There's a standard menu including avocado on sourdough with haloumi but on this occassion I take a punt on the eggplant risotto cake from the cabinet at the counter (also housing sweets and sandwiches) with a side of salad. PS. This salad was wicked. Beetroot, nuts, kale and a poached egg. I'm not sure what they put in it but it was easily competing to be the hero food on that plate party. Their coffee is Byron Beans and I could drink about three more flat whites than I do. You can also purchase some of the vintage and retro knick-knacks on display and if you bring your own container or jar you can also purchase fresh honey. The bright neon sign lured me in! So many reasons why this place has been a welcomed addition to the Oxley Station Rd strip of cafes. Firstly, their food - omg, yum. It's like, Asian fusion, bit healthy and they do the best Dragon Bowls (an Asian styled salad bowl with shiitake mushrooms, a spring roll, crumbed beetroot and other salad-like goodies!). Also, thankfully they've added BubbleTea recently to their menus. I am bit over the juice bars lately, so this is fantastic option to have. It can be milky, or just clear tea, iced and with plenty of additions available such as pearls, lychees etc. Also, the service is phenomenal! They have all the fish favourites; barramundi, snapper, coral trout, sea perch, flake, whiting, cod and dory and offer plenty of family packs, assorted seafood packs all full of the yummy extra seafood bits like calamari, seafood sticks and scallops. Food here is fresh although it can often be a bit too greasy for my liking, for what you get the prices are fine. The customer service is not commendable but when you're in a hurry yourself, you don't really care. It's an average take away place with good food, if you're in the mood for a bit of grease on the side.

The cafe itself is amongst the Hillsdon Road Centre of businesses and is at the back of the convenience store. There's three or four small tables (ideal for parties of one or two) and a small communal table (maybe for 6) within the cafe and outdoor seating in the courtyard. On a sunny day, or even on the grey day today, it's great to sit outside and soak up the leafy surrounds. The menu isn't fussy. It takes up one A5 sheet of paper and I opted for the baked eggs but you might prefer the avocado on sourdough toast with their homemade almond butter or the savoury mince. My baked eggs are served with leek and capsicum jam and tarragon which, when baked, gives the eggs this wonderfully subtle taste of licorice/ aniseed. I order one flat white and one ice latte during the course of my time waking up amongst the cafe with locals popping in and out for the mornings hits. What the most pleasant surprise of all is the total I paid for breakfast. $15.50 for baked eggs and two coffees. And this isn't some slap-dash-side-of-the-road-truck-stop-inspired-big-breakfast.
