You can see the lavendar fields from the road. There is an old 1800s cabin across the driveway, so we went up there and it said it was the gift shop, but it was dark and closed. After wondering around for a bit, a gentleman came out of the house and opened the gift shop for us. He spent the next hour telling us about their business, showing us the lavendar fields and letting us shop in the gift shop. He was so kind and friendly. He said they're an LLC and used to live on a 3.5 acre property. They moved here 2 years ago for more space to expand. He and his wife run it. They hold a lavendar festival and "You Pick" each summer. Otherwise, they are hoping to open it up for weddings and events. They grow culinary lavendar and also lavendar that is used to put into the products that they sell in the gift shop. The gentleman distilles the lavendar himself on the property. They sell a variety of products in the gift shop, buy also have their products in some of the stores in New Harmony and Evansville. They have dried lavendar, essential oil, shampoo, bath bubbles, lotion, bug spray, bath salts, soaps, and more. All reasonably priced too. I don't think they keep regular hours for the gift shop since it's right on their property. So either call the phone # to ask about a visit, or just show up before dark and knock on the house door. They're french lavendar smalls AMAZING! I recommend their lavendar essential oil and the roller ball (which is lavendar oil mixed with coconut oil). Appathey also have the 2nd oldest tree in the US on their property (it was dated).

I totally enjoyed my visit to The Seedlings U pick flower farm for a Farm to Jar class. The drive…read morefrom Indianapolis was easy and the farm is about 10 minutes off of 69's exit for Sample rd. right before you get to Bloomington. When I arrived to the farm the first thing that I did was cover myself in bug spray and I didn't have any issues the entire hour and a half. Laura the owner greeted me instantly and introduced herself and how she got started with her business while we waited for everyone to arrive. We begun the class at a picnic table setup with a beautiful floral arrangement, sheers for cutting flowers, water because it was hot, 1 large, and 1 small mason jar. We were told the large jar was for ourselves and the small jar was for a friend:) Laura guided us through the rows of flowers telling us how much to pick and how to determine what was ready to pick. We picked the flowers in groups of three or five and all of the arrangements looked beautiful. I would definitely recommend checking out the farm any morning or evening to pick some fresh cut flowers when available, joining a class, or booking flower arrangements for your next event.

After a drive outside of town, we found the farm easily with Google maps, but overshot the drive. As we turned around we could see some of the flower fields and we're so excited... Walking up to the main building, where the sweet owner, Laura, and her family live, she mentioned the sunflowers were over the hill. As we walked the short distance we couldn't believe our eyes when we saw the sea of sunnies! They were gorgeous and so tall. At least five different types that we counted while wandering through the forest and cutting blooms to take home. We also enjoyed the zinnias and other blooms to walk through and pick. The flowers are beautiful, but so is the story and spirit of the owner. Take some time to chat with her and you will be uplifted! Our blooms lasted well over a week and we will be back. The five year old with us loved every minute of it, but I think the adults enjoyed it more. Oh, we also got to walk by the cows, goats, and sheep for some extra entertainment. If you can't make it out to the farm for an event, she makes appearances in her Seedlings truck around town at markets and special events. We even saw her in front of Switchyard brewery recently!

I loved walking through the rows and rows of trees -- White Pine, Scotch Pine, Norway Spruce, Fraser Fir, and Blue Spruce. Wreaths are also available. We selected a Fraser Fir (our first time with this type of tree) and loved the shorter, tighter, almost soft needles and of course a fresh tree smell that can't be beat! The pricing for a tree was very reasonable, averaging 7-$10/ft for most trees and the staff will cut, shake, trim and bale the tree for you -- they can get the trees shockingly compact for transport! The staff was so friendly, which made the experience even better. When it's not Christmastime, the farm seasonally supplies pumpkins and winter squash, Indian Corn, Chrysanthemums, Straw, and live ball & burlap trees to the tri-state area with Fall Harvest events with activities for families as well as educational tours available.* The Goebel Family are the 2nd and 3rd generations to be farming at their current farm location, raising Corn, Soybeans, Wheat, Pumpkins and Christmas Trees.* *taken from the website
