Many delicatessens have been and gone over the past ten years in the Mt Gravatt/ Sunnybank/ Eight Mile Plains region. Even the reliable chain Spoons deli cafe closed down at Garden City after about a year. There just didn't seem to be the right market for a gourmet deli in outer southern suburbia. Plenty Continental Deli has proven everyone wrong. I've been going to this deli now for the past two years, admittedly at first in an effort to help a new foodie business, but as their business grew it genuinely became an excellent purveyor of delicious foods. The business owners are both knowledgeable and adventurous with their stock and carry a huge range of olives, cheeses, salamis and ice creams. They're not scared to experiment either. Last year, they started selling gelati in cups but replaced it a few months later with a bakery section. These days, they've extended their bakery section to include Roman baked goods out the front of their shop on weekends. This is also a great place to go if you want to put together a food hamper for a gift. There are some excellent Turkish delights, chocolates, mixed nuts, oils and dressings. Service can be a little slow at times, especially if you get stuck behind a customer wanting different types of meats and antipasto. It's great if you're happy to browse but it can get frustrating if you're in a rush. read more

I love this place! I could spend hours just looking at the enormous variety of delicious products. The staff are super friendly and are always willing to offer you a taste before you buy and if on the off chance they don't have what you were looking for, they will get it in for you, just ask! Many times I've just gone to Plenty for inspiration and ideas on what to make for dinner. It's hard to walk out of there with only one thing though. Best deli in Brisbane by far and I feel so lucky that it's part of my local shops! read more

I wrote the following in 2012 (I think) but for some odd reason the review does not appear on Yelp. I revisited the Plenty Deli today after quite an absence and I found it to be an oasis in another deli wasteland as far as this part of Brisbane is concerned. I am reposting my earlier review (slightly edited) as,I believe, it to be as applicable now as it was at that time. This is a brilliant delicatessen. Having lived on the North-side of Brisbane and being close to the Valley, City, & other areas with a plentiful supply of wonderful delis I was somewhat bereft upon moving to Springfield Lakes & finding that I was denied ready access to an exciting, well-stocked deli. Plenty Deli was an exciting find albeit serendipitous as I was actually out that way to receive some acupuncture. Après acupuncture I ventured forth & discovered the Plenty Deli. Not only did it stock a wondrous myriad supply of exotic deli items but also it was staffed by wonderfully friendly, helpful, & knowledgeable people. They were even able to source and procure for me my favourite Portuguese Olive Oil ("Saloio"). There is absolutely nothing that I can fault about Plenty Deli other than the fact that it is, to a certain extent, constrained by its dimensions. That aside, however, Plenty Deli provides a delightful shopping experience for the dedicated foodie as well as the novice wishing to craft a fine culinary experience. read more

This fantastic deli is very popular, and rightly so, despite it's somewhat out of the way location. It's small which results in it being pretty much an impossibility to pass someone when you're making your way down the extraordinarily narrow aisles. Size isn't everything though; every bit of space that can be used is, to display their great range of gourmet products. Most of their stuff seems to be delicious looking sauces, chutneys and many other things in jars. I went to this deli for a specific local product which was sold out in the stores I usually buy from. It was more expensive here which I found odd considering every other place I've ever bought it has been the exact same price, I assumed because it's from a local dairy. When I got to the counter the woman was in the middle of a personal call on her mobile and outright ignored bth myself and my partner. After much waiting she actually TURNED AROUND so we couldn't hear her conversation. At that point I just walked for the door with no intention of buying anything - I didn't need it so bad that I was happy to wait around for this rude woman. Unfortunately my partner was confused and didn't follow me and just as I walked out the door she hung up and served him so I had to go back to pay. I was paying by eftpos and clearly specified to her savings ONLY as my paypass doesn't show me the pending funds, just takes them out randomly a few later which leaves me short on money because I forget about it by this point. The chip didn't read properly so rather than swipe my card she pay passed my transaction. I was already extremely annoyed by this point and told her that I specifically said savings account only and she should have swiped or ASKED before using pay pass. She clearly didn't care and then stuffed around for ages with my receipt. I will NEVER go back. The service was totally disgusting and ruined my afternoon. read more
