1 Star - Defective Work, No Contract, Avoided Responsibility…read moreI hired Long Island Mason & Concrete Corp in June 2024 to pour a concrete patio for $5,900. The experience was a nightmare from start to finish. The Problems: The contractor requested payment in cash and never provided a written contract, which is required by New York law for jobs over $500. Within one week of the pour, two slabs began flaking and scaling. I immediately contacted the contractor. The work was done on a 100-degree day. When I raised concerns about the extreme heat affecting the concrete, the contractor acknowledged "this is the result of extreme heat" but refused to take responsibility as the professional who should have managed weather conditions or rescheduled. Months of Delays: Instead of promptly addressing the defects, the contractor stalled for months. When he finally offered to replace the two damaged slabs, he demanded I sign a liability waiver and warned the new concrete wouldn't match the color of the existing slabs - meaning I'd have a permanently mismatched patio due to his defective work. I offered a reasonable cash settlement to resolve the issue. He refused. I had no choice but to file a complaint with Nassau County Consumer Affairs. Official Violations: Consumer Affairs cited the contractor for multiple violations, including failure to provide a written contract (violation 202360, originally a $2,500 fine). He only agreed to a settlement after facing thousands in fines and potential license suspension. Ongoing Defects: After settling, two additional slabs developed structural cracks running completely across the slabs from joint to joint. All four slabs now show defects, confirming my original concern that the entire pour was compromised. Bottom Line: For a $5,900 job, I received a defective patio that required a 7-month battle through Consumer Affairs to get partial compensation. The contractor operates without proper contracts, pours in extreme conditions without adequate precautions, and avoids responsibility when problems arise. I strongly recommend hiring a licensed contractor who provides written contracts, follows proper procedures, and stands behind their work. This is not that contractor.

From the first interaction with Mark, my wife and I felt like we found someone we could trust…read more.. and knew his business. We had water find it's way into one side of our home, but the other side was also showing signs of the same problem. Mark explained each step of their process and after checking around, we felt his plan was right for us and at a reasonable price. His workers showed up on time and worked late each day. ' 'In addition to the waterproofing of the foundation, Mark came back and installed extenders on our downspout gutters. All in all, the crew worked clean, quickly and professionally. Foundation issues can't be ignored... and I'm happy we found Mark and Liberty Masonry to do an excellent job for us.

However, we are reconnected and Mark came to my house on 6/9/2023 to repair my brick driveway and finished the job today 6/10/2023. He was really doing a good job on my driveway and I am very please to wait for him almost a month later. Sorry I don't have before but I do have after picture FYI. While he was doing the repair job on my brick driveway there are 5 people stopping by to ask for his business cards. He was working very hard and took pride on his job performance. He cleaned the short walkway for me and after he left all things done and very clean.
