Had to wait, but there was a big group of us that wanted to go together. No complaints. The staff was nice, and professional. A better experience than some other ranges, and we could shoot a wider range of our guns (AR15s included). Far more updated range equipment than other ranges. Range was recommended by Bel Air Pawn & Gun, found it to be clean, well lit, modern and the staff was very friendly and professional. The range was well lit and the target controls wonderful. The only down side was the air on the range, very hot and humid, no make up air, exhaust on for the gun propellants but no air conditioning. read more

Took my dad as a late Father's Day gift and we had a good time. It was the first time my brother and I shot a real gun. The staff was nice and enjoyable to be around. Even the people in the range were nice. This place was very friendly orientated and I definitely want to come back again. read more

Wanted to get some prices for purchasing a new firearm and called around to dealers for quotes. Two other stores were more then willing to give me a price so I could make a decision on where to purchase. This place would not! If they will not give you a price for an item over the phone, they must be so expensive that they know you will not buy from them once they give you a price. They want you to come in so they can try to sell you, like a Used Car Dealer. read more

Had such a great time! Called around the area to several ranges and was put-off by other ranges rude staff. When I called Freestate, the guy who answered was so extremely helpful and eager to tell me everything I would need to know! My boyfriend is prior military (discount!) and I'm fairly inexperienced with guns so he had to put up with some silly questions! Only suggestions would be that they didn't start your range clock till after you fill out the paperwork. I'll know next time to grab the form from the counter before signing up for a lane. Gun prices are high and the staff act like they work for a security firm instead a gun range.The waiting lines are non existent. I'ld rather go to Select Fire, at least no ones there. read more

I have been shooting before, but only a few times. My boyfriend suggested going there to practice, as he was looking into buying another gun as well. The Asian female who works there was beyond rude, and talked to me as if I was stupid. She had a rude tone because I'm not a walking encyclopedia about guns. I'm sorry, isn't that why I am there? To learn? We have friends who have had issues with the Asian chick before but thought we would give it a try. After our horrible experience with her, we left the shop and drive directly to another shop to purchase his gun. They will never have our business again. And we have told all our friends to go elsewhere as well. read more

Haven't actually gone here yet.But so far their off to a bad start..I was going to get a year membership as a birthday gift. But after reading some of these reviews, i decided to go with a $100 gift card to test the waters first.Don't want to waste $290 on a family membership in case we have the same problem others have had..Unfortunately i couldn't get there to buy a gift card so i had to buy one online from their website. First off, the $5.95 to mail a gift card is ridiculous. Then on top of that, they charged me tax of $6.30 on the gift card. Gift cards are tax free until making purchases on it. So they have already ripped me off before even going there yet. read more

Awesome staff, great experience! My friend and I were both first time shooters, I can't speak for the veterans of shooting but to us these guys really knew what they were showing us and made us feel very comfortable. They were very patient and humorous. At no point did I feel rushed with the thousand questions that I had! Great place to shoot! I have purchased two guns from there already and signed up for the yearly membership! The assistance is great, and the wait times for lanes is very good (I have gone to the location numerous times and the most I ever waited for a lane was 10 minutes) I was also able to get a very good deal on 22 Lr ammo that rivaled any gun show 5 stars all the way! read more

Never been inclined to take time out to write a review before, but I just had to give this facility their props. Friendly doesn't even begin to describe the staff I encountered. My girlfriend took me here for a 27th birthday present. We were both new to the range and quite new to shooting. I've fired a pistol before but not the particular model we rented. The instructor was funny, friendly, helpful, and seemed to be very knowledgeable former soldier. The guy behind the counter was great. Smiled, wished me happy birthday, and shook my hand. I know it sounds small, but this is the type of customer service that makes people comeback. I live in Delaware and would rather drive here, than go to that descriminatory dump of a range Target Master. As a gay African American woman I never felt out of place or unwanted here. They treat everybody the same, and that's with a warm welcome. Although I did spend most of my waiting time in the mist of a loud group of guys that played pool uncomfortably close to where we were sitting (hey guys think about moving the pool table away from the waiting chairs lol), I wouldn't let that deter me from coming back. Great staff, great selection, and let you rent when you're they're solo. Will be my future range and where I get my first firearm. My bill turned out to 75 bucks for three rental hand guns (10 bucks a piece) and 2 box's of 9mm and one of 40 cal. If you're looking for a range, couldn't recommend it more. read more

