I'd recommend not going to this fueling station. I pulled into the self service row at their gas station today and was immediately asked by the gas attendant named Steve (older man of ~70 years old) if I needed assistance. I replied nicely no that I could manage. Steve proceeded to come over to my pump and watch me operate the pump, but commented that the Oregon law passed for self service was the "stupidest law" ever. I replied "oh really, why is that?" Steve proceeded to talk my ear off that it takes away hours from "workers" like him. At this point, I told Steve again that I was fine pumping my own gas. Steve then proceeded to walk down to the next vehicle that pulled into the self-service line and chat that guy up about using the self-service lane. I'm sorry Steve, but you should be written up and reprimanded for the following from your employer: 1) Talking politics during work hours (I'm just there to buy gas, not get harassed about my choice to use the self-service lane, since I know how to pump gas); 2) You continued to bug a customer who was just fine pumping their own gas, and you were told twice by that customer that they didn't need assistance. Please do not harass customers for choosing to pump their own gas. read more

Like any Safeway, it's overpriced and and under-employed. The lines are always sooooo long. It never seems worth it to do a full shopping trip here, like honestly, how does anyone shop here consistently? I don't know how the quality differs so strongly from any other grocery store to make up for the horrendously long lines and over priced foods. Go to winco, where the lines are shorter, there's more space in the aisles, and everything is SIGNIFICANTLY less expensive. With that said, I will go here for random things that I forgot at my usual grocery store because this one is much closer to my house. But I think that also says so much, that I'm happy to go out of my way to other grocery stores just to avoid the long lines (seriously, how many people work there?), narrow aisles, and save more than a few bucks. read more

I rarely shop at Safeway and it's because of prices. They aren't the best but sometimes I can get a good coupon or two. For a while I refused to come to this location because of the customer service rep named Karen. She had publicly humiliated me over a mobile coupon when I was not in the wrong. She had told me she was going to trespass me from the store and call the police for fraudulent coupons for cigarettes. What it was is the way their systems work! The correct way to ring them up is to 1. Scan cigarettes 2. Bypass age/ or enter id 3.customer inputs loyalty phone number 4.cashier scans mobile coupon I understand their policy is "no mobile coupons" but what the store manager had discovered with the cigarette company, there is a fine grey area of partnership to where it is acceptable Well she went with it from the start that they don't accept them. I tried to explain numerous times that the store director had figured it out as well and that they were accepted because the partnership to it. Then she turned it into "I'll do it only if it scans". She refused to let me enter my rewards card because "tobacco does not qualify for rewards" which then the system of course denied the coupon because the rewards card must be present as well in the transaction. After a while, the only reason I now will come to Safeway is if FELICIA is working. She is the only cashier that I will engage myself with in that store and refuse to shop if she is not presently working. I hope you never lose this amazing asset to your company, she is a very hard worker and is the best to her customers. read more

The Safeway gas station recently changed their policy on cash sales: Customers can no longer pay the attendant, but must get out of their car, and go into the building to pay. The reason given to me was "some of the cash wasn't making it into the till." So let me get this straight: They have an employee theft problem, and their response is that instead of investigating, and identifying which employees are thieves, they want me to do their work, and take the money into the store??? They've got thieves working for them, but they want me to leave my car with those thieves while I do part of the attendant's job? They need to get their act together. They've got cameras. They've got computers. If they cared, they could figure out which attendants are the thieves, and get rid of them not just for the store's sake, but for the customer's sake, too. Don't pay cash? Pay credit or debit? You mean hand my credit or debit card to an employee that you don't trust to handle money? I don't think so! BTW... When they started this new policy, I used their website to provide feedback. I got the auto-response that my feedback was received, and that someone would address it, but after 5 days, they still haven't e-mailed me back. I've got other choices. I'm going to choose to buy gas where the employees are trusted enough by their employer to actually be allowed to handle the cash. read more

