Wonderful atmosphere with a great selection of beer and terrific service, what's not to like!

I live right in the lot adjacent to this restaurant so I was dying to try the food. The staff is always super friendly when I walk by so that made me even more eager to place an order. I must admit, however, I was disappointed when the restaurant opened and made no effort to even invite those of us in the building right in the lot next door over to try it out. Still, I chose to be COVID friendly and support the local business. I ordered three entrees and, because I'm not a drinker, left out the beer offer even though they are a brewery! I was sorely disappointed. All the food was hot and looked good but it wasn't anything special. I had chicken wings, pulled pork sandwich (from the kids menu), and the schnitzel sandwich. It was all just standard bar food. None of it was something I would order again. In fact, the schnitzel tasted like something made in a high school cafeteria. The fried patty was over cooked, the ham was lunch meat grade, and the cheese was solidified as if the entire meal was sitting under a heat lamp for a while before I picked it up. The kid's meal wasn't seasoned at all because I asked for no sauce. I guess all the seasoning is in the sauce -- which should have been explained before just selling it to me because it was not inedible. I had to toss it. The wings are still in my refrigerator looking for a BBQ sauce! I still think the staff is friendly and maybe people go there for the beer not the food. Since I'm not a drinker, I can't speak to that. However, I lived in Germany for 2 years! That, was NOT schnitzel! I would never order those entrees again and even though this restaurant IS my backyard, it will be a long time before I eat there again. Maybe, there's a reason they didn't invite any of the neighbors over for an opening! read more

The service was friendly and attentive. The place has a fun woodsy vibe, it's great! All four of us enjoyed our food: smoked brisket tacos, onion soup, walleye (it's huge!), baked cod, and finally Foxtown fish fry. A flight of mimosas was ordered and thoroughly enjoyed, too! the service was good for having a larger party. The portions are quite small for the price. We had multiple people with sides of fries and each side was different in size. Shouldn't they all be the same? The menu is very meat centric, which is understandable, but why not have a grilled chicken sandwich on the menu. You serve grilled chicken and have the bun, etc. Could easily have it as a menu item. It was also very cold inside and quite loud, but not much can be done about the acoustics of the building. read more

This place is neat. We were immediately greeted when walking in and the customer service was top notch the whole visit. The host was kind, employees you walked by greeted you, and our server was very attentive. The place is super clean as well which is always important to me. We were wowed by the menu. Everything sounded sooooo good. I started with a beer and their IPA was delicious. I'm a beer enthusiasts so I'm picky with my beer and this one was delicious. We ordered Brussels sprouts as an app and they were so good. My wife and I love the sprouts at cafe Hollander and these for sure compete against them. I also got the steak sandwich. It was good don't get me wrong but I didn't feel like it was to die for. I would for sure order something else the next time I went. Overall we had a great visit and will be back. I would love to try more of their menu items. Good for a family dinner, a few drinks, or fun with friends. Great environment. read more

My husband and I stopped by on a beautiful May day. We were hoping to grab a spot on the enclosed patio but they were being held for reservations. It ended up being just fine in the main dining area - the atmosphere was nice with the rustic feel inside. Tables are well spread out as well, which is appreciated. He got a flight and I got a sour ale draft, which was actually really good. We got the wings as an appetizer, they're not tossed but they're served with the sauces on the side. They were well seasoned and cooked well. We each had a burger, overall they were good but we agreed that they were too salty. As a self-appointed french fry connoisseur I give their fries a thumbs up Our server Josh was excellent and has a great personality! I'm sure we'll be back in the future - we're hoping it's a bigger outdoor patio coming that the corner is under construction?? read more

Possibly the hardest review ever. Mid day on a Saturday. Place is half full . Get seated . 4 of us. Menus dropped. Waited 15 minutes with nobody coming by. Go to bar and ask if they can spare a server. Get one. Order 2 apps to share... come in 10 minutes. No small plates so I asked for small plates when apps are served. Wait another 5 minutes, waiter comes over and asks how everything is. My apologies but I wasn't polite at this point staring at my food sitting there. The RUNNER should know better . Whenever you serve apps You Always grab plates. Come on. Common sense has been lost these days. BTW food tasted Great . But two major issues gives this place 2 stars . And I'm not sure if I can come back . They weren't Busy. read more

