I've had tea here twice and the servers were lovely, the interior is beautiful and the drink menu had plenty of options.

It is a very quiet place for brunch. We enjoyed it so much. The service was very great, they made a mistake on our order and instantly corrected it and also took the item off our bill. The waiter was very friendly and the atmosphere was great! Prices were also pretty cheap. Food was great! read more

Quaint & Cream tea amazing!! Definitely worth visiting-- delicious food, nice service and quaint atmosphere/ambiance. We were vacationing in Scotland and found The Doll House online in nearby St. Andrews. Went here for brunch with a pretty large group. The space was a bit small so our party was split up but next to each other. Decor- pretty curb appeal and seating areas outside. Inside is very cozy and charming space. We ordered: Drinks--a latte, a flat white, a hot chocolate, and an americano. I personally had the hot chocolate and it was absolutely delicious and I am a picky hot chocolate drinker. My party reported the other drinks to be delicious as well. Food: a full breakfast, an avocado toast with poached eggs, French toast and cream teas (3 it was so good). This was our first time trying a Scottish breakfast and cream teas. Scottish breakfast had great options and we were able to try the famous haggis. It was pretty tasty so if you want to give haggis a try and have a good selection, this is a nice option. The cream teas were huge and so delicious like heaven in your mouth. The scones were flaky and soft and the clotted cream and jam additions made it all the better. Would order a hundred if I could haha. Price: Reasonable. Pricing was not bad at all our cheque totaled about £45 for everything. If/when we visit Scotland again we'll be sure to stop by. read more

It's been a while, but I once worked right next to The Doll's House. I had heard a lot about it as many folks in town would dine there. And I had heard good things. This was, however, over 5 years ago and the dining scene has been constantly changing in St Andrews since then. There are constantly new restaurants popping up in town, with a higher standard being expected. Well, I say that, but I'm not totally convinced of the higher standard, rather, people's dining preferences are changing such as farm shops in cities and the ever growing popularity of gourmet burgers in Scotland. The Doll's House is now under new management, and I'm sure is keen to get former customers to re-try the place. A couple of days ago I was to meet a friend in St Andrews and he suggested The Doll's House due to their special deal of a free scone with tea or coffee... I mean, who could turn that down, except for maybe an evil emperor? I had a pot of tea, which was a fair trade bagged tea. It was good, nothing amazing, but it accomplished my need for a half-way decent hot beverage. The scone was nice... a bit small, but tasty and came with butter and jam. The staff were friendly. The decor in the restaurant was nice, although didn't seem to fit with the name of the place. If you have been here in the past and weren't completely sold, then it may be worth checking it out again. I would need to try a lunch or dinner in order to give it any more than 3 stars. But at the moment it's a solid 3. read more

Really great restaurant - the food is great, the staff are friendly, and the price is bang on. They have an early evening prix fixe menu for £12.95 (from 5-7pm) which is short but still has more than enough choice to keep even the picky types happy - and if they aren't content at that price then they need their heads looked. This was a great little spot for brunch. I had the full Scottish breakfast which was excellent and filling while my dining companions had the royal eggs, the trout and the pastries. The service was lovely and the tea was great. We are probably going to go back for drinks later this evening! read more

More sensible than its two sister restaurants in St Andrews, the Dolls House is also the most expensive of the 'house' restaurants. A popular choice due to its quirky dolls house style décor and well presented English/French cuisine it is advisable to book to avoid disappointment. One downside of this restaurant is that due to its popularity it can feel a little like a production line with eaters in and out for the next sitting. read more

It was our final evening in St Andrews and we wanted to end our visit with a nice dinner so we headed to The Doll's House. We liked the decor and the staff were all very friendly. We tried the haggis appetizer and it was quite good as was the cauliflower soup. Those who ordered the sirloin and sole enjoyed their dinners. I opted for the burger and it also was very good. The selection of wines and whiskers were plentiful. Service was spotty as we had to ask twice for several things however this was offset by a very friendly server and bartender. If we get back to St Andrews this would not be our first choice but would still be on our list of places to dine. read more

Our reservation was at 5pm because the restaurant was that popular. With the early dinner menu, I had steamed mussels as appetizer, which was very delicious. Entree was lamb, which was a huge disappointment. The lamb was not tender nor very tasty. Service was good, but the entree could have been better. read more

This restaurant is owned by the same people as the Grill House and the Glass House, so you get the well established feel but also each restaurant is unique and offers a different experience. The Dolls House is definately more upmarket than the Grill House, as the food is more delicate and definately more expensive. The menu isn't as exciting as you would hope for the price, but they do some really great desserts. The Dolls House also offer a loyalty card so despite the prices, there are some good deals to be had if you are a good customer. I had the steak last time I was there and was a little disappointed with the meat itself as well as with the sides - very few veg or potatoes - really just a steak with sauce. The three course set menu was very well priced and lots of other options on the full main menu. Had lunch last week, found the food excellent in particular the Gumbo. The staff very attentive and friendly and the portions ample, in fact more chicken than I could eat. The bill for the four with a bottle of wine only £46! Fantastic read more

After having a delightful lunch here a year ago with a few St. Andrew's professors, I thought I'd take my wife here for a nice dinner this summer. Yet like most restaurants which undergo ownership/management overhauls, the Doll's House now suffers the fate of a generic and impersonal dining experience. To be sure, our waitress was great. Nice--likely a student--and at least apologetic in regards to our slow service and forgotten drinks. But the food was middling at best and the bartender managed to charge each ingredient of my Negroni separately--which made one cocktail 10.50 total. Brilliant scam! It's almost as if corporate overhauls of locally owned businesses result in downgraded service.... read more

A surprisingly good restaurant a bit off the main drag. We were looking for place to eat that was not a pub, and this fit the bill. The food was good and we enjoyed the atmosphere. Quite good, with obviously fresh dishes. We ate lunch here and the menu was pretty comprehensive. Service was good, if a little slow, but locals told us that it is always popular at lunchtime and therefore tends to be slow and they advised us to book, which we did and which was a good move. Good for a leisurely lunch, which ours was, and we enjoyed it. Next time we're in St. Andrews, and in a hurry, we might look elsewhere, but that's about the only downside I can give it. read more
