Quote: "I DON'T CARE IF IT TOOK 5 - 10 MINS IT'S WHAT I CHARGED...AND IT'S WHATS YOU'RE GONNA PAY!" I was charged an extra $195.00 for 3 hours of labor on a 30 minute job! They DID NOT do what they CLAIMED was required. I HAVE PICTURES TO PROVE MY CLAIM. Definitive proof!!! THEY LIED TO MY FACE! The owner cursed...referring to me as an EPITHET while I was trying to get him to listen to my concerns!! He threatened to charge me for daily storage of my vehicle if I did not pay the exorbitant bill!!! I was INTIMIDATED and COERCED into paying TWICE the amount of what I was quoted while they held my vehicle hostage! I wonder how many other people are being unknowingly charged for work that's NOT ACTUALLY BEING DONE! I was reassured by a number of professions that the job was VERY simple and would only take minutes - NOT 3 HOURS!!! I also watched SEVERAL videos demonstrating the process which INFURIATED me after seeing how simple the process was! I was led to believe that their technicians had to endure 3 hours of tedious work to complete the job! I had taken my vehicle to get them to repair a power steering fluid leak, they wanted $70 just to…read morelook at it. The leak at the time I brought it to them it was a slow leak where I could drive about 150 miles before I had to refill the power steering reservoir. They called later the same day and told me that the pinion section of the rack had a hairline crack that was causing the leak. I had told the lady at the counter when I checked in that if the repair cost was over $250 that they were to call me before work. I was told that it would cost $1300 to install a new one and I told them that was more than expected. I asked them to put it back together and I'd be there to pay the $70 and drive it home. This shop was mad because I didn't want to pay them $1300 where I can buy a new rack and pinion unit for $170 and install it myself !! Don't do any business with these people, their crooks!!!

However, my last oil change turned in to a nightmare. Within 4 hours of getting maintenance service including an oil change and fluid top-off, my car started making some strange noises, and hazard codes started lighting on the dashboard (engine and a turtle- I thought the turtle was cute but turns out that turtle is the mean, snapping kind. You do NOT want to see that on your dash! ) I called, recapped the story, and they immediately came with a wrecker to tow and inspect my car. Much appreciated. However, during the course of all this, I spoke to 3-4 different receptionists, having to retell the incident over and over. Anytime I asked to speak directly to Randy, "he is too busy to talk. If he comes in the office, I will tell him you want to speak with him. But he is always in the back working, so that isn't likely." I'm sorry. WHAT?? I wasn't argumentative, I am familiar with this business as my father was a mechanic, I know coincidence isn't always causation. So I continue to be baffled at the lack of any communication on his (or the mechanic that worked on my car) part. They requested taking it to Specialty Auto for further diagnostics. They sent a video to Specialty of the horrible sound it was making before the engine completely stopped running...and one of the receptionists explained to me the car was already making that awful noise BEFORE the oil change. Why lie? No it wasn't. Furthermore, if the car was making a concerning sound they noticed while doing routine maintenance, why didn't anyone say to me, "hey, your car sounds awful. We should do further diagnostics." They have done that in the past and we have graciously accepted the offer and moved forward when and if they found anything wrong. Lying and completely refusing to speak to a customer when the engine of their car isn't working anymore after JUST getting an oil change is NOT the type of repair service I like. Turns out, it was a drive belt. Nothing to do with the engine nor the oil change. Something they surely could have helped with. But they didn't. Don't know why. A company that avoids problems by ignoring customers and allows staff to lie about the service is not the company for me. Sadly, we won't be back to Randy's Tire and Lube.

Car Care & Repair LLC used the FIRST $126 to rack up a potential profit of $1,1817.30, minus $713 for two rear Continental tires. The remaining EXPLORATORY let-us-find-other-unrelated-BS-concerns-to-sell-you included the following replacements: cabin air filter ($133.56), engine air filter element ($215.47), Engine Coolant Expansion tank ($54.86), "BFLUSH" or break fluid flush ($120.43), Oil and filter change, synthetic ($134.53), and "align EURO" ($159.95). None of this had any relation to the check engine light, which O'Reilly diagnosed for free with the code for emission leak, generally related to a loose gas cap. So, Car Care & Repair, LLC, charges the SECOND $126 fee to diagnose the original problem, and claims the cost involved tools and equipment to locate the problem, which everyone knows is the cost of doing business. The owner said charges include his having to do an Internet search because the vehicle is a newer model. Again, COST of doing business. Why should a customer take the HIT of his lack of knowledge? Taking Scam Artistry to another level, Car Care & Repair, LLC, charges ALL CUSTOMERS A FEE FOR HAZMAT REMOVAL, regardless if they dispose of anything related to your vehicle or service. We were scammed $25.35. Now, ERIC, who identified himself as the owner was contacted for an explanation, not only was he initially rude, defensive, and obnoxious but failed to understand the concern with the fact that Car Care & Repair, LLC, FAILED TO GIVE NOTICE OF THE TWO DIAGNOSIS FOR THE ONE ISSUE. WHAT CAR CARE & REPAIR, LLC DID NOT KNOW: The vehicle is up-to-date on its scheduled maintenance service (A & B) by Mercedes and was recently serviced this year, a few months. The Servicer confirmed that an oil change and all items (SCAMS) are not necessary and to bring the vehicle in when in town to have the check engine light CLEARED. As for the tire replacements, Car Care & Repair, LLC, will not be doing that or any other jobs for our three vehicles. We'd rather drive the distance to an honest CERTIFIED Mercedes center or the dealership, being that none exist in Sumter. BEWARE of Car Care & Repair, LLC! Don't say you weren't warned.
