The difference between Kort and the other home health agencies is extreme! Let me tell you why. - [ ] The longest an agency has ever stayed in the home was 6 weeks. It has now been 3 months. Awesome! - [ ] Therapists care about me at Kort. As long as I show improvement, they want to stay and cheer me on. - [ ] We constantly meet goals and make new ones! Over and over. - [ ] I always know when they are going to be here. - [ ] Diligent on working with insurance to make sure visits get covered. - [ ] We do skills/tests and compare with previous times. It not only helps justify to insurance but me as well to remind me how far I have come. - [ ] POC is never boring. Always finding new ways to exercise or incorporate them into my daily routine. - [ ] Whenever I had pain from a visit they would help me through it and we would be back at it again in no time. Therapy didn't give up on me, they empowered me! I never imagined how far I could progress. - [ ] My endurance has quadrupled. I can clean the counters off in the kitchen. I can make meatloaf and tortellini! I was lucky to warm up meals in the microwave before. - [ ] When I had to go to the basement during storms, I felt confident to manage the steps. - [ ] I can use my left hand again. Wash my hair with both arms/hands. I have a pencil grasp again!! I can open and close my hand again. Before, I felt as if my hand was just hanging there. I didn't do much with it. - [ ] My balance is back. I can self correct when I stumble. - [ ] I use a cane now. I use the rollator only during the bad days of MS. I'm sorry, I have to repeat that, I use a cane now!! I haven't used one in 5 years!!!! I couldn't ask for a better experience or better therapists. Southern Care does have some kind caring staff, but we were assigned an inexperienced nurse who was inattentive and really only wanted to leave as soon as possible. Prescriptions were a nightmare, the technician for setting up oxygen left with the tank wrench. In the most basic sense, when we needed them at times they wouldn't come. There is no way I would recommend or use this company. You have a few choices in Southern Indiana, this work is important, I would look elsewhere.

I visited my mother 6 to 7 times per week but this staff provided extra sets of eyes on my mom during her declining battle with cancer. The group from SouthernCare - New Albany worked with the staff at mom's nursing home/residence to provide the type of additional care that I needed help with. I won't go into details but this team helped me keep my mother's pain level under control and made her comfortable when she was at her worst. Advice was provided and help was only a phone call or text away. They were hands on without being dominating and this service which is free was priceless.

I was then told that the best that could be done was for me to call her, leave my name number and reason for calling, I suggested just a moment of her time while I was there and was told she was much to busy dealing with current patients, after all they take precedent over current patients.
