Fox Pest Control - A Disappointing Experience While my interaction with the Fox Pest Control technicians was pleasant, the overall experience left much to be desired, primarily due to the poor value and aggressive upselling practices. This review reflects my attempt to find effective pest control that respects both my time and my budget. The most positive part of the service was the staff. The technicians were consistently polite, friendly, and professional during their visits. They arrived within the scheduled windows and conducted their work efficiently. However, the major issues revolve around the poor value for the money received. The cost of the contracted services felt disproportionately high compared to the pest issues addressed, and the results were not effective enough to justify the premium price tag. Furthermore, there was a noticeable tendency to up-sell additional services. For example, they wanted an additional $700 (and an additional +$30 every three months) to treat termites outdoors. For $50 and an hour of my time I took care of it myself. This is particularly irksome since I am paying a company to eliminate my pest problems. I first contacted them to remove a wasp next in a tree. They said it was cheaper to sign up for the year long service so I did. It turned out the nest was already dead when removed. Then I am on the hook for a year. Later in the summer, they came out and I explained I was having problems with wasps they spray two wasp nests. I had six other small nests I took care of myself a few days latter. After eight months of service for little on my investment I call to cancel service to discover there is a $250 cancellation fee. When all is said and done I will be out some $800 and taken care of most of my own issues anyway. In summary, Fox Pest Control has polite staff, but the combination of high costs, limited efficacy, and upselling efforts resulted in a poor perceived value. I have been a paying customer for five years, and unfortunately I'm leaving with the same problem I hired this company to solve: mice. The final straw wasn't just that the issue was never resolved--it was trying to cancel my service. Their AI phone system repeatedly hung up on me, making it nearly impossible to reach a real person. After years of paying for service, that level of customer support is incredibly disappointing. I have had Fox Pest control for about two years. I started with them for a problem with Carpenter Bees in my barn, I have a small farm in the York area. they have been great and have always showed up on time and handled the problem. Today I had a technician that I Have never had, Jason, he told me that they don't treat barns. I explained to him that they have for the past several years and he told me that he is a lead technician and that he knows they don't treat barns. I took him out and showed him where they had treated in the past, and he said they never should have done that and that they only treat homes. He acted like I was lying. I told him that I don't need this service and cancelled. meanwhile I have been paying monthly for several years. this is what we used to call Bait and Switch. very disappointed and not happy with my treatment by this technician. I called and canceled the service, the woman who assisted me, Jackie was very polite and sympathetic. She told me the she understood. NEVER AGAIN FOX! read more

He took the time and explained the do's and dont's to us and told us to call if we continue to have a problem and he would add us to his route to stop quick and service us again! He is top notch! We found a major change in Fox pest control after our initial struggles. The service has really recovered from what our initial expectations were. The technicians have been so nice and helpful when they've come out. Last technicians have explained everything with the service before and after the work was done. We appreciate it! read more

Casey was fantastic! Our first visit was because of ants on our outside patio. She was very thorough and explained what she was doing and what to look for after the treatment We had to have her come back because we found a huge wasp nest. Again, the issue was resolved and well explained. I really like that Fox is a family owned, and their customer service is outstanding. We have a No Soliciting sign which is very visible to everyone!!! The salesman still rang our door bell. I said to him did you see our sign. He responded "yes but we are not solar or any other company.". I believe "No Soliciting" is for EVERY company who does door to door sales. I said we are good and closed the door. We live in a community that does not allow soliciting. For the past three days, there has been a young man riding a hover board soliciting for Fox Pest Control. He is there all times of the day and night. When my husband took our dog out at 10 PM he was out there. Numerous residents have complained that he knocks on their door at 8:30 thru 10: 00 PM. The door to door salesman came to my house and sold me in the product when saying it was local. It isn't. I could have checked but I didn't. In the spirit of fairness and honesty, the service was quite good the first three to six months that I had it. I don't know what happened but I have more bugs coming in now than I ever had. Be warned, if you didn't read the fine print they are going to nail you for $250 for canceling your contract. Full disclosure, this is ONLY about the door to door salespeople. I have had my doorbell rung 3 times in less than 24 hours even though I had spoken to the first person and told them I wasn't interested. Saying no the first time should be the last time I hear from you. The last person I saw was a "manager" and I started the conversation with I had already declined and he still pushed and pushed. I had to cut him off and tell him I was not interested and had something on the stove. They may have good service but I'll never know because my only experience with them has been so off putting. read more

The tech/associate that got me signed up with fox pest control mentioned they are doing a promo of a year with $187 which will be three consecutive payment deduction when they come out for services, apparently that is not the case, on the fox pest system it signed me up for monthly deduction with a two year contract, please be aware of this scam/fraud from fox pest and don't be a victim, they communicate something else and sign you up for another thing entirely. @Lisa, based on your response, Your organization is total scam and fraud, having customer signing two years contract when your sales rep only mentioned a service of one year is not miscommunication but SCAM, also when your organization supposed to correct the issue, they insist on additional ridiculous amount for early cancelation, totally your organization is aware of this scam and still continue to rip customer off of your illegal way of business. read more