Stopped in here on a whim and were glad we did. The ambiance and interior of this place is amazing and just really beautiful. We sat at the bar and the service was excellent they also have a wide variety of beers available as well as NA options too. We tried the nachos which were pretty good. Stopped in for lunch. We were promptly greeted and seated in their spacious dining room. We got there at noon and there was not a wait which was great because we were starving. Our server showed up shortly after we took our seats We had checked out the menu online and knew we wanted the cheese curds, which we ordered right away. Our server told us about their Brussels sprouts special appetizer, so we decided to try those too. Both were fantastic! The curds were lightly beer battered, fried crisp, and served with a dipping sauce. Ranch I think? The Brussels sprouts were fried crispy, along with some bacon and other stuff I cannot recall but it all came together so nicely. Sadly I missed getting a pic of the apps. Like I said, we were all starving! For beverages we decided to go with the Not just for astronauts fruited sour. I love sours, and this one was wonderful! I had two! I ordered the port schnitzel with the green beans as my side at our servers recommendation and I was so glad I did. So good! Highly recommend! My son ordered the elk burger with fries. Also delicious! My girlfriend ordered the baked French onion soup in a bread bowl which she said was great! We were too stuffed for dessert, but the key lime pie was calling out to me so I took a slice home. This was a smart move. I absolutely enjoyed it later in the day. It was delightfully tart and creamy. It was a very good meal! Service was prompt, courteous, and helpful. Only bad thing was they were out of bloody Mary's so I didn't get to try the sake Bloody Mary. Hopefully next time. All staff members we saw were wearing masks and tables were well spaced apart. They also have heated patio I may try next time. The building itself is beautiful. A pleasant mix of the old and the new. Kinda rustic with a touch of modern. We will definitely be back. read more

This has to be one of my favorite spots in Mequon. They have a tasty and diverse selection of beers--my favorite was the seasonal Kölsch! The beer flight is a great deal at $10 and your party will have no struggle selecting a food choice from their menu. Definitely don't skip out on the cheese curds as an appetizer if you're visiting. We opted to reserve a table beforehand, which I highly recommend to avoid the lengthy wait times. The dining atmosphere was great and our waitress, Ava, was very attentive and friendly! read more

I'm from Milwaukee, but I now live in Southern California. While visiting this week my wife and I tried Foxtown Brewing. This is place is outstanding for its food, service, restaurant interior. I had the walleye fish fry with broccolini, a side of truffle fries, and for dessert a mouth-watering fresh baked chocolate chip cookie in a small cast iron skillet with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The whole thing was drizzled with caramel sauce. I RAVED about the entire meal. On my next visit to Milwaukee to see family, Foxtown Brewing will definitely be in our plans. read more

We made reservations for outdoor seating and promptly seated by a very nice host. We ordered the black bean hummus which was very good and wine and beer from a friendly enough server who was not very attentive. My wife ordered the apple walnut salad and I ordered their 1857 burger with sweet potato fries. The salad came out and it was greens with 3 blackberries. Our server was of no help and I requested the manager to come out who happened to be that nice host. He brought out another salad and it looked much better. My burger seemed fine but the meat was raw and I became horribly sick. As I returned from the restroom another server came to my rescue and offered to call 911, I apparently looked terrible. This server and another manager couldn't have been nicer nor more helpful, their names may have been Laura and Anna but I was out of it. The manager explained that there was a new cooking crew and they were still learning the temps. I will give them another try, but probably won't order a burger next time. read more

My husband and I stopped for lunch on a Friday at 1:00 pm. we were NOT greeted by the hostess, rather she waited for me to say something. We said we'd sit in the bar area so we found a high top table by the bar and she followed us saying "I thought you were sitting at the bar..." and then told us she had to grab menus. It all felt very rude and cold. Speaking of cold, we ordered nachos to share and they came out quickly, but they were COLD! No one came to check on us to see how the food was (and it was not busy at this time either), so we decided it wasn't even worth asking for them to be heated up. The only positive note was that the bartender was friendly. When we left, the hostess looked at me and walked right past us, saying nothing. I cannot believe she is employed as a hostess. Sad!! We've drove passed a few times but never got a chance to check it out. My friend wanted to meet up and figured this would a great chance to check out Foxtown brewery. We got the cheese curds app and two flights of beer. (Decent variety of beer) I got the brisket burger which was amazing! Best burger I've had in a long while. Our server was great. She was training while being extremely helpful! If you're looking for an affordable place to eat the menu is quite pricey. Overall it's a nice place to grab drinks with friends! Also great location with other restaurants near by. Will definitely go back for their flights. read more

I would absolutely go back here for a quick beer. Went here with friends and will definitely recommend if asked. Beer and food were good but the service was very poor. We had to ask for silverware and napkins, our waitress never returned after we ordered. A different person delivered our food but we were all out of drinks. We ate our appetizer and our dinner, without a drink replacement. We finally had to find the waitress to pay our bill and get a box. Disappointing. read more

