I asked for help with an unfiled tax return that was a little bit complicated, and I let them know multiple times that I was concerned about the pro-rata calculation for a roth conversion in a previous year. The accountant they assigned (Jonathon B) was not competent enough to even understand, so it never crossed his mind that he was doing it wrong, despite the fact that I had given him the correct forms. After he completed my return, but before filing, I asked him multiple times to explain how he did a pro-rata calculation. Instead he confused the pro-rata calculation with marginal tax rate, and tried to explain that the software did it. After I asked him to clarify multiple times (because he didn't account for prior contributions) he stopped answering my messages. On asking someone else at the firm for escalation to a different accountant, I was told that Jonathon is one of their most experienced accountants, and that they do not have any CPAs on staff, nor could they provide a referral to one.
