Compile that with the best driving range in Sumter, the friendly staff and the (almost ridicuously) low price for a round and/or low membership costs, I give it high overall marks. Non-military affiliated golfers can get a day pass from the gate or do a background check to get a limited access ID if they want to be a member. Additionally, the course is usually in very good shape and it is absolutely gorgeous in the spring. The course is well laid out with a diverse mix of dog-legs, varying lengths, elevation changes, and water hazards. It will give you a good challenge, especially played from the tips (610 yard par 5!). True, the greens aren't lethal fast and the carts don't have GPS in them, but think these are minor things in the grand scheme of golfing. I highly recommend it.

The whole thing sets the mood for a fashionable lunch. We started with fried pickles (very salty), I had the drive-in burger with French fries. The burger and fries were good, but I think the sweet potato fry I stole off my friend's plate was better than the regular fries. The one thing I miss about this place is the pool. When they remade it, they opted not to put the pool back in. The golf and social facilities are amazing, though!

Dillon Park has come quite a long way in the last 3 years. They've put a lot of time and effort…read moreinto renovating the ball fields and the running track is nice. It's mostly unknown but there is a trailhead in the back corner of the park to a new off-road bike trail that is much more cross-country and laid back compared to those out at Manchester. With these things, the soccer fields, football field, and access to a golf course this park has activities for nearly everyone and that's good for a community. There used to also be a RC track here but I guess it was done away with when the big track off 378 was built.

When my brother who is active military and is in town from Alaska to visit before he goes on his next base in Japan asked for a military discount... The response we got was outrageous!!... Not even that we expected it, but the answer we received blew my mind!!... He laughed and said naww we don't do anything like that, but then exclaimed that he was military... With an answer the way he responded made me and my brother who have been in military association all our lives feel like we were being mocked!!... I used to visit this course regularly for the good people and hospitality!!... But apparently a lot has changed with the course and I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!!!
