They also have an area that you can walk to and watch the Peacocks. As far as the rooms, they are okay. The restroom is tight, with the toilets sitting inches from the shower. Rooms are spacious but smelled a little musky. Luckily, we were able to open up the window. Once we did that it smelled a little better. I think it may be from folks walking around wet and dripping on the carpet.

The second time I called, I ASKED to speak to a manager and was switched over, so of course she didn't hear the laughter or giggling I heard. The trip started off fairly well, until around dinner time! We waited over an hour and 15 minutes for dinner after the automated system said 20-40 minutes. When I did call, I was met with laughter on the other line and was told, "we're understaffed - but are you the room that ordered all the beer?" "Nope. Definitely not. We have kids in tow and we do not drink. Me and my family are STILL waiting for food..." To which she laughed again, said they were understaffed and claimed the young lady hauling food was on the floor and would be "right there". 15 minutes later, I called again and they removed the food from our bill - which I appreciated, but also hated having to ask for - AGAIN. Also, asking me about an 'order' because the staff was already taking too long seemed borderline inappropriate. That being said, my kiddos are both 7, one chose this waterpark as her birthday venue, and everyone had a fun time. (It's a tad frustrating that check-in is so late and in order to get INTO the water park, with the most slides that is, you had to pay extra. So, anyone who pays for just the park gets in earlier technically. Which again, is a tad annoying. You pay more to stay and then pay even more to play. The lazy river, the family raft ride and the outside hot tub were their favorites to play around in a there are a few inside we didn't even check out. The breakfast/dinner/game time coupons and cards were all pretty nifty and we used every single one of them. It is a bit misleading that the place to enjoy dinner is the 'Bavarian Inn Restaurant' and is not attached to the hotel in any way and says it closes at 8:00. We booked it there to arrive in time for a dinner only to see them seating people at 8:55. All of our issues revolved around meals/food, and younger staff members just joking around when you try to ask questions, but overall - my kiddos had a great time and that was the goal.

When we arrived, the woman selling the tickets was genuinely friendly and interested in our dog. I love that this is a dog-friendly activity and that always gets extra bonus points with me. She asked our dog's name and answered all our questions and when we saw her hours later walking around the town she called out to our dog by name and said hello. It was very sweet and just one example of the warm welcoming spirit of this city. The cruise itself was very calm and slow. Just a smooth ride down the Cass River and back. There's lots of time to take in the scenery and you learn a lot. The gentleman narrating our tour was knowledgeable and had a great voice on the microphone. I actually thought it was a recording for the first few minutes, but he introduced himself and explained that his son was the boat captain. He shared the history of Frankenmuth and the surrounding area and when he tells you the popcorn they sell on board is the best you'll ever have, he's not lying. The popcorn was the surprise star of this cruise! For only $2 you get this bag of fresh salty delicious popcorn and they actually encourage you to toss some to the ducks on the river. It was really fun watching them Rush up to the boat and watching the children laughing and enjoying themselves. I love popcorn though so unfortunately the ducks had to share with me because it was definitely the best $2 popcorn I've ever had! This is a must if you're in Frankenmuth and I'm so glad we got to experience it. We had such a nice time that we bought some souvenirs on our way off the boat, including a little Captain's hat for my husband to match the one we had for our pup already. We had the murder mystery lunch and she accommodated a vegan and 2 vegetarians and as had tomato bisque, scones and sandwiches. We also had a peach cobbler dessert. At 6, we had a ghost hunter named Bob and his wife give us a tour and tell us stories, it was really interesting and they were a lot of fun. The scones are the best renditions I've found this side of the Atlantic. I consider myself to be an amateur scone connoisseur after eating plenty on trips abroad (would that just be called an American that eats scones? ), and these scones were amazing. They were presented with clotted cream, which is a rarity in America. None of that mattered to the rest of my party - they loved the scones independently. They are that good. Apart from that, we were served cucumber sandwiches, strawberry sandwiches, tea and coffee on china perfectly patterned for a tea party in a 1900s-era mansion. Following, we had soup and salad, both of which were very good. The staff was attentive, the food was good, the atmosphere was adorable. Again, don't miss the scones. The mansion is beautiful. Apart from impressive architecture, much is original or has been restored in the time period. It's so pretty, and as many of the guest rooms were empty on this particular day, the staff was happy to let us tour. Holly, one of the owners, even gave us a brief history lesson of the place, including her personal ghost stories. She was quick to note that the Lapeer Historical Society presents a tour of the Peters Mansion, so she is not the authority on the history, but was happy to answer what questions she could. They're working on restoring the ballroom on the third floor! I can only imagine. And we're planning on returning for that. We learned that they're open most Saturdays for visitors (which we never knew) and plan on returning with some other family members for that, too. The staff allowed our party to continue for a few hours, allowing us to enjoy our time and never rushed us. They even jumped in to offer to take group pictures! They were just nice people, and you could tell that they enjoyed entertaining in the beautiful mansion. Highly recommend. I'm sad we didn't do this earlier and plan to make it a tradition!

Even the bathroom was luxurious in its own way - but the best part was the breakfast. Maureen clearly has amazing skills in the kitchen. Even though the food itself was simple, the flavors were well balanced and perfectly seasoned. She is also very tentative and when our car failed us, she loaned us her truck so my birthday dinner want ruined. How many B&B owners would do that for complete strangers? That's God at work people. It brought a tear to my eye. All in all, this was a great birthday weekend and we WILL be coming back!

Our room had an en-suite full bath and I was impressed by the instant hot water available even though we were on the second floor. There is a mini refrigerator in the hallway stocked with water and seltzer for all guests. The coffee nook downstairs is well stocked and has everything you need for a cup of tea, cocoa, or coffee. Alice welcomed us with fresh baked cookies, which was such a nice treat! Breakfast was excellent, especially the quiche and bacon! Location is terrific, prices are reasonable, and Myra is just a wonderful host. I recently went to Frankenmuth with my wife and 6 mo. old to meet up with both sets of grandparents for a weekend of fun and excitement. Leading up to the trip it was my job to find us a place to stay. All hotels within walking distance to Main St. are ~$200 each night where this B & B was much, much lower. There were 3 bedrooms and we were able to get all 3 for the visit which worked out perfectly. There is one bath upstairs but an emergency one on the main floor that is considered Myra's but she typically doesn't mind. There is also a nice 2nd story patio that was really relaxing at night and during the early morning hours. Myra provides all the fixings that a typical B & B provides but for those big breakfast types, there are places within walking distance to eat. I WILL be back staying at Tuscola B & B, just when is the question. Everyone in our party were very satisfied and are hoping that next year will work out for each side of the family.
