This place is TERRIBLE! Go Anywhere else! The staff gave me incorrect information about HIPPA and refused to communicate clearly about my daughters care. They also tried to bully me into paying my ex's portion of the financial agreement, even though he is the one who signed it. The entire experience was mishandled from start to finish. DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS ORTHODONTIST!! I went in for a consultation, and everything seemed fine at first. I even got my braces on the same day as the consultation. Dr. Almy was nice and seemed knowledgeable, but honestly, that's the only positive thing about this place. The staff? Completely unprofessional. I'm beyond furious with how they treated me. The first appointment went fine, but after that, I got stuck with some awful staff members. First off, if something touches the ground, it doesn't go in my mouth! One of the blonde-haired ladies literally dropped a container of rubber bands on the floor and then laughed, saying, "Oops, 5-second rule, right?" Like, are you serious? That's not funny--it's gross. And then there's the blonde lady who was always in a terrible mood. She broke multiple brackets on my braces. I remember her manhandling my teeth with pliers, literally forcing my head to stay in a position by pushing down on my head with her full body weight. She broke two of my brackets, got mad about it, and then when she fixed them, she did it wrong. When Dr. Almy noticed, she had the audacity to argue with her, telling me, "I think they'd be fine, but I guess I'll fix them." Are you kidding me? How hard is it to do your job?! And don't even get me started on the actual damage they've caused. When I first started, I didn't have white spots on my teeth or extreme sensitivity. But now? I've been stuck with these damn white spots on my teeth, and no matter what I do, they're not going away. I've spent over $2,500 trying to fix it, and I'm still left with a mess. When I raised this issue, they had the nerve to say, "Oh, some people just get white spots from the glue." Well, why wasn't that disclosed to me before you slapped that glue all over my teeth?! And as for my teeth sensitivity--forget it. They put something on my teeth that caused a burning sensation, and when I complained, I was told that my parents had elected the treatment and that I just had to deal with it. I even got yelled at when I tried to spit it out. Are you seriously telling me I can't stop a painful treatment when it's my mouth?! In hindsight, I should've just left. I'm still dealing with teeth sensitivity and have to use prescription toothpaste just to be able to brush my teeth. And don't even think about eating something hard, like a carrot--my teeth feel like they're going to fall out. They never told me that after braces, it could take years for my teeth to tighten up again. What kind of place does that?! Lastly, when they took my braces off, they gave me a retainer that didn't fit. It hurt to put on, and it was so tight I needed both hands to get it off. My front teeth bled, and they were so loose I thought they were going to fall out. I called to complain, and they just brushed it off, saying my teeth were shifting because I hadn't had my braces on for a few days. I told them Dr. Almy made the decision to wait before giving me a retainer, but they just acted like it was my fault. Like, how would I know what's best for my teeth? They told me to wear the retainer and suck it up, or if I wanted a new one, I'd have to pay for another scan. When I talked to my regular dentist, they said not to wear the retainer because it could mess up my teeth even more. My experience here was a total nightmare. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here. Honestly, Virginia should revoke their license to provide dental care because this place is a disaster. How they're even Invisalign certified is beyond me! read more

My granddaughter had her braces taken off today. What a beautiful smile she has now. All of the staff is very friendly and the assistants are great! Best orthodontic office in the area. I can say nothing but good things about this practice. Dr. Almy has a very calm demeanor that puts you at ease during visits and her team is so friendly. Orthodontic treatment can be nerve-wracking, much like any medical treatment, but I have such pleasant visits with this team! I recently returned to have a retainer remade - they were so kind when I came back and so many remembered me from so long ago. The assistants in the back are very knowledgeable and always helping each other out making my girls feel special when in the chair. I hope people read this before committing to Dr Almy. Bottom line is my son was miss diagnosed as a stage one case when he was really a stage three with an under bite. What does this mean? As a 10 year old, his jaw will continue to grow until he is 20 and braces won't help his situation. Dr Almy recommended braces/brackets (which we did relying on her opinion) for over a year. Then we were going to roll into "stage two" for more time with a retainer and such. Well, all this was going to do was pull the front teeth out to meet the bottom teeth basically adding more space between the top teeth. There isn't a fix to my son's ortho issue unless he chooses to have jaw surgery to permanently fix the issue. I feel taken for paying for unnecessary braces and bad for my son for having to wear them for no reason. Thank goodness we transferred and received a good second opinion or who knows where this care would have ended up. read more

I just had my last appointment with Dr. Almy and her staff yesterday, spending 3+ years with them. (Including 1 year of follow-up after braces removal.) The cost was more than reasonable, the front-end staff super-friendly. Dr. Almy's specialists are great, too! Dr. Almy is not only a fabulous Orthodontist, but she runs a phenomenal business. PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU GO THERE. If I could give this place less than zero stars I honestly would. I've had Invisalign for more than three years now and my teeth are more messed up now than when I came in. She honestly doesn't know what she's doing and has no idea what to do for my teeth. She tryed to tell me I was done and that my teeth were straight two times now and BOTH times I couldn't close my mouth because my teeth didn't line up AND my teeth weren't anywhere close to being straight. When I said something to her about it she said "I'm just trying to work with what God gave you".......... and "you just think they're not lined up because your nose is crooked"....... that's word for word what she told me......... You'd think since the word Invisalign is in the name of HER company she'd know how to properly use it but no. The only thing that's nice about it is the awesome staff she has. They're friendly, wonderful people. read more
