New Club House, Pro Shop, Brickwood Restaurant & Bar, Top Tracer driving range, practice putting green and 'Turn' snack shack. The course is great, greens are in great condition but a bit slow compared to what I'm used to. Over all a great experience with a great staff to assist with the 'bag drop' check in at the Pro Shop & The Turn snack bar. Today, I had the Turkey, Bacon and Ranch panini at The Turn. The Brickwood Restaurant & Bar is closed Mon & Tues. A top tier facility from Bag Drop to Cart Return. It's almost an hour south of Charlotte so there's that but if you're willing to make the drive, you'll be rewarded.

The picture…read morethat I posted of the lake was probably the best part of the course, and it was only there as scenery and luckily did not come in to play at all (unless you're a REALLY bad shot). I know this course has seen some new ownership in the past few years, and some heavy rains / flooding have altered parts of the course which results in a need for major repairs, but on the other hand, the course just didn't seem to be all that taken care of. Out of my foursome, one of the two golf carts had a drained battery within 4 holes. Also, to nitpick just a little bit, for a course to be named The Palms Course, there were not a lot of Palms, and many many more Pines. On a positive note, the food in the clubhouse was really good, as this was a tournament that fed us lunch prior to game play, so I have no complaints about the food at all.

4/18/2015 Great…read morelayout. Even better condition. Greens roll true and fairways are well kept. Price is average. When the course is in condition it is now, the price is worth the round. I give three stars because customer service can be improved. Unfortunately due to reoccurring confrontations with a couple of the power tripping Rangers out here, I am inclined to only give 3 stars for this potentially 5 star course on local scale. I play golf often in the Florence area. Traces has always been an option, but myself and my golfing buddies are at a point to take our patronage to other courses due to how we have been confronted on a few occasions.

A Friend that was playing with was doing the same with the extra due to have 2 little one with his wife. Attitude was given by Ron again due to the extra cart. When leave was addressed to play 4 ahead and 2 behind to keep pace of play after starting we swapped and I would hit the the wife would hit the next shot and same for the other couple to keep pace. Kept seeing Ron roaming the coarse stalking us watching. After 3rd time of seeing him he came and said I have rain checks for you and you need to leave after this hole and blamed it on pace of play as we pointed to the players on the tee box waiting for the people in front of them I laughed and said we're keeping up look then he turned it around and said was now the kids are running around but our kids never left the carts beside 1 time on cart path to get a sandwich From the cart 3 yards away. After explaining to him that this isn't right and your not being truthful he didn't like that and told me to leave as my buddy talks to him and is de-escalating the situation that him having a attitude with all of us since arrival. I said boo-hoo about leaving after a minute or two of him talking to my friend finally as his wife was leaving with their kids he decided to leave and not come around anymore. I understand if we did not keep up with pace of play, had obnoxious kids, Kids running around on the green or even on the course. This would be justifiable to tell someone leave. But none of this was going on. Such a beautiful course that was ruined by associates that are entitled to a little authority.

This course is a great value. I may be impartial since I work for the military, but the ease of…read moregetting a tee time is a winner for me. Compile that with the best driving range in Sumter, the friendly staff and the (almost ridicuously) low price for a round and/or low membership costs, I give it high overall marks. Non-military affiliated golfers can get a day pass from the gate or do a background check to get a limited access ID if they want to be a member. Additionally, the course is usually in very good shape and it is absolutely gorgeous in the spring. The course is well laid out with a diverse mix of dog-legs, varying lengths, elevation changes, and water hazards. It will give you a good challenge, especially played from the tips (610 yard par 5!). True, the greens aren't lethal fast and the carts don't have GPS in them, but think these are minor things in the grand scheme of golfing. I highly recommend it.

Was greeted by Jim Kane the PGA head professional, sent us out on the back nine. We had the course to ourselves since I don't play much. We enjoyed the course very much nice greens, some water hazards but player friendly. We will be back. Jim told us a lot of members walk the front 9. Back nine was hilly in places. There are very nice houses and lots for sale in the area. We will play here again.

Stopped in for 18 today while passing through town on a work trip. Greens were in good shape, tee…read moreboxes were spotty, and fairways were hit or miss. This front nine was pretty flat and free of major obstacles. Back nine was much more fun and challenging with many water based holes. All in all fun course and worth the $40. I spoke to a member who said the course wasn't in great shape right now, so I'm guessing in a few more months it will be stunning. Stop in the grill for great service and tasty food. DO NOT buy a cigar here, though. The humidor hydrometer was broken, and against my better judgement, I still grabbed a cigar. The Flor De Las Antilles is one of my favorite smokes - but it was so dry it cracked 3 inches up when I did the V cut. Bitter and stale - maybe nobody smokes there so they don't feel the pressure to maintain it. Anyways - I'll visit again for sure, but I'll bring my own sticks.