The people are very cocky and seem to look down on you. Their prices are extremely high. I was looking at an ar15 that i found at gun connection for 150dollars cheaper. They where also much more polite and helpful. I wouldn't recommend freestate to my worst enemy. read more

We just came from there for the first time and loved it. It was me, my husband, our 11 year old daughter and our 13 year old son. We all had a blast and the staff was pretty amazing. For the first time in a range the staff did not look at us or treat us like a criminals. It was a short wait (15 minutes) but its expected since it was a Saturday afternoon, they have a pool table there so it made it fun while we waited. The staff there were very helpful and they took the time out to talk to us and answer any questions about the classes they have. We WILL be going back to this place. My husband has been shooting since he was little but that was my first time and it was a great experience and I can definitely say... I AM HOOKED!! lol read more

It was our first time here. The folks were nice and hard working. But we were shocked to walk in and see sooooooo many people there. They said it was an hour and a half wait. That was disappointing. BUT we went to have lunch and they texted us when lanes were free. We liked that feature. We rented two lanes. A 9 mm we rented jammed twice and they nicely fixed it twice and my son rented a rifle and it jammed and could not be used. I guess it happens. I was disappointed that when we immediately returned my son's guns after it jammed (only used 1x) and they tried to charge us for the gun and bullets. Not intentional, but they need a better system for when this happens. I would have been quite upset if I didn't ask before we signed the charge slip. Lanes were okay. Good rental selection. Lots of good guns for sale. The one red headed bearded young salesman we spoke to was so informative and helpful. We really appreciated him. Lots of parking. We'll go back and be aware that they are popular and can get busy on the weekends. read more

I've been here several times in the past. The range isn't close to me, it takes about 35 minutes to get here. Once I arrived today, I was told to fill out their electronic waiver. I asked if that was new and the guy behind the counter said it started in October. It is extremely invasive. For a place that posts on their window, "exercise your rights", I'm not sure they understand a right is also privacy. I'm not providing you my full name, DOB, DL#, address, phone number, and email. I'm surprised it didn't try to fingerprint me as well. Perhaps you should add that as well as a DNA sample. I'm headed home after not providing a treasure trove of personal information that I have no idea how they can secure it. It was a wasted day for a place I used to like. I've been here many times even though it wasn't convenient. Now, I'll skip this place and advise my friends to do the same. If they stop treating customers like criminals and invading my privacy, I'll come back. read more

well! well! well! On my very first visit Free state Did not acknowledge me for the 20min I shuffled thru the store. No hello, can we help you, not even a goodbye. When you pull up the closest parking spots were taking up by jacked up 4x4's not just the lifted variety. Most likely the store employes rides by the attitudes. there was even a bentley parked right by the front door. I figure with prices that high the one who owned that place could afford a bentley and maybe more At Least a sign larger then a pizza box. For the range They charge a damage fee if you hit the ceiling (which one could expect) buy the looks of it they have collected millions! I find fishy the one line reviews and the feed back that looks like it came from a positive feedback farm in India. most likely friends and family. Maybe free range chickens who knows. I do know that people that have visited Free State say the same thing. Prices are high (I agree) Some staff are pretentious, and feel the need to be strapped and ready to bust! You may or may not get any help until you pull out your money to show them your ready to spend spend spend! well we will see on my next visit if this place has any redeeming qualities left to impress. read more

Finding a good gun range is a difficult thing. After reading all the reviews and talking to some other buddies, I decided to try out Freestate Gun Range with my fiancee. Finding the gun range is pretty easy and when we entered the store, we were met right away with a place that defiantly liked it's guns. We went on a Sunday, so we did have to wait for a line to open, but we only awaited about 15 minutes. The people working the counter were really nice and knowledgeable. We did have to purchase ammo and our own targets and found the prices to be reasonable. The range itself was a nice clean indoor range and had about 15 lanes. My fiancee and I had a good time shooting and I'd defiantly recommend Freestate to anybody looking for a good indoor range. Being that this was my first time going to a shooting range, I don't know if the lane rental prices were good, but they seemed reasonable to me. Had a good time and would defiantly go back. read more