To be fair I haven't had service from this company nor have I called them. The one star is because at 7pm on a Friday evening a person shows up at our door to sign us up for service. That doesn't sit well with me since he claims to be in the area signing up people and the more he signs up, the more we save. Yeah we were robbed before. So of course this sets off my spidy sense and I call the local Fox pest control to verify that indeed this is one of their reps. The man that took my call was more interested in signing us up of service than answering my question of is this person legit or do I have someone scoping out the place for a future attempted robbery. No one knocks on doors anymore, they send post cards. Post cards is a normal way to advertise, not night time knocking in the middle of nowhere. The rep on the phone can't or won't answer my question, just tried to use my time to sell me something. I am with all the other 1 stars and would give 0 if I could. NEVER SIGN UP WITH THIS GROUP! I was working in the yard and got approached by a salesman who never mentioned 2 year contract, never mentioned an astronomical cancelation fee. Said I was getting this great deal and so much off for 4 months and I even said "oh good I use you guys for the summer and then cancel" and he NEVER brought up the cancelation fee. I understand it is in the contract but when your high pressure sales people going door to door it should be mentioned and not something I should have to read in a document outside in the sun. It trickery and thievery and I will recommend to everyone I know to STAY AWAY! Also I live in the house so when I tell technicians there are bees in a certain location, I don't want to hear "that isn't an active nest" and then nothing is done. It is an active nest. I can't comment on my experience as I've never used this company and quite frankly, never will but I was very upset because at 7:00PM, my 6 year old & I are sitting in our living room and there's a young guy peering through our front door and aggressively knocking. It scared the crap out of us (especially in this day & age)! My husband immediately got up and answered the door and it's some young guy throwing his sales pitch about ant treatment, etc. My husband kept telling him we're not interested (he told him 6 times total) and this kid kept pushing and trying to trick my husband into agreeing into setting up an appointment. To be nice, he even said he'd take a business card to call if we ever needed services but the kid wouldn't provide that and kept pushing us to sign up for a contract. Finally, we got him to leave but it genuinely felt like we had to push him off our property. On another note, I live in an townhome community managed by an HOA and at the front of our neighborhood there's a nice, big NO SOLICITING sign, however, these door to door sales people conveniently don't read. Overall, the way this was approached felt like borderline harassment and it was extremely off putting. Having to wait on hold for over 20 minutes is a dealbreaker. I'm not thrilled with the idea of being locked into a full year contract but could get over that. The wait for the first call was annoying, but when I called back on a subsequent day and ended up disconnecting after holding for 28 minutes, I knew I was done. Signing up is VERY easy, they come out and take care of your property that day (which was great). I made the mistake of signing up for the service to which now I've tried to call 3 times to set a follow up appointment however no one answers the phone. 15 mins, 10 mins, 15 mins. I call to set new service and I get someone on the phone within 3 minutes. Being understaffed is a lame duck excuse especially when you don't forget to draft my card each and every month. read more

They were able to come out same day to remove a hornets nest but I had to enroll in a quarterly preventative outside perst/insect service plan to get that dame day service. However, if the service I received for the hornets nest removal extends to the ongoing maintenance, I will he a very satisfied customer. read more

Stay away - far far away - it's not a local company - it's a corporation - Rollins to be exact, my last call after waiting 30 minutes went to a call center in Connecticut . We signed up last year for ants - the short version they never really got rid of the ants . I was suspect last fall when I mentioned to the tech a yellow jacket nest in a light box - long story short had to take care of the nest myself - days after they supposedly treated the nest was as active and alive like nothing was applied. Fast forward to this year - called waited the typical 20-30 minutes because we had an ant infestation in the kitchen - they supposedly treated in March . Customer service wanted nothing to do with giving me an appointment 3:30 - 4:00 pm after I was off work so I ha to take one 5 days later when I was on vacation . Tech came ask where the ants were found my Tetra ant bait and basically had a fit telling me that was completely the wrong thing to do - I was supposed live inundated with ants in a pantry cupboard for a week until they got there - he says my bait just killed them and doesn't get taken back to the colony to kill the queen - guess what nothing you're doing does either . Proceeds to walk around my home taking pictures - complaining about a shed 75 ft from my house and another barn 200 ft from the house where our garden is - telling me the landscaping and vegetation is the reason the ants are in the house and they would never spray or treat around my out buildings . 70/month multiple treatments over almost a year now they have an issue with our landscaping - weird this was never mentioned a year ago. The tech leaves and does nothing - no treatment inside or out . I sit here afterwords the more I think about this interaction the more I fume - canceled the account - this is ridiculous . P.S. I got rid of the ant problem myself in less than a week with ant bait granules ( they take bake to the queen ) outdoor ant liquid baits and Ortho home defense for under 50 bucks - I signed up because it was easy and one less thing for me to worry about so I thought - never again . read more

