If you're not familiar with his name you've certainly seen some of his art. He was an illustrator and painter whose themes included fantasy and science fiction. His works can be seen on paperback covers, in comic books, album covers and posters. He has worked with Presidents and the Hollywood elite. The museum is run by his son Frank Frazetta Jr and Frank Jr's family. The tour was given by Laura, Frank Sr's daughter in law. His grandchildren work the gift shop counter. The grounds surrounding the museum are private property where Frank lived with his wife, Eleanor. As far as museum experiences go, this was one of my absolute favorites! Having the family telling the history of his life and works was an added bonus you rarely get. As Laura was speaking of her father in law, you got a sense of his humility and love for his family. What a gem, located in the picturesque Pocono Mountain area! Stop by, you won't be disappointed.

This specific facility was mentioned during the cruise. So we drove over to this historical society. Asked park security booth if museum was open. The red headed female said yes, charged us $6 to park. We walked over to the museum. The woman inside the Museum said the place was closed. We told her the security person told us the museum was open and then proceeded to charge us six dollars to enter. As we are walking back to our car, we saw the same redheaded female walk over to another building. We told her the museum was closed. She said, "I didn't know". The historical society should give operating hours to the person at the security booth. Very poor customer service and Rip Off!!!

The building dates back to the 1800's and was once the home of the Morris Canal lock keeper. Each room in this two story building has a theme relating to Lake Hopatcong's rich history. Lenni Lenape artifacts dating as far back as 4,000 BC are on display including: arrowheads, stone tools and pottery. Lake Hopatcong was a vital part of the Morris Canal system (1825-1910) and a full room is devoted to it. During this time period ice was harvested from the lake and represented a major industry. From (1880's-1930), the lake became a summer resort for the rich and powerful of New York City. They built castles, summer homes and hotels on the shores of the lake and many celebrates came to visit. Babe Ruth, Betty Cooper (Miss America 1937), Teddy Roosevelt, Hudson Maxim and Thomas Edison were just some names that visited the lake. Entertainers like Abbott & Costello, Lotta Crabtree and Joe Cook (major vaudeville & NYC theater star of the 1920's) came to perform in the many hotels and entertainment centers that existed on the lake. Another important attraction on the lake was the Bertrand's Island Amusement Park (1920's-1983). It was the most recognized amusement park for it's time and featured a famous roller coaster. There is a lot to see in this historical museum and admission is free.

Luna Parc is a gem! RISD graduate Ricky Boscarino purchased…read morean ordinary looking house and property in Sandyston NJ in 1989. Then, the work and fun began. For the past 36 years, he has been creating Luna Parc. First thing to note is that Ricky still lives and works here, so you cannot simply decide to visit whenever you like. You must check his website and go on specific dates at specific times when he welcomes visitors. We went 10/31/25 and paid $20. each. That is a fee similar to what an art museum might charge. When one visits an art museum, one sees art on the walls or sculptures that one might walk around. At Luna Parc one experiences art that way, but also one is IN the artwork. Sandyston is in a beautiful, remote area of northwest NJ, near Stokes State Forest and Delaware Water Gap. For us, it was an almost 3 hour drive each way. I am not complaining. It was well worth the journey. I do not know what adjectives to use to describe Luna Parc - magical, mystical, wonderful, unique, awesome, spectacular, marvelous, delightful. Really no verbal description or even photographs can do Luna Parc justice. One simply must experience this place! Ricky is an amazing multi-media artist. The house is 11 levels, not 11 storeys tall though because levels stick out of the core in various ways. The 11th is the roof and Ricky cannot build any higher (town code) but he will continue creating inside the house and on the grounds. All I can say is, book a tour and go!

When I arrived people parked along the side of the road outside the entrance. I didn't know what to expect but I was impressed as soon as I walked in the front gate. I arrived early and we were allowed to walk around the property outside the house. The house is beautiful on the outside. The artist Ricky does a short introduction about his life and his home before letting everyone self tour his home. Ricky was super friendly and approachable to ask questions and tell stories about his life's work. Every room is more beautiful and unique than the next! I will definitely be back to see what other things Ricky adds in the future!

A Small & Free Community Museum Hidden in a Community Park…read more Morris Plains Museum is designed to teach how Morris Plains became the "Community of Caring" emblazoned on wall murals and local signage. They are only open on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Saturdays of the month from 10AM-2PM so you only have a few hours a week to discover more about the history Morris Plains. This is currently a free museum. So there are no worries if you want to stop in for a quick visit of this location and learn a little bit about Morris Plains. There is a donation bowl discretely set up on the entrance display if you would like to support the Morris Plains Museum financially. To find this little Easter Egg of a museum you can follow the signage on the front of the Morris Plains Community Center and in the middle of the parking lot next to Brown Field. Just head down to the lower lot and you will be right where you want to be. This place is surprisingly kid friendly. It has an Interactive Play Area for Children full of toys and games from when Morris Plains was originally being founded. We found it to be great fun for kids and kids at heart. It seems everything of value is safely behind a protective case so you do not have to hover over your little one(s) like a hawk while checking the museum. There is also a private restroom large enough to bring in a stroller and take care of your little one(s) needs. Learn about notable Morris Plains natives and establishments like Homer Davenport, Jonathan Roberts, Julia Beers, Monahan's Band, Morris Plains Fire Department, Greystone Park, and Local Churches. I particularly liked the exhibits on Davenport, the Morris Plains Fire Department, and St. Paul's Episcopal Church. We were fortunate enough to run into Larry who was once the Fire Chief of the Morris Plains Fire Department who was happy to tell us about the exhibits and share all of his insider knowledge about the Morris Plains Fire Department display. We happened to arrive on a day when the volunteers of the museum were meeting. They were more than happy to take time out of their meeting to ensure we felt welcome and tell us all about the pieces that they had on display at the museum. If you have a chance I highly recommend that you try to check out this museum during a volunteer meeting so that you can also experience all the wonderful things that the volunteers of the museum have to offer. Once you are done checking out the museum you can enjoy some time outside at the Community Park where there are baseball fields, tennis & basketball courts, a playground, a pond, and a community pool. It is these extra amenities that make this place a great place to check out on a Saturday afternoon.

Not a lot of clothing options. Mostly accessories booths. Food is provided by food trucks who do take card. Flushing privies are at a building belonging to the camp grounds that they've turned into a stage/pub in the middle. Cider/beer is $8. Taverns are cash only, which btw, there is a beautiful speakeasy-like tavern that is 21+ and that makes me SOOO HAPPY! Real rennies will fully appreciate this! The tavern wench is even in character. Huzzah to her! All around this Faire seems much more well organized and reasonable than the one in Tuxedo that I've been going to since I was 12. Even though the storm forced us out early, I can't wait to be back! Huzzah to a Faire that is more about YOU and not your wallet!
