They charge a hefty premium for their service but they did not meet any promised timeline and only processed my order after 2 follow up phone calls. They NEVER initiated a call to me when 1) they needed my vehicle mileage or 2) my title was finally back, almost 2 weeks later than promised. Had to drop off the plate for a car I no longer own. However, the office was closed due to recent virus closures, modifications to offices needed, etc. There was a sign posted listing an office that was in fact open. While I began dialing that office, Brian (? - the owner) arrived to go inside, and insisted on taking my plate at no charge, and getting the receipt for turning it in immediately and texting it to me. While he was taking the extra time to do this, 2 other gentlemen arrived whom he helped as well, AND received the call that he had just become a grandfather!!! No frills, fast, informative, in-and-out service; everything the MVA should be but isn't. The first time I stopped in to transfer a title, the gentleman behind the counter informed me I needed a lien release and provided me with the contact information of the former lien holder. Came back a week later with the lien release in hand. Same gentleman quickly entered the information needed by the MVA, ran my card for the taxes and their fee, handed me my tags and registration, and sent me on my way. All said and done, what would have been a day trip to the MVA took about 7-8 minutes. Will definitely use them again in the future. read more

Moved out of state and had to return my plates. MVA website lists this vendor as accepting them. They do not disclose there is an associated fee. I assumed there would just be a drop box outside. I called ahead to confirm they were open. They informed me of a $5 fee. Annoying, but OK. I arrive and there is a line of people. I could have dropped this in the mail had I known it would be this much hassle! I hand over my card. They hand me a receipt for $6. "You said $5 on the phone." "That's for cash." You didn't say that on the phone! At this point I just want to get out of there so I sign and leave. Merchants that charge for card are pathetic. The 5 cents in processing fees that they save are less than the extra time and work that processing cash requires. That's why successful businesses encourage the use of cards! As a fellow small business owner, I appreciate the savings and convenience that I'm afforded by customers with cards. We're becoming a cashless society. Get with it or go out of business. read more

Not helpful at all. Moving from NJ to Maryland. At Fred's, agent informed us we needed a Soundex number and we had to go to MVA to apply for one because Fred's could not provide that service. We left and immediately called a competitor. We arrived at their competitor's office and they applied for a Soundex number on our behalf - no trip to the MVA. We aren't sure if the agent at Fred's didn't know what she was talking about or didn't want to do any work. There are better choices than Fred's. read more

She's been very patient, informative, and offered suggestions, and assistance above and beyond what was expected. I went in to transfer my tags and title today from PA to MD and had major issues with the state inspection company I'd used. They had transposed my VIN number and absolutely refused to correct it. I am a car guy and currently have 5 vehicles, including several Italian exotics. I have almost always registered my cars through Fred's on York Rd. in Cockeysville. They are friendly, helpful, and efficient. Their charge is more than reasonable, when I compare a 15 minute transaction with Fred's to waiting for hours at MVA. Two years ago I made the mistake of going to another Instant Tag and Title place because it was nearer my home. Only recently did I realize that after two years I never received my Maryland title! It seems that this company took my nearly $4,000 in sales tax and "mistakenly" did not forward the money or the old title to motor vehicle. After a lot of stress, arguing, and discussions with the investigative division at MVA, the situation should be straightened out. In the meantime, I have gone to Fred's several times, where they gave me advice, explained my options, and even gave me the direct telephone number of the MVA investigative branch. They really tried to help me resolve the problem, and have generally been very helpful, at no charge whatsoever. They are a class act! read more

I will never go to Fred's Tag and Title again. The woman I mostly dealt with, Terry, was less than helpful and could have saved me a lot of time but instead scammed me to get some business out of me. I was transferring my tags from out of state, and long story short, there was nothing Fred's could have done for me except make me pay $1600 simply to transfer my tags- this was not explained to me during our first interaction, when it should have been brought up. I went to the MVA and ended up paying the normal price of around $300. Fred's also charged me a fee for requesting my title from my finance company. I will never go here again- the wait was far worse than going to the MVA due to this mishap. Months without my car due to them wanting to make a quick buck. read more

A few weeks later they called me from an unknown number to ask how everything went then tried to solicit me to change insurance... that's uncalled for in my opinion. I've been there on more then one occasion and every time I'm waited on by the most rude women, she makes everything as difficult as possible. the most recent visit she turned me away stating I didn't have the necessary paper work, I went up the street to Normans tag and title with the same paper work and was finished in 15 minutes .I'm not sure if they're trying to make money by telling people they need to buy something they don't or they're just stupid, not the first time either ( same women ) huge waste of time ! read more

We purchased a utility trailer at Lowes last minute and had to obtain tags and title before we could take it home. Fred's was 5 minutes away and we had our rags and title in no time at all. MVA was closed so super convenient. Employees were very nice. Fees were reasonable. read more

One woman seemed to almost take delight in not being able to help me. She also really couldn't articulate what it was that I needed to do. Fantastic service! I just moved here from California, and we didn't have "tag and title" places, so I was a little hesitant. I went in about 4pm on a Monday, and was the only customer in line. I will never use Fred's Tag & Title again. First of all Bobbi was not the most polite. She told me that I needed a buyers order and had to pay taxes on the buyers fee because it came from an auction. So going through Fred's I paid more money in taxes plus a $20.00 electronic registration fee that I wasn't informed about until afterwards. I called MVA twice and asked them about it and they said I should only pay taxes on the price of the vehicle. I called Bobbi and told her what MVA said and she said that they were wrong. Then asked for a name of who I spoke with and said she'd call me back with a supervisor on the line to prove that she was right, which never happened. I took two other vehicles to MVA three days later and was told that I did need a buyers order but, I wasn't suppose to pay taxes on the buyers fee. On top of that I received my titles from MVA back in 7 days and still waiting for the title from Fred's. I don't recommend Fred's to anyone. A bad attitude and paying unnecessary fees equals an unsatisfied customer. read more
