I actually did like the pizza a lot. The dough and other ingredients were fresh and you can taste the quality. I got the pizza to go and instantly hoped that I should have ate it there. The reason for low rating is purely based on the fact that my pizza had a strong smell of cigarette. I couldn't eat it anymore as I felt that I was eating cigarettes. I also called and complain politely as I would love to eat there again. Also, I thought the pizza could use more toppings. Even the additional topping I paid for, I saw couple of pieces of it. If it didn't smell like cigarettes and had more toppings, I would have given it a 5 star.

    The affogato. Oh yes.

I certainly had high hopes coming in after reading Stephanie and Sophie's reviews. Franco Manca did not disappoint. Every minute of dining there was kind of enchanting. From the chefs hurling pizza dough at each other to the expertly curated shabby chic tiling at the entrance, the space has plenty of visual appeal. Their sourdough pizzas are apparently cooked at 500c, which is great for a quick turnaround, and would explain the masses of people coming in and out. We had the tomato, garlic, oregano, capers, olivers, anchovies, and mozzarella pizza (totally just went for the one with the most ingredients.) At 6.85 for a big portion that left me completely sated, this is a really good value for pizza. One would hope they force the overpriced chains to compete or fold. My dining partner pointed out that this slow rising sourdough almost invoked the taste of naan. I don't entirely disagree, and naan pizza is a huge selling point for me. What really elevates Franco Manca for me is that you can get proper parmesan with your pizza if you ask, and the black pepper, garlic oil and chili oil at each table allows you to completely customize your dish. It's a holy marriage of classicism and contemporary 'build your own' approaches. I for one, would probably drown any foodstuff in garlic oil. Bonus points for the garlic oil being really strong here. We had the house red, a blend of dolcetto, barbera, and croatina. Really lovely on its own, took on a sweetness with the pizza, and an enjoyable acidity with chili oil. Pretty impressed for 3.85. Oh my god, the affogato was exquisitely well balanced and I could literally have like 10 of them. Sourdough pizza seems to digest differently -- I felt a lot less carb-coma'd at the end of the meal than I ever have at a pizza joint. I can't wait to go back for the burrata. Thoroughly impressed.

Thank goodness Franco Manca closes late! My partner and I were hunting for a late dinner at 10pm after attending a gig at Brighton Dome. We noticed how busy it still was but managed to get a table inside. Service was friendly and prompt! We ordered quickly and received our food within 10ish minutes! Portions are generous and the food was absolutely delicious! Only complaint was that for any extras (including more tomato or cheese) is £0.95. I figured extra tomato would be free but oh well! Definitely check this place out for quality Italian pizza!

What can I say? Franca Manco is my new fav pizza joint! Their USP is sourdough pizza and oh my! What a sour dough! The menu is very simple, a few starters which are up on a board and are told verbally to you, then a choice of 6 pizzas. Also a few specials as well. We had burratta and garlic pizza bread to start. The burrata cheese is AMAZING. It is tied up with a bit of string (which we were warned about). I had the joy of cutting the little ball of cheese open and it all came oozing out. YUM. I went for pizza number 5, which is mozzarella capers olives garlic anchovies (I had without anchovies). It was so so so tasty. One of he best pizza's I've had in awhile. They offered to replace the anchovies with something else but I had all I needed already! I kinda wish I had asked for extra of the other ingredients because they do skimp a little on the ingredients. Had a bottle of Prosecco, it was nice but I'm still unsure of serving Prosecco in tumbler glasses. I don't think I'll ever like this trend though! Service was a little slow but we were a big table and it was a busy Friday night. Interior is cool with some funny art on the wall.

Okay, we may have been a little more than intoxicated, but every last morsel of our 2 pizzas were demolished in minutes. We ordered two 12 inch Winter Warmers which in my opinion is the best choice on the menu - sundried tomatoes and garlic sauce, mozzarella cheese, green peppers, tandoori chicken, jalapeno peppers, pepperoni and red onion. Something for everyone! The second pizza was half price too making the 2 just £15. However, the REAL clincher for me is the fact that they deliver banoffee pie. Anyone who brings me banoffee pie to my front door is a legend!!

Yummie pizza really should not be something that anyone with good taste in food should like... but…read moresomehow I still really like it! The pizza is your typical cheap pizza but somehow it is very tasty. The main draw for me is the crazy prices. The pizzas are ridiculously cheap and the meal deals are fantastic. I would highly recommend the family deal which comes with a whole heap of goodies, including their incredible gooey chocolate cookies. The one downside is that they are sometimes incredibly slow in getting the food to you. One time they took over 2 hours to get my pizza to me for some unknown reason. It was still worth t when it arrived though. Mmm... now I'm hungry for cheap tasty pizza!
