Very pleased with Fowler's Roofing. They helped me in an emergency after a storm then later reshingled our roof. When you call, there's always a helpful person answering, never a recording. Response time on the emergency was quick, work was quality, cost was reasonable. Very professional all the way around. I agree with prior reviews that it took a while to get scheduled for the reroofing project, but nothing outrageous. They're busy, which is a good sign. read more

I do not recommend them for performing concrete work. I paid $7,500.00 three years ago to have a new basement bulkhead installed and underlying concrete that had crumbled repaired. It now (three years later) looks worse than when I hired them and it is leaking water in my basement. In addition, the bulkhead was not even screwed into the house. They simply sealed the gap with caulking. I feel taken advantage of. The company hired by Fowler's to perform the work inspected my issue and blamed me for the deterioration. They were to get back to me for a remedy and I never heard from them since the inspection. read more

This roofing company came to my home to provide pricing for roof repairs to address several holes. After the work was approved, they unexpectedly changed their pricing, and once I agreed to the revised amount, they ignored my calls for several days. They eventually showed up unannounced and performed very poor-quality work. The repairs were sloppy, they left screws scattered around the property, failed to clean up after themselves, and even threw debris into the backyard. Overall, the experience was extremely unprofessional. Do not hire this company. read more

I loved the first $20,000 project this company did for us. The two man crew involved us in every step and were very communicative. The office staff was very attentive and personable. so much so that we hired them to replace our roof and chimney. A crew of 11 men that didn't speak english showed up in the morning and literally descended upon the house without speaking to either me or my husband. We attempted to greet them and we were just given blank stares. They covered the house with tarps...we couldn't see out or go outside. once they were done ripping off the old roof, we could see. There was roofing material and nails everywhere, a man was using our hot tub cover to walk across and there was black roofing material goo left on my leased vehicle. They finished, gathered up and left. The house and garage done within 4 hours. They loaded a lot of unused material in the van and I wonder now if they even did what they were supposed to. There were places that looked wrong on the roof but I gave it time to "settle" before calling the office. I had to reach out four times before the estimate guy came out to try and convince us there wasn't an issue. We insisted the areas be fixed. Some days or weeks later a man who didn't speak English showed up well after he was scheduled to in an unmarked vehicle and sat in the driveway for nearly 45 min. The office called me as a Fowlers truck pulls in with another guy and a 4ish year old child that was running around my yard and then left on the front deck to play with nails and shingles. The two "fixed" the spots of the roof again, saying nothing to us at all. The office was notified that having a child on a worksite is dangerous and irresponsible. If something had happened, they could sue us. Fast forward to last night when it began dripping heavily into our kitchen which is on the 1st floor. No other reason for this ceiling leak so I call the roofing company. They messaged me at 9pm saying they would call me. 8 am the next morning I get an email saying they were trying to get out here. Few phone calls and emails later, the same estimate guy comes out and is immediately confrontational because he had to come on a Saturday. He looked as if he had not seen roof leaks before and the only solution was to tarp the roof even though he said it wouldn't help and may cause more damage with adding more holes. It was agreed no tarp. It was heated for a bit because he was not helpful at all as an employee of the company and was taking everything personally. Long story short, we were all calm and had a game plan for moving forward and he called the office and we were made out to be confrontational racists that refused to let him tarp the roof. What I had actually said was "you do whatever fix that protects you and your company and I will deal with what's next on Monday" I have been overly polite this entire time and as calm as possible even today when I was disrespected in my own home, in turn setting off my disabled veteran husband. This is when it got heated. Overall, we were both treated horribly as a customer by a company representative that wanted no responsibility or part in what was happening. $15000 paid immediately after the job was done for this roof to proactively eliminate leaking and now I have more potential property damage than I had with the initial leak. The office was no longer nice and told me that nothing will be done until next week when the "higher ups" come back and that they are very aware of the situation. You know, where I was a racist and was asking very common roof leak questions. Like...what is your plan? Next up, lawyer. Don't use Fowlers. read more

