A nice sandy beach, a couple minutes walk to the provincial park, 10 minute drive to the local store for groceries. Every night we'd sit outside and watch the sun set. Fantastic! The house has been done up very nicely for a guesthouse. Gorgeous hardwood floors and counter tops. Beachwood has been incorporated into the design. Nice, comfy furniture. It's a very cool island getaway. We only briefly saw our hosts when they came over to pick up a cheque and drop off an extra set of keys for us. They live on the other side of the island so we had the whole place to ourself!! All in all, one of the better places i've stayed on Denman Island (and in the Comox Valley). I could tell the owner of the home actually cared about it and her neighbours because she asked questions about the guests that would be staying to make sure we weren't a bunch of teenagers looking to throw a rager. She also asked questions about our dogs and we were so lucky she agreed to let them stay for a small extra cleaning fee which is 100% reasonable and understandable. Upon arriving, the garage was upstairs and Kristine was super welcoming and warm when she greeted us and showed us around. She also went above and beyond by having a few treats waiting for us and staying for an extra bit of time to answer so many of our questions as we'd never been to the island before. Super helpful and even if she was in a rush to get to her family for Thanksgiving, she didn't rush us or make it seem like she was eager to get away. We couldn't believe the view when we got to the main floor. Seriously, it was beautiful even with the rainy weather we got. The kitchen also had enough in it to make it functional - pots, pans, plates, bowls, cutlery, salt, pepper, etc. Very thoughtful for guests so you don't have to buy cheap, crappy sets for one time use. Over all, it was an amazing stay. We got to meet Karin on our way out and she was just as pleasant as Kristine. Such a nice, friendly crew for a beautiful home. There wasn't a thing we could ask for improvements on during our stay. Thank you Karin and Kristine!

Once on land, we then drive north along the eastern coast into Qualicum Beach and our destination lodging, "At Nautica Tigh Bed and Breakfast". Nestled within a wooded area is a converted private residence offering three individual rooms; ours is the upper deck area complete with fireplace, an open plan area with queen bed, comfy quilted bed spread, downy pillows, a pull-out double sleeper, cozy sofa and TV area, country style eat-in table and chairs, kitchen area with fridge, micro-wave, toaster oven, and ALL the kitchen supplies you will ever need! Our fridge and counter top had already been stocked with tomorrow's breakfast to avoid disturbing us in the AM; fresh fruit, juice, coffee, tea, bagels, bread, spreads, hot and cold cereals, granola. A full bathroom offers a large shower stall and vanity with lots of room. Overall, our setting is similar to that of a cabin in the country with all the conveniences of home. Parking for our SUV was found in front of the steps leading up to our upper deck room and could not have been more convenient. As we get settled in, the sun can be seen setting on the horizon through the woods adjacent to our cottage; the Strait of Georgia can be seen clearly beyond the shore line. This is truly a beautiful yet rugged forested area just waiting to be explored! We soon meet Karen, our host and Owner. Karen greets us warmly and makes certain that all of our requests, if any, are accommodated. Our initial impressions of the home, both inside and out, were impressive. It is immaculately clean and tidy, and the hosts' attention to detail is evident everywhere. Live plants, antique furniture, and original art immediately made an impression on us upon entering the welcoming and spacious foyer. A short flight of stairs took us up to the guests' common area. A small kitchen area with a coffee machine, microwave, mini fridge, and sink are available for guests to use at any time in an area that includes a sofa, fireplace, and dining table. Morning coffee or tea is served here by the gracious hosts, and a delicious breakfast complete with homemade preserves is included! Adjoining the common area are the two large suites. Our room, the Sunrise, was especially comfortable with an antique table and chairs, tasteful art, quality linens, and a large private balcony. A flat screen television and guest wifi are also included. The spotless ensuite bathroom, complete with a soaker tub and walk-in shower, was an added bonus, as was the mini-fridge with complimentary soda water. After settling into the king-sized bed for the night, we had, without a doubt, one of the most comfortable and restful sleeps we've ever experienced away from home! And Cornerstones' location is fantastic! The quaint town centre with its numerous restaurants, shops, and theatre, is only a few minutes' walk away, and the famous beachfront is a ten to fifteen minute walk. We'd return to Cornerstones without any hesitation. Highly recommended!
