The chateaubrian 500gm was on special Thursday evenings, so had a great value sharing between 3 people. The fries were amazing delicious, crispy and hot. Optimistic about an enjoyable dinner turned into one of the worst experiences ever. It started off well enough with drinks and starters. After that was complete, we continued to talk around our table of 6 and two hours later, had no food. Finally a number of our entrees hit the table but some were cold, and sent back. Then one in our party received nothing as it was never put in. The kitchen for some reason was seriously in the weeds although this restaurant isn't that big. Once we received the food, for the most part it was good, but chef doesn't know how to run a kitchen. Our bill came out and dessert wasn't even offered as I think they were embarrassed. The bill was wrong with a number of drinks that were never ordered. No one approached our table to offer an apology of any type of accommodation. I finally went to one of the managers and asked why he would make believe this wasn't even happening. He said he was aware of it, and I said, yet you continued to do nothing about it?! I've been in this industry a long time earlier in life and these people are in the wrong business. We just finished up and this place was absolutely fantastic. On holiday in the area, having no idea where to find a great place to eat, we found this place on Yelp and were SO thrilled. There were six of us, we had a few different drinks and appetizers, and then a wide variety of dinners from the menu. All of them: fantastic. And do not ignore this: order the sticky toffee desert and ask to double the side ice cream. Unreal. This place is classy and not too high in that they let me in. Scotland like a lot of countries over here are still recovering from the lock downs. We did need mask to enter but took them off at the table. Service was great and very friendly. Drinks came out fast and the food was incredible just look at the pictures. First, it serves food when many places appeared to be closing at 1630 to 1700. They took us without a Reservation. The Steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked to order. The broccoli was a little overcooked. It wasn't mushy but on the verge of being mushy. The King Prawn linguine was excellent. There were these spicy pepper slices that added heat with the cubed pancetta. No time for dessert. The bread was yellow and the salted butter complemented the bread. READ TILL THE EMD. Overall, the food and service were pretty good. We had the octopus appetizer, prime rib special, seafood linguine, and ribeye. Cocktails were unique and tasty and our server Emma was attentive and helpful. At the end of the meal we found a Corona bottle cap in our water carafe and brought it to the attention of the server and manager. We weren't drinking Corona, so it was a little off-putting. I wasn't expecting much, but they did absolutely nothing beyond apologizing, which for the caliber of restaurant is a little low rent. On top of the sour finish to the meal, they add a 'charitable donation' to every tab and an up charge for a 'splash of soda.' Still worth going for a decent meal, but there is better fish and chips and steaks in the local pubs and probably not worth the exorbitant pricing. read more

Similar to the reviewer below, I live in NYC (not with the other reviewer!) although I'm Scottish so come home to visit family. I've been here a couple of times and both times it was really good. Everything was just a little more inventive than the usual fare you get in many Scottish restaurants. The tomato salad was particularly nice. Great wine list too. It's definitely a place you can return to over and over as the menu seems to change with the seasons. read more

I warm welcome when we entered made start to a very enjoyable meal. We didn't have a reservation but they made room for us anyway. Wait staff was timely and made sure we had everything we needed. Food was made to order and fresh. With a open kitchen it was cool to be able to look up and see them at work. We will stop again on our next visit for sure. read more

This restaurant can have 4-5 stars from me easily. Food is phenomenal. However management is lacking and the Waiters have not been properly trained. Ordered a bottle of wine tonight, was not poured in a proper decanter. The waiters never checked in and poured wine or water. Waiter never offered bread... little things that are important to take u to next level. Most of the workers are college students, and there's just a lack of restaurant knowledge. read more

We were excited for a restaurant to get a steak but ended up highly disappointed. The evening started out great as the bar was wonderful and cocktails were fantastic but it went downhill quickly when we were seated. The food took a very long time and the steaks were overcooked and barely warm by the time they were delivered. Drink orders at the table also took quite a while. And it was definitely overpriced for what we got- appetizer portions were extremely small and they offered us bread, olives and nuts then charged us for each of those items separately on the bill. This local gin is really good and served with great tonic water... ok now my sore feet and I can read the menu. I had the lemon soul and green beans my wife had soup and the rib eye steak. The food was spectacular. The souls was prepared perfectly and surprise surprise came with peas (ok so as an American I am not use to peas with everything and really I just don't like them) and some great truffle mash potatoes. Yum!!! The steak was perfectly medium rare and came fries and some veg. All in all it was a perfect backdrop to a beautiful French Pino. As other have mentioned the sticky toffee pudding is amazing. Would get 5 stars, however, like most restaurants here in Scotland service is slow and not super attentive. read more

