Staff seemed a little clueless, A) failing to notice our arrival, subsequently forcing me to approach the bar to order, B) not knowing which meals on their various menus were or were not available (worth noting they were also advertising their Autumn menu on every table even though their kitchen were now focused on their Winter offerings) and C) failing to even provide cutlery...! Wow. Well done all round on thy front.
Thankfully the kitchen staff had their heads on straight, delivering me a Haggis, Neeps and Tatties of decent quality and Jennie a Brie Sandwich that looked rustic and comforting. The food was well fairly applaudable.
Certainly cheap. Two mains, a mulled wine, a tea and a J2O for £14. Definite value. The setting was also quite welcoming, mixing style and tradition very well.
Very middle of the road but the calibre (and price) of the food would have me repeat the visit. read more
