I left with a new-found love for the owner of this place and an undying wish to see his business do well. Seriously. Walk in, and you see a little Asian man running the shop by himself. My boyfriend asked him if he had any breakfast foods, and the man sheepishly apologised and said they didn't have much besides sandwiches. My boyfriend then ordered a burger. To make up for the fact that my boyfriend couldn't get exactly what he wanted, we saw the man PILE on chips on the plate. And I mean it was a mountain where you had to walk slowly so the chips don't fall off - I've never seen such a generous portion in my life! Fast forward to us happily eating our meals - a man walks in and starts looking at the newspapers on the counter. The chickens are not charcoal roasted but strangely have a delish almost smoky flavour to them. The wing tips are particularly good like this, crispy and well seasoned. So is the parsons nose which lets face it, I am proud to admit I love that bit of the chicken! Not as flashy as a certain charcoal roast chicken place a few doors up the road but their prices certainly reflect that. Still a bit steep but it is Elwood after all. I've never had to wait long here. On the other hand the other place up the road I waited for what was an eternity when it was only myself and another person waiting for our order.

On a Sunday morning it was packed full of mothers and others getting chickens obviously to have for dinner where it's not expensive either. They cater as well where they make really nice sandwiches, wraps, salads and roasts, where it has got a very homemade feel about it. We normally order a whole chicken and chips (ask for chicken salt) and depending on how big an eater you are, you'll probably have left overs for tomorrow. The great thing about Chooks corner chicken is it is never dry so day after meals will still be yummy. I also tried the chicken burger with the lot today and I have to say I was very impressed. It came with the usual - cheese, lettuce, bacon and egg and was complemented by a sweet, tangy sauce. The bun was soft enough that you didn't have to eat it in sections and the burger was really juicy overall.
