With that being said, I cannot express how much of a relief it has been since I began receiving optical care from Dr. Porter. Upon my first visit, several years ago, I explained that I have significant optical genetic risks within my family and that I really wanted to be able to keep a close watch on the health of my eyes. Dr. Porter was fully knowledgeable, reassuring, patient, and took the time to explain everything in depth; she even took photographs of my retinas to ensure we could keep track of them in case I ever sensed any changes or problems arise in the future of my vision. Not only is Dr. Porter phenomenal, but the rest of her staff is filled with many warm and welcoming personalities that are always kind and helpful. Every exam they tell us about manufacturer rebates on contacts and price out using personal insurance versus their financial company. Theirs is always less than insurance. This will be our third year and are very happy with them. They fix any and all glasses that you take in for repair whether you purchases them there or not. Also they keep me on track for my additional exam I need for a medication I take. This has to be scheduled with a specialist that comes to the Mooresville Office to perform the exam. We are pleased with Dr Tavel for our eye health.

I also like that it is a small office and not a huge "clinic" with multiple doctors and a lot of staff which means too much overhead to me. I get two kinds of eye exams and sometimes I don't get both at the same time because the insurance copays are different. One is a medical type for diabetes and the other is just for your eyeglasses prescription. Today was just to check my eyeglasses prescription. The exam went quick. There was no waiting for the doctor to finish up with other patients. I liked the personal service touch here better than the larger clinics.
