I'd like to say I'm a fan. I really enjoyed my burger and fries! The service was okay. We came in, grabbed a big comfy booth and waited. Still waiting. A couple came in, sat at the table beside us and someone came over to get their drink order. We still waited. I was getting pretty annoyed at this point and was about to count to 10 and leave when the waitress came over and grabbed our drinks. The other waiter came over and apologized. He said he thought someone had already taken our order. All was good! My white hot restaurant rage slowly drained from my face. I was happy again. The reason it was just Okay was the super loud bros in the back, screaming about their weekend. I mean they were screaming. I felt like these guys might be regulars the way they were so comfortable here. I mean, I don't even scream in my own house. I'm never that comfortable. A lot of other tables were glaring over at them as well. Hello? Do you live here? Are you that confident that everyone in here wants to hear your conversation? Because I will bet my hard earned money they don't. They couldn't have been drunk, it was only 1pm on Sunday. Maybe they were drunk on VLT gambling. Who knows. All I know is, this place was full of regulars, at the bar, at tables, in the VLT room and I was uncomfortable. The Jenny burger was definitely worth all the uncomfortableness though. I added fries and coleslaw for only $3.50! This has to be one of the best pub burgers in the city. Although I'm raving about it, I honestly will probably never go back due to the high likelihood of screaming. I can't comfortably do anything while people are yelling around me. Sorry Jenny's Place. To be honest, I would have never known this place existed except I know someone who works here. It wasn't even that fact that brought us here, it was B's search for pub food, specifically fried pepperoni. And it was on the menu so we stayed. The atmosphere is a bit of a throw back to the 80's tavern. We were there during the day and it was bright, clean and doesn't smell of stale beer. Nice variety on the menu, pretty standard pub fare and breakfast/brunch items. I like that the price on the menu includes tax, I wish more places did that. Once you realize tax is included, the prices are very reasonable. We ordered the combo plate which had potato skins, fried pepperoni, chicken wings and I think onion rings. Plus we had an order of chicken wings. Everything arrived hot to the table and was fried to perfection. The beer was cold, service friendly. Can't ask for much more than that. Great neighbourhood pub, just wish it was in my neighbourhood. read more

We were experiencing that, "I can't move my head but need grease" type of morning! As we're cruising around Halifax with our oversized sunglasses on ensuring no sun makes contact with our eyes we stumbled upon Jennys. We partially entered because we felt our blood shot eyes would be excused and we were absolutely desperate to soak up the remnants of last night. Surprise! We both ordered Eggs Benedict and it was some kind of delicious. It was cooked to perfection, the hollandaise sauce was homemade, and they continuously filled up my coffee. It was bottomless and on that kind of morning was just what the Dr. ordered. The service was half-assed to be honest, and I felt that she was in the same boat as us so we gave pity instead of grief. The other clientèle were what seemed to be regulars; living the high life on the VLT's or trying to find a cure for the night before. It gets the job done. read more

Jennys happens to be right next to my office so I've been there a couple times lately. It's not much on the inside, and I can't speak of fantastic service, but the place is always clean, you're served quickly and the food is fantastic! We were there yesterday for a quick bite and had a great time. The hot turkey sandwich was delicious and, after sampling a friend's plate, the pan fired haddock is top notch! The roasted potatoes were a little under-cooked but other than that everything was hot and delicious. And CHEAP. My meal and drink came to $9.50. I would definitely recommend Jennys for a a good lunch or pub style supper! read more

Went to this pub last night with some of my family members and friends, they had wing night and it was $5.50 a pount, so around 10 wings. Parking is only about 10 spots but we were able to find two that were open, walk in and theres really nothing to this place, it doesnt look bad but it doesnt look great either. So we sit down and i notice that its not very busy and im thinking maybe the wings are not good or maybe because noone knows this place has a wing night...i know i didnt know till my brother told me it did and this is my first time here. Anyway,we were greeted in a timely fashion and we ordered drinks and then ordered our wings. Once the wings came they looked great and i took a bite and they tasted really good and everyone at the table seemed to like them, not alot of sauce selection but all the main ones are there. We also orderd a large nachos but those were ok at best and they looked like something you can make at home, they didnt taste bad but there was nothing to them,cheese,jalapenos,and tomatoes..thats it. Overall though i really enjoyed the wings and i would go back for the service as well. Next time i will try other things to get a better overall experience of the place but so far so good! I really like this place. It's near my home, otherwise I never would have gone in as it doesn't really catch your eye and is tucked away in the north end. If you aren't living in this neighbourhood you may never know of it's existence. And that's too bad - this place has really great wings and fairly priced drinks with some good specials. I love going here for wings with some friends - it's a great level of noise and is the sort of atmosphere to sit around and catch up with people. The wings don't have many sauce options - just the standard choices. However the size of the wings is awesome and they're always well cooked. Go check it out if you've never been. I personally hope they keep doing exactly what they're doing - it's nothing over the top or fancy but they have good prices and it's the right kind of place to have a low key night with some friends. read more

Years back, I had my first ever legal beer right here at Jenny's Pub. Once a month or so ever since, I like to head back; it's by far the best pub in the North End of Halifax. Why do I like it? Well, the usual reasons really - the food is great (my favorite hamburger in the city, actually), staff are good at their jobs, the price is reasonable as can be. The only complaint I've got about the place is the parking lot, which is ridiculously tight even for folks (like me) with small cars. Not a big deal though, lots of on-street parking to be found very close by. read more

