This is a true case of Instagram Vs reality. No words are needed. I'm sorry this is the worst thing I have EVER seen lmao I can't stop laughing

Brucifer and I made a special trip out to Threeman's, our pet name for the third incarnation of Freeman's restaurants. It's the furthest Freeman's to us, and we'd been pumped to go for a while. As were crossing the street, a patron of Freeman's held the door for us. Such a friendly welcome to Fairview! Inside, Threeman's showed lots of similar decor themes to the other Freemans' and was roomy and tidy. The only other patrons were a couple that was full-on making out for minutes at a time almost the entire time we were there. It was equal parts adorable and sleazy-- just the way I like it. The food was good-- I opted for the Grilled Vegetable Salad which is an awesome-sized portion of vegetables- I estimate three servings of cooked vegetables and one and a half servings of raw salad. I've had it before and it was equally good Quinpool's. Brucifer's been sharvin' for a burger for a while now, and finding a deluxe burger to get his craving out of his system was the main focus our trip. He ordered the Fiery Smokehouse Cheddar Burger and enjoyed it immensely, as usual. Oh, and we ordered an assload of fries as an appetizer, which, oddly, isn't on the menu at any of the locations. I kind of wish that each of the Freeman's locations had exclusive menu items that could entice customers to check out each location. I do feel that all three Freeman's locations should have more in the way of vegetarian options. Not sure why they don't have a deluxe veggie burger on their menu. That would be solid. But alas... Apparently Threeman's is planning more renovations including an outdoor patio as well as possible live music as the weather warms. This, and the thought of double-it-up drink specials could probably lure me out of my neighbourhood on a summer's eve.

Our first time here. I would not have chosen it myself, judging from the outside, and given we had 3 young children with us. There were some "characters" in the restaurant to say the least. The waitress was sweet though, she brought my 3 yr old his own glass of water. For similar food choices and for a more family-friendly atmosphere I would've recommended Montana or Red Robin(Is there one in NS?) instead. However, I liked my "time sqaure" pizza. It's basically Hawaiian plus bacon. Standard taste one would expect. I've heard good things about Freeman's pizza. It's not the "artisan" handcrafted type of pizza, but it filled me right up. My husband had the blue cheese burger, and he really enjoyed it. No lemonade or bottomless pop refills was a bummer for me.

Alright, here we go! I was placed at a table (not setup), no napkins, no cutlery. A waitress showed up on my right hand side and asked me what I'd like. As I looked up at her in an attempt to answer, she cut me off and told me I didn't have a menu and brought one to me. I placed my order. It arrived wrong (I asked for an ingredient to be removed) she came back and said "well I asked them in the back to remove it but I guess they didn't, here you go", and proceeded to put the plate in front of me. So I asked politely, I cannot have this item and would like it removed. She asked me "would you like me to take this back then?". Like come on!!!!!!!!! Where are we???!!! If you don't like your job, then simply go home!! Secondly, I paid extra money to switch my fries to a poutine. I was brought 27 sticks of fries with some gravy and cheese on top. While my company opted to keep their fries, they received a huge basket!! In other words, I paid extra to have my fries reduced to nothing!!! My bottom line is, Freeman's is mediocre at best. Regretfully, tonight will be my last night here. Update: (morning after); myself and my company experienced stomachache all night last night! Never again!!!

This sour cream is almost frozen and they charge you for any more than one. Use it sparingly friend!

This place is what replaced a super dive bar on Dutch village road called "Dutchies". I have to say that all the money they poured into this place only made it a dump of another sort. I used to go to dutchies. It was what it was, a dive where you could drink with just about anyone depending on the weather or the time of day. Freeman's took over and I've been here exactly four times since. See they have a location that works for me to grab food or beer once in a while but it just sucks. Tonight I came in after moving. The waiter was nice enough until I asked for more than one crappy single serve sour cream so that my friend and I don't have to fucking share one. The waiter says here's another one bit any more are a buck and a half each... what the hell! I'm spending a hundred dollars on beers and food and your gonna charge me for a condiment for the meal you served me? What a joke. Hey Freeman's... here's a little piece of advice, cuz I don't know what kind of assholes you normally serve, but please train your servers to spot a non-cheap bastard when they walk through the door. Maybe give them a larger sour cream quota so they don't have to conserve so much on a Friday night, or some salsa or really WHATEVER THE HELL YOUR CUSTOMERS WANT FOR A CONDIMENT WITH THEIR MEAL. And one more thing, NOBODY wants to hear someone do their own interpretation of free falling by Tom Petty, or listen to the same cat not know the words AT ALL to Comfortably Numb. It's cringeworthy. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually want Dutchies back... and it was a mega shithole! The food also tasted like it was all scraped from the bottom of the same deep fryer, and I watched a server laugh at a drunk patron and actually tell him he was drunk, tried to convince him it was Tuesday (its Saturday) then ask this super intoxicated guy "how many beers have you had anyway" I watched the guy, he actually believed him it was Tuesday. Since then he has been served two more beers. Great job guys. On the bright side they have all the Moist Towelettes you can throw a stick at!

