There's nothing I love more than walking into a store that is family owned and run and does not feel the necessity to be modern and fancy, but rather focuses on product and service and pride. That's Frank's Summit Shoe Shop! I have been going to Frank's off and on for years since I live in the Dunleath historic neighborhood. I love this place. You walk in and you are literally stepping back in time, in the best possible way. Frank, who is the owner, not only runs the place, but does the majority of the work. He can do anything. Resole your shoes, give you a new heel, fix a broken zipper or polish your boots. Not only does he do all repairs, but one of my favorite features of this store is that he sells used shoes and boots in great condition, which is why I went there the other day!. I bought a pair of black boots from him about a decade ago when I was doing Fiddler on the Roof. They look great and the price was excellent but at this point they are a bit stiff and hard on my feet. So, I stopped by Frank's the other day to see if he might have a different pair in that I am performing again in Fiddler on the Roof and we open this week! As if God had sent me to Frank's, there they were. A pair of brown comfortable boots. That would be perfect for my character in the show, and boy did they feel good on my feet. The price was a little higher than I had anticipated, but everything is higher now and I think sometimes my mind still lives in the price range of a decade ago. In either case they were well worth the $69, and having worn them for 3 days of rehearsal, I could not be happier. This is one of those stores that I almost hate to tell you about because I'm afraid he'll be overwhelmed with customers and there will be no time for me! LOL. But in the spirit of Yelp promoting businesses that deserve attention and patronage, Frank's Summit Shoe Shop is tops. Located conveniently in a strip shopping center at the intersection of Bessemer Avenue and Summit Avenue, Frank's is a gem. What even surprised me more was that when we started chatting he knew all about Community Theater of Greensboro and even was hoping to attend the production! Whether your favorite old shoes need some TLC or you are on the market for a pair of slightly used shoes or boots, Frank's is the place to go. Frank is great at repairing in detail and has a high quality level in his work. He is also the nicest cobbler that you will ever meet

I have had more dress shoes repaired and re-soled than I can remember over the last 30 plus years. Frank's may have done the best job I've ever seen. I am outside Frank's Summit in my car just quickly taking two minutes of my day to write this review so that others are aware of how valuable this local small business are when they are operated by wonderful people. I came in and was greeted with a smile and a genuine how are you? after let's talk about the quality of work, my Gabor expensive boots sole look brand new, no sloppy work anywhere in sight. Last, what truly drove me to write this for others is the response I received from the gentleman who I paid. I paid and out of my own will even gave a little extra, but it shock me at how surprised he looked which prompted me to ask the following: you don't ask for tips?! lol. His response was so humble and polite: he said, "no I simply want to do good work for my customers to come back." This type of service is epic and so rare these days! I told him wow! may the Lord increase you even more for not asking or expecting tips. I am forever in support and will continue to visit his business!
