After purchasing $9,500 worth of jewellery ( purchased on two separate occasions) and having had the beautiful earrings on for about 20 minutes l realized I was missing one! Only to find it caught in my scarf. Thank goodness .. The stem that extended through the ear and curved down, pushed down on the scarf and popped right out. A possible design flaw, but in any event the first solution provided was to use a plastic backing on the stem to stop this from reoccurring. Is this appropriate, on $2,800 earrings?? I don't think so. One would expect that because they designed and made them in house they would have just given us the backings because the earrings couldn't be worn without them. No - they charged us $50 for them. When we suggested to the Manager that this is not right she said she is not the owner and could not waive the charges. What do you think? I bought my wife an anniversary ring from Francis Jewellers and was very pleased with the costumer service, knowledge and variety of beautiful jewellery. I was greeted promptly by Karen and shown a good selection of rings (as I was after a Sapphire ring). She was very helpful with my decision even though I didn't buy it initially. the new owner Rafal attempted to scam me. I had a vintage datejust serviced with crystal replacement. He charged me a quite high Price @ 700, but I thought it was easier than taking to Vancouver so figured ok sure. I receive it back 6 weeks later with a crooked crystal. I also noticed it doesn't look like an authentic Rolex but rather the knockoff aftermarket crystal. He assured me it was real, and was made by a company called GS. I then researched GS and discovered Gs crystals are the cheap knockoff aftermarket ones. I told him I know what's he's attempted to do, and he told me we will fix it for you. Gave him the watch for another 6 weeks, and he got the real Rolex crystal on. But wouldn't refund me for service. With all considered, that's the least he could have done. He almost got away with the scam, and he now is going to destroy the reputation of a 100 year old historical Victorian neighbourhood legacy. UPDATE: Rafal has now threatened me with police action. After trying to defraud me and lying to my face and refusing refund, he is saying I am trying to extort him. AVOID SERVICE OR SHOPPING HERE AT ALL COSTS! read more

Today just 2:30 hours ago, I went to the store, there are 5 employees total, 2 guys were very helpful and very patient . Other 2 ladies were nice too. Thanks I was so appreciate. But there was only one lady who was Asian woman, she were sitting there and say nothing, her face was so frozen! Francis Jewellers is a longest jewellery store in Victoria with good reputation, and have provided good quality products for customer for 3 generations, why was that Asian woman were not respectful? When I was standing to ask one guy some questions, she walked to me, I looked at her face, she looked mad without smile and one word! I think her personal philosophy is I will nice to you if only you going to buy something, or maybe you have to look like kind of person you can afford to buy. I walked into the store (out of the rain) this afternoon with an engraving job, and was waiting be served. There were three employees, and only one other customer. One young lady was working at her desk, and went across to another person who was occupied at the counter (not with a customer). Neither of them greeted me, but he handed her the phone which had started ringing, for her to answer. She looked at me without a word, and served the customer on the phone. I said, "I am here!" and walked out. Any business, especially a small business, should value the walk-in customer and deal with her/him before taking care of a customer sitting in the comfort of his/her home at the other end of the line. The owner would be wise to address this with staff. Answer the phone, say there is a customer waiting, and ask him/her to hold - their choice to wait or call back. The wise old saying, "A bird in the hand is worth too in the bush" rings true here. I'll find another jeweller. read more

I brought my wedding band and engagement ring to the Francis Jewellers team for soldering. I received excellent advice on fitting the bands together, and the finished product is absolutely stunning. They took incredible care of the delicate opals in my engagement ring and the work was complete in a very quick turn around. I had heard that Francis Jewellers would be a good place to go for quality repairs and general goldsmith work. I must admit their work is fine, however my first (and last) experience in dealing with them left me shocked and really frustrated. Upon my first visit I was quoted a cost range of $120- $150 by a staff member for an engagement ring I wished to have reinforced around the bottom, the ring was my Grandmother's and needed to be thickened so it would last another generation. When I came back a few days later to drop the ring off, the same staff (appeared to not remember me..) said he would check with his boss, shortly thereafter he came back and said it would be $200. I was not expecting that, but I just wanted this to get done so I agreed to the new $200 cost, to have it ready for my wife before Christmas. Later that week I received a call saying the ring was ready for pick up. I casually asked what the damage (total) was? The woman replied, 'It's $225 plus tax' I was not impressed, but not really that upset at this point. I asked her why $225? .. but she couldn't tell me... and says ' I'm just calling to let you know it's ready.' ...a short pause while still on the phone, she then says 'Do you want to speak with the owner?' I answer: uh yes, sure... A few minutes later the boss (Raphael) answers and says there was a problem with the ring that needed to be fixed so they just went ahead and did it. I ask.. Why didn't you call me first? He replies we just thought it best to go ahead a fix it. At this point I start explaining to him the situation with the escalating cost during the 2 visits I had made, and the different quotes, lack of communication, and overall misinformation. Now, I'm the customer, and even though I did agree to the second $200 cost, I'm really starting to feel frustrated at this point. After explaining to the owner all of this...to my total and utter shock he cuts me off while I'm explaining.. He says to me: 'I know all about the situation and the quotes you were given.'.. then he starts to argue with me about all of what has occurred and says it's my fault!.....? I seriously cannot believe that the owner (still on the phone with me) has complete disregard that I am the customer and doesn't even seem to care about this fact. After debating further for another 5 or 10 minutes, he finally admits it would have been better to have called you, but he offers no sympathy and is still completely unapologetic. Finally he says: 'If you just want to pay the $200, then that is OK I suppose'.. I really didn't know what to say, I was left feeling almost as if he had convinced me this was a good deal and I should just accept all of what has happened. To summarize my opinion here: If you are a business (in this case a local one) You should treat all customers with respect, not argue with them, not mislead them, not accuse or assume blame, and quite simply exercise some Customer service! WILL I EVER go BACK..? NO, NEVER. WILL I MAKE SURE everyone I know, HEARS about how they treat customers..? YES! read more

I was recommended by my friends to get my ring repair at Francis jewellers, they did such an amazing job, so I brought my Cartier watch for replace battery, clean and to make sure everything is running properly, I was so surprised how my watch turn out, it looks brand new when I pick it up!!
