I've always had good experiences with this Fred Meyer. Not the biggest selection but they've always had what I was after and they've been making some changes. However, what is currently prompting me to write this review was a young woman named Amy who has been at the self checkout area the last two times I've been here. The first time was during a rush but Amy didn't seem frustrated or overwhelmed. She smiled at everyone and was friendly and efficient. Tonight the self checkout was rather slow so of course she was just as wonderful as the last time. I wish everyone at Fred Meyer was like her but obviously this is steps above the service usually receive, not that your other employees are bad, don't get me wrong. Tonight the store was well stocked and I enjoy the hours that I shop. This store can be very crazy at times but go late in the evening and the store will be empty. The clerk cashing me out was very friendly. He seemed to enjoy his job which is nice. During the peek hours, they try their best to keep the lines short to ensure you don't have to wait long. read more

The employees and manager are very rude and unprofessional. This is the first and only Fred Meyer I have ever had any issues with. I do all my shopping at FM and will NEVER go into this store again. I was treated very rudely by a manager named Steve and the CS clerk that was working. I was at this location for an eye appointment and went in to return a gift I received. I was treated like a thief because I did not have a receipt. I was told I could not return the item because I had made a return in March of 2014 without a receipt. No attempt to help me was made and when I pointed out that I knew that was not their policy and not what was listed right at the service desk he just became ruder. I went a few days later to my regular FM and the happily returned the item and gave me store credit for it's value. The manager and clerk are very bad at their jobs in Oregon City FM or racist. I have shopped here for years. It is extremely busy inside and the parking lot at high shopping times. Zooish Please get more grocery baggers. This store is NOT senior or disable friendly because you need more baggers and cashiers. You have to bag your own. I was having health issues and no baggers. I barely got finished bagging when the next persons food was coming down the belt. I like the selection of items in the clothing and make up. I prefer Canby Fred's over this store anyway but I come here because it's closer. read more

I'm so impressed with Kelly in the Pharmacy. She was slammed and our prescription sort of got lost. She took it upon herself to make sure we got it and out the door in as timely a manner as possible given the volume of the day. read more

I hate this particular store of Fred Meyers in Oregon City. I've been to others and they're not so bad unfortunately the staff here is slow and are not friendly. I live just 1 mile away so have been there many many times...I do my best to avoid it though when possible. Meat is sub standard and Bakery is aweful. read more

Since the onset of COVID I order delivery from Fred Meyers every month, no small orders either. Normally there are no issues, at least not until July. Now I know it is not their fault that the driver paid no attention to my address, nor that I was responding directly to his text on which apartment and where I was located. I was even at the door waiting and texting asking where he was, with no response. After 15 minutes I realized that he had left my order somewhere else, so I kept texting asking where.. no response. No response from residents either - someone was excited to get free groceries I'm sure. Since I was in constant contact with the driver with no response whatsoever I asked Kroger for a refund of my items. The apologized and agreed. What I got was the driver tip returned. Not the amount for the groceries. EVERY time I inquire they say I need to contact customer support, which I have.... 5 times, in which each person tells me again to contact customer support... and so the loop begins. Email after email. Call after call. Not good service, and though I know my family and I are of no matter consequence to the chain and my piddly $300-$400 I spend each month, I will not return. I will shop anywhere else but a place that just wants you to go away when their driver made the mistake. Sad. Really sad Freddies. read more

Today was the last time I will ever shop at any Fred Meyer Store. I am an honerable and disabled veteran with the Integrity of a US Marine and it's absolutely rediculous I get followed around the store while shopping, by multiple people who stick out like a sore thumb and are terrible at being covert. Today was the last straw as I went to the customer service desk to speak with a Manager about my concern that I hate feeling like I'm being labelled a thief by his staff. He was rude, did not care one bit and his tone suggested he also thought I was just a theif that was mad for getting noticed or something. When I handed him my basket of items and said unfortunately im taking my business elsewhere, he chuckled and said sarcastically, "Sounds wonderful sir, have a great day". I have worked as management in a customer service environment. This type of behavior is absolutely unnacceptable and Fred Meyer has shown me that my business is not appreciated and being mocked by management in front of other customer when I tried to voice concern was the thanks I got for trying to resolve my issue. Last thing. A couple months ago I was at starbucks next door to Freddy's when I saw a man get tackled by a Fred Meyer employee for trying to run after shoplifting. His nose was bleeding and he asked why he tackled him like that and felt assauted by the man. The man said he can stick around and report it to the police as they are on their way. The man limped away as the aggressor shouted condescending remarks at him. The thief took what looked like some milk(which exploded everywhere), a box of kids cereal, and a few lunchables. The contact sent everything flying so the food was no longer purchasable anyway and no loss had been prevented. A man was injured and publicly embarrassed, as I was... The man looked poor and stole only a few food items probably for his child who is hungry, judging by the type of food. Maybe talking to the man about his situation and giving advice on getting help through DHS and maybe issuing a warning might have been a better way to handle that situation I dunno. Its not like he had electronic equipment or other valuable goods. Just a little food that all went to waste anyway when he was assaulted by Fred Meyer staff. Discrimination is still out there. My boyfriend who works as a welder/ construction worker and is clearly Mexican went in to buy 24 pack of waters and Red Bull's for his crew and was stopped right after a white lady who works there saw him checkout. He obviously had his hands full with all the drinks and the lady was starting to raise her voice when he told he that she had seen him pay. Either way my boyfriend put down the items and pulled out the receipt as a white man walked by with almost the exact same things and was not asked to show a receipt. Once he pulled out the receipt she examined it for more than a minute even through it was just 2 items, my boyfriend told her that he only got two things what else is she looking for on the receipt? She then finally let him go after going through all the trouble to see that he had bought the items and got many looks from people around too for no reason. Do better people it's 2022. read more