As for Fowlers they subbed my job out, and lied that my new skylights would be installed by a certified Velux installer, and estimate and contract different in price. And what was disappointing is no one came after the job was done to see if it was up to standards. Update, they removed 2 skylights and the plywood thickness was not the same as the rest of the roof, so I have dips where they were once, all in all of what I inspected they did a horrible job, they cut so many corners they are nothing but crooks. Said they put 4 ft of ice shield on in reality I have a 2 ft overhang so the ice shield is only 2 ft on the house, and never have they reached out to me with all the bad reviews I've left. Fowler's roofing DOES NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTIES!. Avoid this company at all cost!! I have had 5 jobs done at my home over the last three years, two roofing and three general construction - every one has developed issues! on one I had a roof leak that destroyed part of my kitchen ceiling due to a weather boot that the workers had cut wrong and filled a wide gap with silicone instead of getting another boot. the boot leaked badly within two years and Fowler's wanted $650.00 to repair just the leak-- the ceiling they wouldn't even look at. I had my roof replaced by Fowler Roofing. The crew showed up and did not speak any English and had no Forman that I had spoke with here. The shingles where lifted up in some areas and when I let the person know he looked at it and slammed a nail it it! my roof has leaked ever sense. Had to have another retired builder patch the work. Had pictures taken while exposing's the poor workmanship where there where 5 NAIL HOLES in 1 spot. There was no ICE AND WATER SHIELD used but a much lower version of it. When I had a meeting with the owner he was very condescending to me and the contractor by saying we don't know what we are talking about. he would not acknowledge the photos'. He then chased us out of the building and threatened the other person by saying " YOU WANT TO GO AT IT OLD MAN" and pointing at his chest. When I posted on his sight on my house he deleted my comments and replaced it with his fake ones. When this was posted on Facebook he followed and and told my family and friends that I again did not know what I was talking about. BUT WHEN a friend stated that I should put this on YELP the owner called me within 1 minute LOL and offered to pay me for the repairs. But said it is not a admission of guilt! I hired a reputable builder to do the job right. The Augusta Chamber Of Commence needs to really look at this very poor bribing company for the company that they really are. Substandard and P.S. other Roofers stated they have to repair a lot of Fowler Roofing's Work. We felt this was one of the worst contractor experiences we have ever had, and wish we had seen the poor reviews on Yelp before engaging Fowler's Roofing in Gardiner/Chelsea Maine. The entire experience was stressful, we felt we had to keep a constant eye on both the Fowler's project manager and the workers they subbed the job out to. We saw the subcontractor trying to cut corners, like not bothering to lay down ice and water shield over newly laid boards. The Fowler's project manager didn't cut the fascia boards properly, neglected to give the subs the flashing for the skylights he had just installed, and seemed unable to manage the sub contractor; he was visibly fighting with them. The proposal said they would include a roof ridge vent "if applicable" and we belatedly discovered 'if applicable' was totally at their discretion. In the pre-proposal inspection they could see that a ridge vent was cut and visible from inside the attic, and that the previous roofing job hadn't incorporated the ridge vent. Once they began work they informed us that they would not include the ridge vent unless we paid extra to put it in. The sub contractor also initially refused to do one of the three ornamental rooves because it had wooden shingles on it, where the other two had asphalt shingles. During the project a course of action was recommended to us which, based upon our experience with similar jobs we've had done by several other roofing professionals, we felt was not absolutely necessary. We proposed an alternative, which they agreed to, and only when they sent us the bill did they inform us that because we didn't take their advice, they reneged on their 10 year labor warranty, with no prior notice to us. We had the most discouraging, unprofessional, experience with Fowlers Roofing. We hired them to paint our older standing seam metal roof. Their estimate outlined the scope of work to be done-"Alumacoat roof, scrape rust and apply two coats". When the workers came over my husband had given me several questions to ask them. One question my husband asked, "How many coats of paint are you applying?" to which they answered "one". When I asked them about the "two coats" quoted from the estimate, the workers informed me that Alumacoat only requires one coat, two coats would cause "leafing", which is a separation between coats. The next day I called Fowlers and asked to speak with the estimator. Our thinking was that one coat would not require as much labor or product, so the estimate price could be adjusted. Instead the woman I left the msg. With called the workers instead!? Consequently they got very defensive with me about the one coat. I explained we were not disputing the one coat, we were disputing the price of the estimate! Wow, I can't believe the office girl got the workers involved! Well we drove to their office and asked to speak to the estimator but we were told by another office girl that he was never available! Wow, really? She was extremely rude. Someone contacted my husband to inform him that the estimate price was correct and they were not going to adjust it. This, my friend, is the most unprofessional behavior I have ever experienced. We never felt so scammed. Never hire this company unless you enjoy being treated badly and over charged! read more

We called Fowlers when we saw our ceiling had some water damage from a leak in the roof. Their guy promptly came out, took some pictures and told us what he thought was wrong. That was on Friday. As he left he said somebody would call us with an estimate. He couldn't tell me when they would call...We waited until Monday and when nobody contacted us, we called them. I was told they were very busy and apologized. Told me I would have an estimate Tuesday morning emailed to me. I waited until afternoon...still nothing.I called and was told the excuse that the guy didn't submit the paperwork until Monday and basically blamed him. Wednesday afternoon...still nothing. I called another company that came out within the hour, gave us an estimate and started work the next morning! Then of course I finally get an estimate from Fowlers...What a way to do business...I would never treat a customer like that and expect them to have any confidence in the work being done. read more

Mine was a similar experience to the prior review. We actually did get a quote for a standing seam steel roof for an addition to our house. We were on their "book" but not their "schedule. Months went by. The entire project was being held up because they couldn't get out to install the roof. Our contractor called and called, we were promised next week and then the next week, then the next. Finally, they came and did a great job - hence the three stars. I understand that there is a labor shortage and that rain has hampered a lot of work, but some communication would be really helpful in these situations. Honestly, a little communication, and I would have given them five stars. read more