I think as a teen, I was slightly intimidated by this music space on the Common, thinking it was a place of loud music and aggressive young rockers. Well, the loud music part is spot on. When I ventured in to see some pals play a few weeks ago, the levels were insane. Even with my earplugs snugly in place, I still found it wildly loud. The place's acoustics aren't very good, so the sound gets all muddled making it hard to distinguish specific instruments. Nevertheless, I had a fun time. It was great to hang out on the periphery, watching younger people dance about and enjoy live music. The location of The Pavilion is great, located smack dab in the North Common, it's easily accessible from all angles of the city. You can indulge in some soda or some snacks when you're there, but this is a booze free zone, plus shows usually happen pretty early in the evening. Even if you're no longer sporting a fake ID, this place is a legitimate destination for all age groups. If it's a show worth catching, you should definitely hit up The Pavilion for some loud music and dancing fun.

I know I'm way too old, but hey, sometimes it's fun to endure the all-ages crowd to see a band you really like. The kids don't really seem to care, and it's not like I'm going on death metal night or whatever. I'm glad a space like the Pavilion exists to give these kids a place to hear live music. Manager Chris Smith seems to keep a pretty good handle on things in terms of rowdiness, and the teenagers are glad to have a place to rock out. Rock out, does that make me sound old? Anyway. It is what it is and it's a necessity in a city this size to have a place for people under 19 to go and enjoy the music scene. Music scene, does that make me sound old?

If ever you catch wind of a show happening at The Sonic Temple, be sure to grab up on tickets ASAP. Its an experience! The space is quite small, housing just under 70 people, so performances are intimate, engaged and high quality. The A-frame ceiling of this 1820s heritage home sets up an epic shelter with hanging candle holders and sky lights to boot. More candles scatter around the walls and ledges, highlighting gorgeous brick walls and its backdrop behind the 'stage'. (More of a large carpet then an actual stage.) Its part of the Sonic Entertainment building on Hollis street and not a venue that is open to the public on the regular. Thats why you've got to keep your ears open! The Temple is built by artists, for artists as a place of solitude to facilitate the recording process. Maritime artists like Joel Plaskett, Matt Mays, Symphony Nova Scotia have all recorded here. (to name a few!) Who knows when the next show will be... ('Post Data' just held a show there March 7 & 8th) but to have this place on your radar is certainly not a bad idea. And if you're a musician looking to master an album, The Sonic Temple is the cream of the crop. An incredible use of space to draw inspiration from both artist and audience...

As a pre-show get together for the Canada Heritage moments at the Carbon Arc (note to self: remember that review too), Meegan and I met some fellow yelpers here for some nosh and wine. We were the first to arrive (around 5ish) and if I can give anyone a little piece of advice about going to check this place out for the first time let it be this - that was the perfect time to be there. There were only a few patrons inside so we were able to get some great service (both fast and super friendly). As it is a music bar and grill they seem to have an extensive list of upcoming events but when we went all was quiet. While the menu can seem a little pricey we happened to go in during happy hour (4-6). Appetizers are 2 for 1, house wine $5 = Happy Tara! There seems to be a lot of talk about the grilled cheese sandwich this place serves up but Meegan and I opted to for the lamb lollipops ($10ish), the torpedo shrimp ($9ish but remember we were there for happy hour) and then shared the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich with Avocado ($11ish). It was plenty of food for the both of us and I really thought everything was very good. The house red was nothing to shake a stick at either (and three glasses later it was even better). I loved the look of the place. Dark wood and plenty of seating without feeling like you're bumping into one another. Located on the corner of Argyle and Prince it's looks to be an awesome place to hang out especially on the patio during the summer. If you go let me know how the grilled cheese sandwich is.

Also, the spinach salad with the pecans, mango, and ginger soy dressing will not disappoint. It is flavourful and filling, and I would bet that it's also gluten free ! Bonus points :D I always ask how the other dishes are when I hear someone has recently gone to The Carleton. I have heard nothing but enthusiastic reviews of the other more carnivorous dishes they offer. The best part at The Carleton is truly the music. Everyone is politely denied the use of their chatterboxes while the performer(s) are doing their thing. This way everyone wins, we are all graced with auditory perfection and love it all the more. Heck, there are even great speakers in the bathrooms so if you have to visit in the middle of a show you won't miss a beat! Genius! I appreciate how particular The Carlton is when they choose their musical performers. It seems clear that anyone who graces that beautiful stage is the cream of the crop. I love buying random tickets for artists I have never heard of before because it always blows my mind and I walk away at the end of the evening with a new favourite! From headlining comics to marathon TV filmings, Rankin Family Christmases to symphonies and ballets, I love to think of the Cohn as a place that doesn't let just anyone up on its stage - although a brief boy-bandy history begs to differ. The building is pretty central on the Dal campus and easily found but parking can sometimes be an issue. Give yourself some extra time and maybe even try parking on the other side of Coburg and strolling down. But once you're there, you'll have no problems. The bar is on the main level, bathrooms are one floor down, and balcony (obviously) is one floor up. There are stairs and ramps everywhere though so you don't get the horrible post-show congestion that you might experience elsewhere. The lobby is nice and spacious, lots of room for event-goers to establish their personal space while waiting for the doors to open (unlike Neptune). It has a 70s feel, but it has nice warm woods and if it were upgraded it would become tinted glass and steel like all the other new developments in this city. Yuck. Seating is roomy enough. Seats are clean, plush and comfortable. Sight lines are pretty darn good. The balconies are fabulous. Sound carries well and isn't distorted.
