The service is great and they are mindful about what plants to recommend planting depending on the time of year and what types of soil to use to help the plants thrive. While they may be lower on inventory than large big-box stores, they only bring in annuals when they should be planted and what they do have is much healthier than what I have found at other stores. With the reduction in number of local garden centers, I definitely recommend making the drive right outside of Old Town area of Winston-Salem.

This place in many places can feel like an adventure into another world. Part greenhouse, part antique shop, part cat habitat (which I appreciate). Inside, you'll see some very attractive decor, and even room setups incorporating interesting plants that will set your design desire alight. Outside, the journey through the plant selection and greenhouse itself can often feel like wandering through a jungle. I definitely spotted some plants I have never seen before. That said, each time I was intrigued to learn and potentially but a plant, sticker shock made me put it right back down. Even for plants I know well and are pretty common and I could tell by their operation are easily propagated, I was dissuaded by the price from taking it home. So in general, prepare to be inspired, but also be prepared that you may not be able to buy everything you want here. Otherwise, this place is a very cool journey.

It was a cute event and an even cuter venue. There was live music, a representative from Medalloni Wines who had rosé as well as a charcuterie cart that was great. The ticket included two glasses of wine, charcuterie, and Guilford Garden Center gave us 15% off our purchases. They also offer gardening classes, which I definitely will take in the future. They have a variety of different plants, vases, garden essentials, and garden accents that in my opinion were reasonably priced. I enjoyed my time there and the staff was very kind.

I saw some buckets with lovely items - cut greenery - and on the window, there were prices for x number of stems. It looked like they were selling them. This woman about to enter the store raised her voice and was telling me things - she was rude and spoke with what seemed to be an Irish accent. I assumed she was a customer so I basically told her I didn't ask for her to say anything to me. About a minute later, this nice guy comes out and helps me, which I appreciated;however, this is the last time I buy from Godley's. The woman was someone who should NEVER be around customers. She has zero customer service. Since the guy came out to help me so quickly, I believe this rude woman actually works there. Sadly, this experience is enough - their flats of annuals aren't worth giving $$$ to a company either run by or employs this person without keeping her completely away from all customers. I have bought their mixed Garden Soil from them for the past 2 growing seasons and have been pleased with the product both times. If I had bought this much bagged top soil and bagged compost from a big box store I'd have spent at least twice as much and then I'd have to mix it myself. The Mulch Yard not only offers soil but also different types of gravel and of course, different types of mulches. The owners are friendly and are happy to answer any questions that you may have.
