they show movies and you can float on a float in the pool fun things to do with your family. It's a great perk for the Joliet area. If you get a chance, take a tour try out of class. The staff is very helpful on accommodating.

Overal ONU has maintained their motto of Education with a Christian Purpose! ONU has built some beautiful new campus buildings over the years but seem to have neglected upkeep and updates of the housing and food quality for students. Each move-in for our student has taken over an hour to clean the room-yet they expect the students to leave the rooms in spotless condition. The common areas of the lobby has furniture that looks similar to the same furniture that has been there for decades. ONU needs to invest in making sure these dorms for the heart of the school, the students, are looking just as updated as the outter appearance of the campus.

Let me start my first review by saying "I cannot recommend this school enough"!!!!!! As a first time mom, I was extremely anxious about sending my 3 yr old to pre school; she herself had some social anxiety and did not take well to new people (or children). After visiting a number of schools in the south suburbs, I felt comfortable enough after my visits to Salem to choose their program, and I'm so glad I did! My daughter has attended this school for 7 months now and LOVES the program; she has blossomed socially and truly loves her new friends and teachers. Equally as important, I am thrilled with the education she receives! In addition to learning the basics (writing her name, recognizing letters, words and numbers, music, etc.) I'm amazed at the spiritual concepts and life lessons she has learned from the teachers at this school (how many 3 year olds can talk to you about taking "personal responsibility")! The staff is so nurturing and loving to the children, all while promoting a high standard of respect and behavior with and amongst the children. My daughter who used to avoid people at all costs.....can't wait to get to school everyday and even asks why she can't spend the night! I can go to work everyday and feel totally confident that my daughter is safe, happy, and LEARNING. As soon as I found out I was pregnant with my youngest son, I immediately contacted her to get on the waiting list. It was definitely worth the wait and she's absolutely amazing with him. I will scream from the mountain tops about her praises. She goes above and beyond what the state requires for certification. My children actually learn and are not just "babysat" or played with.