I would give this business a zero rating if I could. They are deceptive in their business practices. Had a sales representative in our neighborhood and was very persistent. Upon looking further he was able to convince us that we could cancel if not satisfied. This is not the case. $250 cancellations fee that was not disclosed to us. I wanted carpenter bees taken care of but the Harrisburg office kept changing service techs and not telling them what to treat. Fired them because they expect homeowners to provide oversight of their techs and "call us if you are not satisfied". They make more money if treatment needs to be extended because it's not done in the first place. They even sent a tech that flat out said he wouldn't provide the service I needed. Had previously spoken with a service manager and no change. At least the other pest companies flat out told me that they were unable to treat my home. That I seen they came out and put in but couldn't get in contact with any for the year check up. Just started making bad reviews and then it happened. I called Fox to get rid of wasps, which they did after 2 trys. I then signed a 1 year service contract. They take 58.00 a month and spray 4 times per year. As per the contract I wrote to cancel my contract after a year. The next month (November) they charged my credit card. When I call any number I can find for them I get a person from a different state, who does not have any answers to my questions. They say they will have someone call back, but noone does. I am now at 4 calls, three emails and 2 letters, 1 certified and no response. My next thing is BBB or an attorney. Plus I will have to cancel my credit card to keep them from charging me again. I think my house has les bugs and they did get rid of the bees, but not worth the hassle to get them to return my letters, emails and calls. read more

First off, do not read google reviews as they are skued. Check out yelp. Fox has barely a 2 star rating. These people come to your house as they go door to door, ramble off services that are too good to be true and charge you way more than how they explain the fees. I paid $169 for the first treatment and was told I'd pay $62/qtr thereafter but it was $62.54/ month which is around $850/yr and they don't even come out to your house once a month, only 3 or 4 times a year. The fox person who treated our property was supposed to come back after the 1st treatment a week or 2 after to check and see if any ants were still coming in our house but no one ever showed. Also, they don't tell you that the contract you sign is a 2yr agreement. Buyer beware!!! Additionally, it's $250 to get out of the contract with a 30 day notice. So, they charge you $169.60 + $62.54 + $250 =$482.14. Just know what you are getting into because I have obviously been scammed! read more

Place is a scam. "Serviced" my home, which did not get any of the targeted pests. Came back to do a free courtesy service which did nothing again. It's been three days and still no callback. I called Lancaster, Mechanicsburg, and Harrisburg and no answer or callback.

The initial appointment was very nice. Very thorough. Monthly payments made and my first follow up was for July. Here it is 7/11, and no appt. I tried to call 3 times, each time being on hold more than 11 minutes, and still no response and my call got disconnected. The one call went through and they advised I did have an appt. for 7/11. Good thing I work remotely. Yet, here it is 7/11 at noon, and no one showed. Called and put on hold again 11 minutes 32 seconds and got disconnected. I called again, from my work, and hit the option for "new referrals and not current members" and they answered in 20 seconds. I was advised he couldn't help me but took my number and a manager would call me back. Its been an hour and a half. No call. Very very disappointed. Customer service is only good when they are trying to sign you up. Funny, they are never late on my monthly payment withdraw. read more

Terrible !! I signed up for pest control which included, ants,fleas, ticks, spiders etc. I have ants everywhere along with mosquitos , spiders . I have paid them well over 500. And still have every insect as well. I've called in complained and asked for my service to be canceled. In my mind I should not have to pay to cancel service since no service has actually been performed because I still have insects they were paid to remove. I will never do business with them again and will be sure to spread the word. Last year I paid 275. 00 from a small business and never saw another bug. I feel scammed! They talked awful about the previous company servicing our property and guaranteed to actually deliver on the promises they make. DON'T FALL FOR IT!! They talked me into a 2 year contract stating one year wasn't available! Since they have been here I have nothing but issues, but nobody is answering the phone or responding to my email. They seem to do a good job for an ok price. They incessantly solicit your neighborhood and at times have tried to sign me up even though I'm on a quarterly plan. They also offer incentives to leave good Google Reviews. I likely won't renew after my one year is up because of that. read more

Singed up with fox from a salesman going door to door (red flag I should of known) not reading the fine print I locked myself into a year contract. I was getting billed every month even tho they only come out every other month or every third month. The first time I called in to cancel my contract the nice lady said that's fine. Another month goes by and i get a charge again for services from them. I called back and found out that I needed to pay and additional $150 to get out of the contract. $338 later I'm out of a contract with them. Moral of the story read the fine print before you sign up!