Getting super pissed off with this store. First, I started noticing that I was buying creamer that was EXPIRED yet still on the shelves. Second, I purchased sliced cheese only to get home and find that it was full of mold!! THEN I just noticed the the breakfast bars I just purchased expired on October 29th of this year and it's November 14th! I'm getting really upset that I'm spending hundreds of dollars on food here every week only to find out that it's expired after eating it or opening it! This is not okay and this is not going to be the last Safeway hears from me. Safeway is my favorite place to shop. I have went to the Safeway in Oregon city, and the people at the deli counter always seem perturbed. I'm here to spend money. Also, a few times I've went on lunch, long lines and they will call 3 is a crowd. Numerous times it takes 10+ minutes for people to come. The prices here are great, had a deal recently where you can get a dozen eggs for 29 cents and other great savings. That being said, everything not related to prices is just terrible. The self checkout kiosks are awful compared to the ones at Fred Meyer and you can't search by entering an items name, only by scrolling through pages of items which really slows down the process. The kiosk I was at constantly complained about unexpected item in bagging area and then when I removed the item it would complain and tell me to put it back. The attendant was also called over 4 times to approve my not bagging an item. It's just absurd. Also saw a guy giving wine samplings chugging a bottle of beer on the clock so that was great as well. I really don't know what happened to Safeway. It and Albertsons used to be the only place we shopped at but both times I've gone in recent history have solidified the fact that I'm never going to shop at either of these places again. read more

I am SO IMPRESSED with this Safeway Deli! Our 12-yr old granddaughter wanted sushi at her birthday party with around 30 attendees. I checked with the deli and they insisted on the sushi being made fresh day of the party! I ordered 3 large tray's (70 pcs ea) for $62.99 each tray. It was prepared ON TIME and looked amazing! And the taste! Omg! Some of the best sushi any of us had ever had! It was a HUGE hit! The employees who make the sushi are very proud of their work, as they should be! And the yummy sauce they throw in is to die for! We will DEFINITELY be ordering these sushi party trays again and again! read more

My wife and I were pretty excited to see the new Safeway open, and very happy to get another grocery alternative. This is a very nice store - very attractive, nice layout, lots of friendly & helpful staff. It was just wonderful until we looked at the prices. Yikes!!! You would think that a new store would have lots of great deals during a grand opening, but every item I checked was more expensive than the nearest competitor. Example: A loaf of bread for $1.49 is $1.19 down the street. This percentage seems to hold across the board. Worse, they had all these cards posted that showed how much cheaper their products were compared to the other Oregon City stores. The only problem is that to me they looked like they all made up - I shop these stores and I know the prices. My husband and I were thrilled to have Safeway come to our town! Thrilled! Last night while shopping there, we were so disappointed and disgusted that we put everything back and left to shop at Fred Meyer. We said we're now done with Safeway. The prices were higher on 18 of the 20 items we had put in our cart.. And I wanted to shop there to get the buy $75 and get a $10 discount next time coupon.. yea, I'd be spending $20 extra for a lame coupon.. uh - no I'm not that dumb. We also buy a lot of various produce items. Unbelievably the onions were ROTTING IN THE STORE. The vine tomatoes... also had white mold on them. Why in the world would we buy ROTTING food??? Come on people. Can you believe we were still willing to shop there? Our last straw for us last night when we're realizing everything was seriously over priced and nicely putting food back - so we could leave. I needed to wait for an employee to move out of the way so I could pass by, cart was on one side, employee working on the other... no big deal to wait for a moment. Employee moves aside and sarcastically (sound that way to me) says "excuse me.." I look up - it was the manager! You are not the only grocery store in town. While the store is nice and new, the pharmacy is behind the times and lame. Most doctors offices these days send prescriptions electronically. You know, via that thing called the Internet! But this brand new pharmacy can't receive them. They have to go to some central fax transfer place, where they get converted to faxes. This takes about 30mins, and it will be another 30+ mins for them to fill your prescription. The good news is this gives you plenty of time to sit down and write a yelp review. read more

This store is a joke. They are over priced on everything and the employees (pharmacy and gas) are rude and could careless about there pointless jobs. The pharmacy is the worst they won't even turn over my medication the day they told me it would be ready..... Then they refuse to help or do there job and when I get the phone number they told me to get they told me they can take a number from me.... What!?!?! That's what you told me to get you.... I sent my daughter in for a bucket of chicken and after eating 10 mins with 4 other customers she asked the three employees that were standing in the back laughing and doing nothing if they could help and they got very chippy attitudes. After 20 mins she got the chicken and when we got home and I opened the bucket and it was so old and dry we dare not eat it for fear of becoming sick. I have bagged the chicken and will be taking it to food service authority's tomorrow. Beware if Safeway will employee people like that and serve food that disgusting god only knows what else may be happening in that kitchen. read more

I love shopping at safeway! Ever since they opened safeway is my choice of store to shop, they have the best selection on meat dairy and especially produce. I buy a lot of organic foods that Fred meyer does not have at a great price and the people there are very helpful and caring. I wouldn't shop anywhere else especially it being so close to home.