Came here for lunch as we were in the area visiting the Eden brewery and had supported the chef at the time, Scott Davies, on Masterchef. The food was sublime, really quite special! The ambience, decor, staff, service - everything was absolute perfection. The only downside was that we didn't have time to linger, or make it back before Scott left to go to Skye. This place has one of the best cocktail menus I have ever laid eyes on. There were so many choices and none of the 3 I ordered disappointed! The first was a cooked drink, served over dry ice in a tea kettle to it steamed. Very nice presentation! Light bar fare was good. We had a mini loaf of fresh bread & tapenade, a prosciutto type salad/charcuterie, and truffle fries. All were quite good. Bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable. If you love a craft cocktail, this is the place to go. read more

Very nice restaurant. We had reservations at another nearby restaurant however there was Some miscommunication and they had us down for the next night and they recommended The Adamson. We were fortunate they had a table available and the drinks and food were excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The meal was more expensive than the pub food we have been eating however it was a more upscale atmosphere. Three of us ordered the rack of lamb which was quite good. The portions are definitely smaller than we see in America however that might be a good thing. read more

Very nice locally owned business with great food and great service! The menu had a great variety and great choices for everyone.

Clean, friendly staff, comfortable seating, entrees in the $15-30 range. I had the butternut squash soup and the chicken salad for dinner. The soup was tasty, but overly salted, so if you're not a salt fan, the Adamson's soups might not be for you. The salad was good. Not too big, but it had a lot more dollops of mayo on the plate than I needed (really didn't need or want any). If I went back, I think I'd opt for a hot entree as they looked great. Mostly a steak place, but they did have chicken and some fish entrees. The wines were tasty too. Fresh tiny loaves of cracked wheat bread with some black olive tapanade and butter were a nice touch. read more

I had the benefit of trying this place out after failing to get into another place down the street...very happy we were turned away. It seemed a bit pricey (but I was on the parent's "expense" account for this trip), so I was quite happy with the Adamson. Fresh, young, well-to-do crowd in this place. It felt a bit American if anything else. The food was quite good and I would dare say the lobster linguine I had was great. It came served with a spicy tomato sauce that complemented the buttery prawns and lobster quite well. The dish was a little small by American standards, but still satisfying. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a trendy spot in St. Andrews to enjoy a crisp meal. read more

Ended up there by accident when we parked right outside and my vegetarian partner had a look at the menu whilst I faffed about paying for parking. Often it's a bit of a hassle going for lunch as we have a 7 month old son who gets a bit bored if it's dragged out too much. 4 things made this a great experience: 1) the 2 ladies looking after our table made a big effort to include our little boy giving him lots of attention 2) they brought him a little plate of finger foods to keep him entertained and interested 3) the service was really swift but not rushed so our little boy didn't get bored 4) the food was lovely. I had a beautifully cooked and seasoned ribeye steak with one of the best peppercorn sauces I've had. My partner had Gnocchi which was also delicious. Our hotel recommended the restaurant to us so we went! They have a one, two, or three course meal selection available...or just order what you want! EVERYTHING we had was yummy! The warm bread and tapenade appetizer we so good! The risotto was so fresh and delicious!!! The soup was excellent!! The fish and chips were worth ordering!!! And the flat iron steak sandwich had great flavor!!! Then the desserts!!!!! Don't leave St Andrews without trying their Sticky Toffee Pudding....one of the best desserts I've ever had!!! My husband had the mint ice cream and chocolate mousse sundae....he rated it tops!!! One of our favorite top two restaurants of our whole Scotland trip!! read more

A bit expensive but worth it. Went there the other night for dinner. Had reservations for 7 pm but didn't need them. The place was only half full. However the owner mentioned that it was an off night and the place was full the previous evening. With the food being as good as it was I don't doubt him. My wife and son split some garlic bread as an appetizer while I had the mushroom soup. The soup was great and I got a good size portion. For dinner I ordered the large portion of mussels from the appetizer menu and it was more than enough. They were cooked in a little cream garlic and wine with some seasoning and they were delicious. My son ordered the chicken and found it seasoned perfectly and very tender. If your in to how the meal is presented than go no further. The chicken was cut and presented with vegetables and potatoes cut in artistic display. You could tell they took there time. My wife's order was presented just as artistically and the beef was perfect. Be sure to try the sticky toffee pudding. We only ordered one to share but it didn't last long at all. Our only mistake was in not ordering two. read more

The manager there was not that patient especially when we complained about the food. The four steaks we ordered were too dry, either the flat iron or the fillet. Also, they seemed like well done even if we ordered medium. It took us extra time to wait for a replacement. It was not a good experience overall. read more

BEST COCKTAILS! The Adamson Bar is fairly new and is separate from the restaurant. If you want a really delicious, craft cocktail, this is the place. The Charlie Chaplin Bubble Bath was incredible, as was The Physician. The Old Fashioned came on dry ice and looked so cool. The bartender was SO friendly as well. Highly recommend for a more upscale drinking experience. read more