Have eaten here three times, service has always been outstanding, especially when our group of 27 overtook the back room. Looking for a great brewing restaurant in the Mequon area? This is 100% it. I visited on a sunday and they had a more limited brunch and lunch menu, but there were great options. During the week, they have a more extensive menu. I ordered the corn beef hash dish on the brunch menu and it did not disappoint. The presentation and taste was so unique. I've only been able to get into Foxtown Brewing twice, as it usually has long wait times and lots of reservations. I think staffing is the really issue, thanks covid. I've only sampled a few things on the menu, but I will eventually make my way thru the menu when I can get in again. Cheese curds were on point. Be sure to try and get a reservation far in advance, otherwise you will need to wait to far into the evening for a table. read more

Decided to try a late lunch and worked to our advantage. It's a popular place so glad we finally made it I'm not a beer drinker and they've added hard seltzer's for people like me. My husband is a a beer drinker and was pleased with the selections and taste. The food was tasty. Slightly elevated bar food. We started with the cheese curds and they were delicious. It was good but overpriced. Fries way way too salty. French onion Soup good. Burgers good. Kids tenders good. Place empty and still took more than 30 minutes for our food. No one came to ask if we wanted anything else in the meanwhile. Only a few tables occupied on the porch. Got two dang root beers. They were okay. No glasses were offered. Nearly eighty buck for three adults and one child. Only two drinks. Burgers are 1/3 lb so like the size you'd get at Culver's. And with soup upgrade you're dropping a Jackson on one that's not big enough to fill a man with a healthy appetite. Long wait and prices plus salty fries caused the one star downgrade. Debated three stars but the atmosphere is cool and server was friendly. read more

We found this large restaurant/brewery/banquet hall on our way home from a hike with the dogs and luckily, their patio is pet friendly. The Badgers game was just ending so they were packing up their tailgate party. Apparently they grill out and have a party in the parking lot. The upper patio had pretty open seating but we were eating at 3:30. They had three TVs and a bar outside. When we drove over we checked out a very large menu, but I think the patio has limited options. This is not a problem because it is still a great menu! The beer and food was delicious. All of their sauces are homemade and you can certainly tell! We subbed the house ranch for Nashville ranch because it was described as having a little kick. It was honestly not spicy at all but I have a high tolerance. I would guess that for someone who likes a small amount of heat but can't handle much, it's probably perfect. My husband ordered and loved the buffalo chicken sandwich. I ordered the haddock poor boy and was disappointed in how dry it was. I ordered an extra side of remoulade and that made a world of difference. We also loved the microbrews that we ordered: Oktoberfest and both pale ales. The waitress/bartender was very welcoming and gave us an overview of the estate. She suggested we walk the dogs down to the annex after lunch to check it out. It was so gorgeous! They had table top fire pits, bags, large connect five, and plenty of space for seating. We are excited to bring a group of friends! read more

Had the Sunday brunch which was mediocre at best...food was not hot and only a sparse selection. Prefrozen waffles ....and no other pastries , breakfast items or breads or rolls offered. Only one meat selection at carving station , prime rib..Omelets made to order were overdone and took a long time to receive, despite restaurant being only about one fourth full. Food seemed to be almost like hospital steam table cafeteria quality...Only one saving grace...Cinnamon rolls and fruit were delicious..but will not be back, at least for buffet. read more

This review is for the outdoor seating and beer only - we did not try any food nor venture inside during our visit. A sunny 75 degree day led us to try out the outdoor patio area at this local brewery when we had nothing better to do. This is a very fun addition to the area! The patio area is large with plenty of seating, even on such a beautiful weekend day. The beers are good and I appreciate that there are more options than just a couple varieties of IPAs and a light beer or two. I hate IPAs - why are they so bitter for no reason? Anyway, I tried both the Chocolate Stout and the Raspberry Wit and loved both. The Chocolate Stout is heavy in a good way with a fairly high alcohol content for a beer (8%) and the raspberry wit was lighter than I expected - a solid wheat beer with just a hint of raspberry without being sweet. It was fantastic and if I return I would get the raspberry wit again without hesitation. The ONLY thing I would love to see is a wider selection of tap beers outside - although the beer was good even from a can, I can only imagine how good it would be from the tap. read more

Fantastic experience. From the moment we walked in and were greeted warmly by Nora we felt at home. Great beer and great food. The scene is great with just enough bustle to keep things interesting but not so loud that it's tough to have a conversation. Our table ordered everything from Cheese Curds to Burgers to Pasta to a Pork Chop. Everyone was happy and all loved the food. Large portions most took some home with them. Our service team was great and the food even better. Its a nice spot in Mequon. read more