As usual, Fred Meyer in Oregon City did not disappoint. I've set the bar so low for Fred Meyer's in genera and as a resident of the Portland area for over 40 years I've had plenty of experience with them. So, today's journey was heading in to get a small, men's hair trimmer. Of course they were locked in a case, I can't hold that against them, but I pushed the button to get help. Mind you the store was not particularly busy, and I waited. 5 minutes passed and I pushed the button again for help. Another 5 minutes passed, nothing. Pushed the button a third time, another 5 minutes passed. Nothing. Now, I'm just annoyed, since I'm paying about 30% more for the "convenience" of shopping there than what I'd pay for the same clipper off Amazon with free Prime delivery. I went to the customer service desk to voice my displeasure and the girl's response was "gee, that's too bad." Seriously? That is why I only get gas at the store, the gas guys are on top of their game and the entire grocery department could take lessons from them. I'll give it a few more weeks, a couple of months, I'll convince myself something has gotten better or be desperate enough to purchase something there and be dissapointed with them all over again. Well-managed store with competitive prices for the most part but sadly lacking in a robust offering of organic and natural foods.

I used to enjoy shopping at this Fred Meyer. Not anymore! In my opinion someone messed up this remodel. We really don't need a bar inside of Fred Meyer. Also the new aisle towards the back of the store has disrupted the traffic patterns. Everyone seems disoriented and in each other's way. I have met many other people at Albertson's or Safeway who say that they used to shop at Fred's also and can't stand it anymore. This is not just a matter of getting used to it. The last time they did a remodel it was confusing for a couple of weeks but then it was fine. This remodel is terrible. read more

This would be a five. It is a great store, nice staff, good selection, decent price. There is only one complaint and it's big. The bathroom is terrible. It smells, the toilet is always filthy, both toilet paper dispensers in the men's room are broken and the seat covers are always ripped up. No one seems to be caring for their restroom. When I worked at best buy they had a janitor and I think Fred Myer could benefit. read more

Awful shopping experience. EVERYONE looked stressed and/or unhappy. Wow have they gone downhill in how they treat employees and how they treat US, the customer. Crowded store, only 3 human - operated checkouts open plus those so-called "self check-outs" which are not user-friendly. Long checkout lines at all locations, overworked employees trying their best to help in the self-checkout. In spite of that good customer service I actually felt abused by the corporate system that actually thinks that increasing this automation at the expense of "the human touch" is a good idea. I know what the real motivation for all this is = $$$ at both customer and employee expense. Employees seem to be asked to carry the load of bad decisions. A real shame. No longer a FM shopper. I will travel extra miles to avoid any Fred Meyer store. read more

I just wanted to add to the "discussion" about the different Fred Meyers stores in the area where we live (Molalla), we have a choice of either OC or Canby. The crowds are horrendous at the OC store and hard to get helped or even find products.. Whereas the Canby Fredies, is clean, the help go above and beyond to help you, the gas station a block or so away has excellent help and no huge waiting lines where the gas clerks have one speed, SLOW, at OC. I always go to the Canby Fredies now unless I'm coming home from town and absolutely need something, then I do "Brave" the OC Fredies...Maybe the OC store has "issues" because it is so busy, but hiring more help could be an answer and people that actually know the merchandise and are helpful. read more

Best customer service EVER! I was in a wedding as best man and I'm from out of town and I completely forgot my white dress shirt. Luckily I found this place near the venue, ran in, and everyone was so incredibly helpful! The first gentleman I talked to over the phone took the time to ensure they had white dress shirts, then I came in and the lady at the register was super helpful showing me where men's attire was, then as I searched I was lucky to find a lady named Karen who was so friendly and helpful! She took the time to measure me and took the tags off the shirt so it'd be super quick trying it on. I've never had a friendlier experience at a retail store! The one thing that aggravates me about this place is they don't offer much assistance to the elderly and disable. I have assisted many customers with loading their groceries into their cars because the staff didn't offer or it was a long wait for someone to help. Just recently I noticed an older feeble gentleman who had stocked up on canned food and the cashiers had loaded the bags so heavy he was not able to lift the bags from his cart to the truck of his car. I walked over an loaded them for him. He was so appreciative and mention that they always do that and never offer him any assistance. My mother who has two very badly damaged shoulders has the same problem. The grocery store down the street always offers assistance even to the people that look able. I have never yelped a grocery store before however I love this store. They are not perfect because no one is but they do try. Great store, but don't buy their gas if you own a late 90's to early 00's vehicle. Your Check Engine light will come on and it's run rough. The ethanol in the fuel will kill your Oxygen Sensors, Ignition Coils and Spark Plugs eventually. And, if you're really unlucky, your car's computer will croak. Never buy grocery store gas. BTW, Safeway gas is the world's worst, IMO. I have an open incident case with them. read more

