When I walked in, I was kindly greeted and then left to my own to look around. I liked a lot of what they had but was looking for something in particular. When I found something I was interested in, I asked one of the employees about other sizes in a skirt. They immediately helped me and welcomed me to go try it on in one of the fitting rooms. So surprised there was no Free People Indy review on Yelp. For those that are interested in history of a company, read on the next few paragraphs, for those not -- skip over. Okay, so random factoid? Even though it is urban corporation, Free People was actually the original. The first Urban Outfitters was actually called free people. It wasn't until much later that Free People as it is today became a reality, despite the name being around within that company for ages. Free People sells bohemian clothing. Clothing for free spirits who are carefree. Free people sells a lifestyle which is how they get away with their prices. Their prices are wide ranging. T-shirts with unique details are typically $58-$68. Dresses are from $78- thousands. In the past, I would argue Free people was more expensive than anthropologie. However, over the past four years (or so) Anthropologie's price points have increased and free people's have remained static. This makes Free People of equivalent price (taking away outliers) or even slightly cheaper. Hard to find a dress at Anthropologie under $128 these days. I mention Anthropologie as they are sister brands with more similar aesthetics (especially the past year) than Free People and urban. This store in particular got me quite excited as it is the first Free People store that I have ever been in as St. Louis does not have one (not even Free People in their Nordstroms while I lived there). The decor in this store (displays) are very earthy and well thought out. It makes you feel alive. It doesn't feel like most mall stores. The staff dresses inspirationally and are super kind and invested. I follow the freepeopleindianapolis Instagram account. Which gets updated all the time. It's nice to be able to see not only what is in store, but how the people who live and breathe Free People style it. I may not pop in to often, but maybe I should. My experience yesterday at Free People was very disappointing.. I love the brand but I won't be returning to this location. I walked in and there were two employees at the counter talking to two customers. No one greeted me. I walked around and waited. I wanted to inquire about their posted sales. They were discussing juicing and diets. No longer were they helping them as customers but having a social conversation. I walked around and looked at everything from the front of the store to the sales in the back. The other two ladies left. Still no acknowledgement. I figured out one girl must of been a manager as I could over hear her discussing an upcoming training session, ironically. I literally went to the counter to look at sunglasses and she looked up from her phone and still NO acknowledgement. Another woman walked in and she looked right passed me and greeted her. I walked out into the hall and called the store to ask the lady her name. (She may recall I asked them if they sold shoes ONLY to grab her name- Lindsey) Perhaps someone can make sure the two ladies working Monday night on July 9th just after 8:00 pm get some diversity training at the upcoming training seminar.
