We were getting married in less than 3 weeks and decided to book dance lessons... why not? How hard could it be to pick up a dance in that short of time?! Well... challenging it was when we have 4 left feet (2 for me and 2 for my fiancé at the time- Now husband)! Mar was ABSOLUTELY amazing! In Jan 2017, I hobbled into the Fred Astaire Delray Beach Dance Studio with right knee pain, two left feet, no rhythm, and a desire to learn only the salsa. Eighteen months later, I am socially proficient in twelve dances, have competed in three dance competitions (the first after only 4 months), and have the ability to move my hips. But, more importantly, dancing has truly changed my life. Back, in 2010, I had my knee reconstructed with a new ACL and repair of two meniscuses but my knee never quite recovered from this injury... until I started to dance. After a month of dancing, I noticed a significant improvement in my knee. And, after six months of dancing, the knee pain is completely gone and I am back to leading a very active lifestyle. I owe it all to Mar & Clifton! They are excellent instructors, great motivators, and true friends!! And, as an added bonus, I have developed friendships with other dancers through the daily group lessons and weekly practice dance parties. Years ago, I came across a group of people dancing the tango on a warm summer evening in Central Park, NY. There were young couples and older couples; there were couples in their 80s still strutting their stuff with grace, passion, and rhythm. It was so "life-affirming." I love walking into this studio. I never truly appreciated dance but Mar and Clifton really opened my eyes up to the under-appreciated formal dance world...or should I say dance sport world. This is the best dance studio you will ever find. The teachers are world class. They have created a fun, comfortable environment that is very welcoming to new students. My wife and I learned a wedding dance at another studio and while we enjoyed it- the experience was far less personal and engaging. I cannot recommend the studio more to anyone who might want to dance or has danced before!!! Mar, Cliff, Katya and Artem have been our coaches and are completely invested in making us love dancing.
