It is a Pedro Sauer affiliate, with several of the instructors students of Master Sauer himself. Under the leadership of Tony Rinaldi, students are taught extremely technical, fundamental concepts of BJJ, with a focus on technique. There are 9 other black belt instructors who either teach or assist with classes, so everyone gets careful instruction and attention to ensure that lessons, drills and rolling (sparring) is done properly and safely. Ohio BJJ offers classes 7 days a week, and several classes each day to fit any schedule. Each class has a large number of students, which offers a variety of ages, skill levels, body types and both male and female students to give a lot of experience against different partners. The gym members themselves are all laid back and helpful. This isn't your 'tough guy' type of gym, it feels like more of a club atmosphere. New members are quickly welcomed and made to feel a part of the team. There are no real formalities, uniform requirements, or strict rules to memorize, just straight up pure BJJ. Oh, and forget about testing fees, and required advancement ceremonies. When you've proven yourself and earned a stripe or new belt, it is awarded to you by the instructor on the spot. Advancement is not just given after a period of time either. Every stripe is merit based, and when it is placed on your belt you know that you've proven yourself. If you are experienced with martial arts or looking to just get started, this is the place to go, hands down.

This school is run day to day by several instructors, under the watchful eye of Master Taylor, who has been involved in martial arts since he was 6 years old. It is clear that he has never lost sight of his young start, exemplified by his patients and composure with the kids in his classes. The leadership and discipline he shows acts as an example for the students, who learn these traits through their training. One look at the black belt students in this school will show the hard work and dedication that Jr TKD team contributes to the students. All of these advanced ranking students are well behaved, respectful, composed and their athletic ability is astounding. They are all willing to help with the lower ranking students to correct their form, and help them practice. We have personally noticed some huge improvements in our son in just a few short weeks. He is more attentive, and not just willing but EAGER to help out around the house. He is more focused and thoughtful, and he has been improving his communication skills and confidence. In addition to all of the benefits we have noticed, there is one that really stands out. Master Taylor and the Jr TKD school is deeply involved in the community. Master Taylor regularly teaches classes to local schools in the area. These classes deal with situational issues that arise in lots of students' lives, such as bullying, strangers, obeying rules, and respecting themselves and each other. Sure, this may indirectly bring new students to the school, but the impact that this may have to some kids who may be dealing with these issues can not be measured. Our son looks forward to going to class several times a week, and with the benefits we have seen from his personal improvement, we look forward to bringing him in. As a testament to the schools training ability, many of the students have gone on to win awards at competitions regionally and nationally. The success of any school should not be measured by the number of trophies in the case, but by the character building of the students. In the case of Jr. TKD School, they have both.

As is common with kids, my interests changed, but the studio refused to let me out of the agreement. Instead, the owner sent my account to collections, which ultimately cost me all of my graduation savings. The strict focus on money over the students was also clear in how uniforms were handled. My mother bought me a high-quality Adidas Grandmaster uniform. The owner initially got very upset and banned me from wearing it. He only changed his mind and allowed it after demanding that we put his specific studio logo on it. In my personal opinion, this establishment operated more like a "McDojo" focused on aggressive billing and control rather than a student-centered martial arts school. Be incredibly careful and read every line of the fine print before signing any long-term contracts here.

His wrestling and jujitsu (Eric Paulson certified black belt) was so impressive that I drove from downtown Pittsburgh each week to train with him. Very dynamic techniques and drills, perfect for self defense or competition. He trains and coaches jujitsu competitors, MMA fighters, women's self defense, and offers one on one personal training. The kids program is possibly one of the best in the country, and Mr Demko Sr., is a highly ranked Akido practitioner, offering classes several night a week.

They throw there bags, shoes and clothes all over the locker area. I have to avoid the children as many of them are coughing. I found a small table for my bag, shoes, water bottle, coat. When I come back from the work out room a whole family has taken over my table while feeding their kids breakfast. I moved over to a small bench. After my walk I find a family of 8 people sitting on the bench surrounding my belongings. None of these young families ever apologize or even acknowledge my request for them to move. Is this how young parents show their children to behave in public. Is it just my town or everywhere. I am very disappointed in the way the world has become. Everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and understanding.