He passed away this January The owner was great in helping out with everything. We had his celebration of life at Jenny's. Steve and the people that worked there were great. It was a full house. This was the worst service I have ever had I've eaten there many times in the past and the portion sizes were great. I had breakfast today and had the corn beef hash with two poached eggs and hollandaise sauce while the two poached eggs came in a side dish lols I put on top of the corn beef hash you couldn't even see any of the hash. The portion size have decreased in size . You only receive 1/3 of the portion size now The manager told me they had to make smaller portions or raise the prices. I literally ate my breakfast in four bites. Hard to believe I had to order another breakfast . I looked for it going there but was so disappointed. And will never go back. Not only that when did a BLT cost $10. with no home fries just the sandwich. This is ridiculous The bad service is unbelievable and the menu should not state that you're going to get a generous amount when you finish your breakfast in less than 2 1/2 minutes. I've lived down the street for over a year now and finally decided to try Jenny's today for lunch. We popped in around 3pm and it wasn't very busy, but there seemed to only be one woman working and she seemed very rushed. We had to ask twice for a refill on the water. Food was your standard pub food at a good cost. $35 exactly for an appetizer, two meals, and two beers. Not bad. I can't say that I particularly enjoyed my meal, though. The roasted potatoes had a very rubbery texture and weren't very warm, and the caesar salad consisted of white and yellow pieces of romaine lettuce. The scallops were good however, but were served with an old bottle of seafood sauce that was almost empty and smelled quite sour. read more

A nice, local neighbourhood kind of spot. Lots of regulars, friendly staff and all the stuff you want in a bar. It's a cross between a pub and a club that also does a great breakfast. Will people plan their vacations around this place? No. But it is the kind of place every neighbourhood needs. The food is average diner type fare. Nothing fancy and something for almost everyone. Beyond the food and drink, this place is a great community supporter, and has a loyal following. If you are in the area, and hungry, stop in. And for those who are interested, they have VLT's. read more

I've been back dozens of times for weekday breakfast around 7:30 with a friend and normally we are the only ones there, so take a big booth at the front. The place itself is quite large, your standard "tavern" with some dart boards, couple TVs, a modern jukebox, VLTs in a room off to the right when you enter. Parking on both sides of the restaurant, but not a lot of spaces on each side, so you may not get a spot if it's busy. Luckily, it's never an issue at breakfast. Simple, straightforward service. The Jenny's breakfast special is always good (I don't see it online anywhere to get the price, but it's reasonable at around $10 and includes toast, hashbrowns, eggs, meat) and is always filling. Good sized cups of coffee too. I went for Labor Day 2017 breakfast at 10am and wanted the corned beef hash, but they were sold out. I was able to get it another time and it was delicious, with the chunks of meat pretty small, green onion, greasy but didn't feel terrible after I ate it, and would love it again. Their Eggs Benny is very satisfying as well, and around $10. Unfortunately, they have changed their weekday hours to 8am, which I don't blame them, but it's sad that I won't be able to get there anymore before work, where I used to go regularly with a coworker. Came once with a coworker for lunch on a sunny Monday in November and the place was mostly empty surprisingly. He really enjoyed his hot hamburger sandwich, saying it just tasted good and was overall satisfying. My 1 pc fish & chips were average, nothing wrong with it, nothing memorable. I still go back for the odd weekend breakfast though, having taken my parents there once, which they liked a lot for its simple homemade food and decent prices. read more

Came to this place simply because I love a good diner dish! And living in the north end I thought why not try some local grub. First off, the service bumped this rating down to a three. The food was okay, it helped my hangover. My boyfriend had chicken fingers with poutine and I had haddock tips (great portion). I will be back for wings next time and a beer it's an awesome hangout spot! Down to earth vibe, they would be amazing with better service. Will return! read more

The way they treat their customers quite simply sucks. It would not even been that bad if he didn't write a-hole on the notice. So not a very good experience in my opinion. Jenny's Place has wonderful pub style food, and brunch is excellent!!! On special occasions Jenny's is a great place to be, but on a regular night, not overly exciting. They need to start having entertainment on a regular basis. It IS my neighborhood watering hole, and is always comfortable to me, but they really need to liven it up and also cater to the younger crowd as well. read more

Never go to this place , me & my wife and several friends went there on Saturday Sept.13/14 and were asked for ID which several of us did not have ID and were turned away and we are all in our 50's. The guy on the door was a real A-HOLE. He was letting younger people in without asking them for ID I guess they don't want the older crowd in there. read more

I only gave it 1 star because I have to. To begin with... we went there because we moved in the area a year ago. We had a group of friends that we wanted to bring over. We had a ritual of getting together for wings night on Thurs.... and then we told our group to join us locally. They were all excited. We went....the food and immediate service was good... by the end... we were over charged.... when we brought it to their attention, we were told we were rude... no explanation.... we ordered all kinds of food and drinks... my partner and I ordered quite a few drinks each and one of our single friend that drank less than us for the same wine,.,, was severely over charged!. What got us the most... 2015.... when it came to our bill... didn't' accept debit!... their response.... "It's stated in the door" In this day in age...2015... WHO doesn't accept debit!! and if not... shouldn't it be the waiters job to re-mention the fact???