Fix the gas station! It's ridiculous that in Oregon City, where there are tons of diesel-powered vehicles, you would have 4 diesel pumps. Not only that, but they allow all fuel types, not diesel specific. Waiting behind 3 regular fuel cars while there are many open regular fuel lanes open, is ridiculous. Even Barber Blvd has diesel in every lane. At the very least, delegate 2 lanes to diesel only. read more

I've had many negative experiences at the Oregon City Fred Meyer with customer service. Today a customer service rep yelled at me when I tried to redeem my bottle return slip. He may have been frustrated the slips are printing incorrectly but it was unfair to take it out on me. I also don't like the long wait to return an item, often it's more than 30 minutes. The staff doesn't understand how their complicated sales work so they can't answer questions about it. If just seems like the staff are unhappy and don't like working at this location. read more

Just went to cash a check at the customer service area. At 3:20pm, February 8th. There was a blond woman in her late 40's, early 50's who was incredibly rude. I expressed irritation that she was having me sign my check again, even though I've never had a problem before. However, she began to laugh at me like it was funny. Multiple times. In front of my child. After telling her I wanted to speak to a manager I turned to my child and told him to never act like that. She then mumbled "Great example". The manager I spoke to didn't seem to care either and when I walked away they started talking about me, to the point my son said "Why is she talking about you?". Luckily I reassured him that some people really dislike their jobs and project that on others. Watch out for the angry witch if you go to customer service. She clearly needs some therapy. And perhaps a job where she can keep her mouth shut. read more

Went to fred meyer tonight with my 2 children. After we checked out we proceeded to the exit and when we got there (at 10:58) the doors were locked. I then asked the employee if he could please unlock the doors because I was parked right next to the door, and he said no, i would have to walk to the other door and then walk around the whole building in the rain to get back to my car. I asked him why they were locked if it wasnt even 11pm (closing time) yet, and again asked him if he could please unlock them or have someone that could come to the area so me and my 2 children wouldn't have to walk around the building in the rain. He again said no. I asked to speak with a manager and a gentleman named Tobias came over I explained my situation to him and he was very short and with a attitude told me that that was their policy so no one would open the other door. With Safeway, WINCO, Grocery Outlet, and Albertsons all with in a mile of the fred meyers I guess I will just take my business elsewhere. I was so upset by my recent trip to Fred Meyers in Oregon city. I downloaded the coupons on my phone in the parking lot. In the store I saw a sale for 1.99 with a digital coupon. I didn't recall seeing it so I searched my app. I couldn't find it. I tried using the QR code on the sign to no avail . The cashier told me not to worry it would show up. It didn't . I went yo customer service and she took my phone and tried to no avail . She told me it must be an old sale and refused to honor the sign. I went back and got the sign to show her it was on sale now. She very rudely asked me to show her my digital coupon. I said you know I can't it won't load on my phone . She saw I was getting upset and was ready to ask for a manager so she said ok I'll give it yo you. I wasn't rude. I told her I'm on a fixed income and was within my rights to ask for the refund. As I was leaving she made fun of me to her co worker. When I got home I called corporate headquarters and no one seems to care ! In will not be returning to that store read more

I am a huge fan of Fred Meyer but this store is going in the wrong direction! It used to be cramped and very old so they decided to remodel it, the word was it was going to be much better but they for sure missed the mark. It is a mess, let's make bigger isles so we can cram pallets of crap in them to make even smaller isles. Let's place the organic foods in the middle and break up the entire grocery area so you have to walk all the way across the store for a can of soup. The list goes on, but I can hang out and drink a beer! Novel idea but maybe not the best use of an already congested store. Can't wait for winco I go open and move over Fred Meyer. Maybe if they would have actually invested in the area and put a second story in like the store on Lombard. Even the Johnson creek store got a better remodel. read more

Checkers are really nice. But, I'm tired of half of the items prices not being marked and statements/coupons stating things like "All frames, buy 1 get 50% off the second" and then you get to the front and they start saying, well these frames don't count. Well, why say all when you mean all but ones where the sku starts with the letter E. How are you supposed to know that? On top of that, their app constantly makes my phone crash and most of the time you can't get on their internet site to get the 'special buys.' And, nobody knows how to get gas points and who knows when you get coupons in the mail. Everything is arbitrary. read more

I do not want to even give you one star !! I am so tired of saying this but I'm saying it here because it was never listen to in the store !!! . they just blow you off!! Since the remodel you can't find anything!!! . it's bad when you have to go from one end of the store to the other four damn times.... and on the fourth time I stop and asked the two people who are working there with the red vest on ... they are managers .... they of course told me where it was.... I went all the way back there and believe me it was at the back of the store .... another long walk and of course it was the wrong isle !
