Timeline and Details: - Feb 06: I had my first call with Frank to discuss the process of filing my personal taxes. Frank seemed very knowledgeable on the phone. We scheduled an in-person meeting to discuss more. - Feb 13: Had in-person meeting. I was very impressed with Frank and I wanted to move forward with using his service for my personal filing. Frank told me that he, or his staff, will email me a share drive link. In this link, I would have to upload all related tax documents (W-2, income, housing, etc.) - Feb 18: I sent Frank an email asking for the share drive link. It's possible that I needed to explicitly tell Frank that I'd like to move forward with his services, but this was not clear to me. - Feb 21: I called Frank's office asking for the Share drive link. I was told that Frank was in a meeting with another client, but the share drive link would be sent that day. - Feb 25: I sent Frank a 2nd email asking for the share drive link. There has been no response update from my previous call or email (Feb 18 + Feb 21). Frank replied to my 2nd email with the share drive link. I replied to Frank's share drive link email stating that I would upload all files / documents in the coming days, and I would would send another email to Frank confirming that all files have been uploaded. - Feb 26: I sent Frank an email stating that all files have been uploaded to the provided share drive. - Mar 19: I sent an email to Frank asking about the status of my tax return. It's been 21 days since I sent Frank an email confirming that all my Tax return files have been uploaded, and no response. - Mar 24: No response to my previous email asking for an update on my filing status. I called the office, and was told that Frank didn't have my files. I stated that all my files were updated in the provided share drive. I was told Frank would take a look at my files. - Mar 27: No response from Frank via email or call. I sent another email asking for an update on my filing status. This is the timeline and details of my experience working with Frank. While I believe Frank is very knowledgeable person, his lack of response and follow-through is unacceptable. I do understand that this is a busy time for CPAs. As a new client, I would have preferred if Frank told me his bandwidth is too thin, and I should look elsewhere. I do believe if you work with Frank 100% in-person, that your experience would be better. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend Frank to file your personal tax returns.

Lo and behold, after rearranging my schedule, Frank Frye either "forgot about the call" (not very comforting for your tax representative) or just didn't care enough about his client to honor his commitment. Basically I was stood up and told he went to the pharmacist and would call me back in 45 minutes. 45 minutes later he did not call. He eventually called and left a message 4 hrs later, after I got my answer from one of their competitors. Yep, no apology or explanation. When I emailed regarding his unprofessionalism, he responded, not with an apology or explanation, but rather with a classless veiled threat that my questioning where I needed to file constituted asking him to commit tax fraud. Being a former FBI agent, I found this not only insulting but also worrisome that someone so volatile has access to people's financial information and is tasked with possibly representing you with the IRS. I got my question answered with one phone call to Exacta. After discussing their services I found out they were over $120.00 cheaper for the exact same services and I am having them review my past returns that were prepared by Frye.

I needed to obtain my 2012 tax papers that I'd left at his house, and did not have time to stop by to pick them up. Incidentally, he didn't mention his business was at his house before my first appt. Home businesses are great, but I - and my GPS - would just have appreciated knowing this ahead of time! I didn't have time to stop by again because I was busy moving. I figured for the price I paid him, I'd earned some documents sent back via mail. I asked him kindly to send the papers a few times. Again, no response ... one week, two weeks, three. I did, however, receive a nice automated thank you email or two emphasizing the importance of Yelp reviews to his business and inviting me to leave one! Finally I told him that I'd found his communication skills disappointing, to say the least, and asked him to clarify if he'd sent/or would send my papers back. His response made it clear that he preferred clients picking things up at his house mail box (regardless apparently of his clients' lives/needs/ schedules/preferences); sending client documents back via postal mail -- which I'd consider standard/reasonable considering what I paid -- was in his view " a favor that he could accommodate under special circumstances"!!!! (Apparently only after being asked how many times?) (I did finally receive the documents, several weeks later - via certified mail.) Greg put his own preferences and concerns above mine (his client). He was inattentive, and arrogant. Next time, I hope to find someone more considerate, and thoughtful.
