The door has a sign that says "walk-ins welcome" so I walked in and saw five barbers working. I said hello in a friendly way and received five grumpy scowls in return. They seemed annoyed that a customer was interrupting their conversation. I will never spend a dollar in any business that can't greet customers with a smile and hello. My husband has been looking for a good barber near us for a year. We found one who had good ratings and we needed an appointment to get the owner, who did a good job. But two appointments later he was getting a new barber who needed supervision and my husband's hair suffered the consequences. If you make an appointment with a specific person you should get the person you requested.... So many weeks later we attempted to get my dear husband's hair cut. We decided on a Friday to search till we found one able to take him on the spot. No small feat but he was getting scruffy. We live in Meridian and wanted one close to us. On Meridian road we found two. One near Cherry so we stopped. Barber was short a person and couldn't get Phil in till next week. So we found this establishment and decided to give them a shot. What a nice surprise, Cam was able to take him immediately and he came out looking fabulous! Cam learned the trade from his father who learned from his father. It shows. Phil's neck was shaved, ears and brows trimmed up. Thanks to Cam Phil is handsome as ever. He will be back as long as when we make an appointment, Cam indeed cuts his hair!! read more

Not much to say other than I got my hair cut the way I asked for it, and it was done exactly how I wanted it. Cost was $20 without tip. Unfortunately, I did have to wait an extended period of time for my name to be called on the list, but it was my decision to wait it out. Sick and tired of constantly needing an appointment for a haircut? I was so I decided to skip the salon and try a barber. Heard great things about this location so decided to give it a whirl. Located in Meridian downtown this small barber offers a classic feel with a classic touch. I was immediately sat and started chatting with the several barbers as they asked what I wanted. Didn't take long you explain my go-to-do and the guy was off! The haircut was clean and looked sharp. The neckline was perfect and the straight razor shave felt great. I had incredible service here. The haircut was fantastic too. It's nice to get back to an old school barbershop. The barbers use an honor system set up for who is next up in line; they don't force everyone to sign a paper on the way in to keep track of who's next. Because of this, they don't always know who's next up and have to get the customers' honesty in it, which to me isn't a problem. One of the previous reviews tried to make this into a race thing when they were almost skipped. I can assure you that race had nothing to do with it. While I was there, around 10 others came in and out so it's easy to see how it could get mixed up. It seems to be a pretty busy establishment, deservedly so, so expect a bit of a wait. But who cares, I would rather wait for a good haircut than get immediate service for a crap cut. read more

I used to go to a couple of barber shops when I was a kid. Unfortunately one passed away and the other retired around the time I went to college and I haven't been to a barber shop since then. I have been going to the same lady at Great Clips for several years now because my wife really liked her, heck I like her too, but when she left I just got the urge to find a barber shop. There just really isn't anything quite like it. So I turned to YELP to locate the nearest barber shops and check out the reviews. There weren't many here but they were good and I was intrigued that one of them mentioned they had three barbers. I've never been to one that had more than one. I saw that this page showed they were open on Monday, which I thought was strange because honestly most barbers take Sunday and Monday off. But I went down on Monday and... They were closed. So I waited and came in on Wed. When I came in the back the first thing I noticed was they have a pool table. The second thing I noticed was they have four barbers not three. They were friendly, efficient, and their seats were full the entire time my son and I were there. Mind you this was around noon on a Wednesday, I was surprised at how busy they were, a good sign if you ask me! My son who is 3 sat with the youngest barber in the shop who was very patient and did an excellent job, probably the best cut he's ever had. It was a great experience with great people who clearly love what they do. I will be back and will recommend them to everybody! read more

Oh Boy. Where am I going to start with this one. Like other reviews on here, I can agree that Fred's Reel Barber Shop does provide high quality haircuts for a pretty affordable price. However the Customer Service provided was absolutely horrendous. Why is this? Other people have said that their Customer Service was AMAZING. That may be true for them, but as a Male Asian walking into this establishment. I was not granted such a luxury. I walked in and then somehow the conversation eventually led to a talk about WW2 Veterans, and then to casualty counts. Somehow from that it trailed onto a talk on the Japanese Nuking of Hiroshima, and someone said that if they compared the casualty counts of everything else they have done then bombing 100,000 people was "Ok". WHAT!?!?!?!? After that I tuned everything out waiting for our turn to go up to one of the 3 available barbers at the time. It was a pretty busy day since we had about 5 people in front of us, but when it was finally our turn. He pointed at what we could assume was a regular of the establishment who had clearly had been sitting there for only 10-20 minutes while I had been sitting there for an 1 hour. The guy that got picked to go up when it was clearly my turn even pointed at us saying that we had already been there when he had already arrived.The barber then made a weak excuse of how he "thought" he was behind someone else when they clearly weren't. I had enough of it at that point and continued to leave. All in all, Great Haircuts if you can get one. If you aren't White, expect to be served last since "friends" and Regulars will probably take your spot instead of you! read more
