The Gentle Barn was clean and well-maintained and almost every animal had a "handler" who was super friendly, well-informed and chatty. We were three adults who spent 3 leisurely hours there, just enjoying the beautiful grounds and rescued farm animals. The Gentle Barn is perfect for all ages, but be aware that it may be hard to navigate if you have a physical disability... it IS a farm, not a paved exhibit. I really liked that the little gift shop had the option to buy a bale of hay for the animals for $20. What an easy and do-able way to help! (If you can leave there and buy 3-4 Starbucks drinks for your family, which we did, you can buy a bale of hay!) Don't sleep on this place. It is worth the very reasonable entrance fee, and the experience was incredibly special.

They follow appropriate procedures for avoiding any cross contamination, required vetting, and administering meds when needed. They have supplies and cute items for your pets too and all purchases go back to supporting the cats care! They mainly take in strays and surrendered cats, so consider taking one or two home and give them the love they desire!

I know many vets donate their time or greatly reduce their fes. if this is not happening for them..they need to bring in someone to negotiate fees or get some volunteer hours from a vet. ty.

His normal place sent him a last minute email that they had accidentally overbooked and he would be waitlisted. By last minute, I mean 30 mins before we were going to leave and drop him off. In a panic, we found Country Acres, who was able to take him last minute. They are incredible kind and patient, despite us getting every piece of information wrong. We knew his pup was in good hands, because all of the handlers we met were so nice and understanding, and at pick up explained he had actually ran out of food in the morning and they supplemented. The facility is extremely well maintained, offers additional services to really make your furry family member feel at home or pampered.

The cat house is amazing, and I loved how many cats were able to free roam around the offices and large room. So, I decided to start volunteering. In the couple of weeks I've been volunteering, I've been impressed with the staff. They work so hard and are so helpful to anyone who comes in. They genuinely care about the work they do and every single fur ball they meet. The place is so clean without having that whole medicinal and cold vibe you see in some shelters. The cats are generally happy and have all sorts of enrichment opportunities at their disposal. Five Acres also does a ton of services for the community. There's an entire area and staff dedicated solely to helping pet owners in need. That's awesome for anyone struggling to get back on their feet.
