But this is just in fitting with the relaxed slightly quirky nature of the place. In terms of surroundings it reminds me a students bedroom with a slightly ethnic feel, and in fitting with this the toilets are freezing in winter! Food wise it's 'proper veggie', all cooked in front of you in the small kitchen in the same room as you eat. The meals are always plentiful, and have always left me happy. The service is always very Malcolm, who is the industrious owner/ chef who zips around the kitchen keeping the operation rolling. Whilst I've always felt the place could descend into chaos at any moment it's clearly all mapped out in Malcolm's head and the food always ends up in front of you. You take your own alcohol, and if you forget there is an off license in the same block of shops where cafe nomad is. We went for coffee and after waiting some minutes which was OK as they seemed busy, the waiter served three couples who had arrived after us and ignored us. This may have been because we were squashed into a corner and he couldn't get to us without disturbing other clients. The tables are far too close together. We eventually had to call him and ordered camomile tea and a dry cappuccino. These duly arrived. The tea was lovely; fresh not teabag and in a teapot. The coffee?! Well, actually the flavour was good. But it wasn't even a normal cappuccino let alone a dry one. It was the sort of milky coffee my mum would have loved! Then I had to clamber through the doors into the main area to use the toilet as I coldn't get out! They were only OK. A very noisy air flow unit and not spotless. Oh, and they weren't busy either- only 6 or so people! They haven't been open long so I will give it another go soon. I wish new places would offer a review card. I was far too frustrated to ask to talk to anyone! xx

Especially as when we walked down the stairs, (on a Sunday afternoon) to the small basement shop, we were greeted by a huge queue! Now,I'd read about doughnotts from a vegan blog about the amazing range of vegan donuts that they offer and this spiked my interest, so the next time I was in Nottingham I made sure to try some of their delights. I'm not a vegan so tried their basic donuts of red velvet, chocolate and plain at a bargain of 3 for £5. They also do some super fancy premumium donuts that are slightly more expensive but looked absolutely spectacular! The donuts were absolutely delicious and were just as soft and tasty as the obvious big chain competitors. It also feels great to support a local business and I'm so pleased to hear that they have now opened another store in Derby. And before you ask... it's not called Doughderby. Thank goodness they've stuck with the name Doughnotts (which I love by the way). I donut know where else you could get a donut as good as here.

Tuna, salmon, a few rolls -- nothing that's going to blow you away, but that's not really the point here. It's all about the experience. I took my kids and they absolutely loved it -- grabbing plates off the belt, trying new things. It's a great way to introduce them to sushi without it being too serious or expensive. Perfect for a first date if you don't want to spend a fortune on a maybe. The vibe is fun, the staff is super friendly and helpful, and for kids? 10 out of 10. I'm leaving it there. Cool spot. Lots of fun. It's a winner for me.

Loved this little cafe…read more If you are looking for a place to eat a nice and filling Breakfast, this is your place. Wraps, sandwiches, full english breakfast... you name it. All fresh and made in front of you. Vegan and vegetarian options are available and they make delicious hot chocolate and coffee! We ordered the full english breakfast, vegetarian version, and it was delicious. Pretty big and cheap! If you are around Nottingham and don't know where to go, Hartley's is a really good option! :)
