I had been suffering under the care of another psychiatrist for a year and a half. Finally out of…read moredesperation I googled the best psychiatrist in NYC and Dr. Mekles came up. That description of him is very accurate. He is without a doubt the best doctor I have ever dealt with. The attention you get from him is outstanding. If you're experiencing a problem, you can be sure you will speak to him that same day. His office staff is just as attentive. I highly recommend him. You can be sure you will get the best care possible. Thank you Dr. Mekles for helping me get back to myself again anxiety-free.

My experience with Dr. Brian Pell deserves to be publicly documented so others know exactly what…read morethey are walking into. I booked an appointment specifically for an ADHD assessment, clearly stated as such. That was the entire purpose of the visit. Yet, during the call, Dr. Pell casually informed me that they are not conducting ADHD assessments at this time and may resume, possibly in January or February of next year. This immediately raised a red flag: if you are not offering the service, why accept an appointment for it? Why bill insurance for something you never intended to provide? The entire interaction lasted 18 minutes, and not a single part of it resembled an evaluation. Instead, we spent the bulk of the time discussing my career. He asked about my former psychiatrist's nationality; he seemed very interested in why he didn't take insurance "as a Black doctor" (which I perceive as a common conflation between race and poverty). He then asked only two quick, surface-level questions about why I was seeking an ADHD assessment. Then in the same breath that he told me they are not doing assessments, he also told me that I probably do not have ADHD. He said this despite the fact that I was coming to him for a second opinion after already completing a comprehensive, legitimate ADHD evaluation with a diagnosis from an actual specialist. (I did not share I was coming in for a second opinion, as I didn't want it to be biased). He provided no testing, no structured questions, no clinical methodology, nothing that even remotely resembled evidence-based practice. The whole thing felt dismissive, and frankly, like a complete waste of my time. I left the appointment feeling misled and deeply uncomfortable, as insurance had been billed for a service that was never delivered. If you are seeking serious mental health care, diagnostic clarity, or responsible clinical practice, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This experience felt unhelpful and entirely out of alignment with what any patient should expect from a licensed provider.

As someone who suffers from ADD/ADHD (what is it even technically called?), when you're met with roadblock after roadblock on the course to treatment you eventually just... stop looking. That's actually what happened to me. A professor of mine noticed that some symptoms I was exhibiting matched that of a fellow student who also struggled in the class. He suggested I seek a diagnosis as it could help provide me the necessary resources in college to overcome something I was up against. Growing up in the 90s, I, like many others my age, was told that we were just lazy, not trying hard enough, and that ADD/ADHD wasn't real and eventually I believed it. Now, a teacher of about the same age (I'm back in school thanks to the panny), is suggesting I seek treatment. So I started looking. I looked for months. Nobody had availability. I actually was about to give up when my partner came found Modern Integrative Psychiatry on Yelp. Normally they're crazy booked out, but thanks to whatever circumstance, I was able to secure an appointment with PMHNP Ashley Winn. I've been seeing her for around 6 or 7 months now and honestly it was the best decision I ever made. She makes seeking treatment painless and effortless. We meet remotely so even though I no longer live in the best city in the universe, I'm able to see her from campus, my car, or wherever I have access to the internet. It's been a great experience and I can't recommend this office or Ms. Winn enough. For those, like me, who may have suffered for too long without seeking treatment due to the stigma: give it a shot. You'll be happy that you did.

With Dr. B, it's real-talk all the way, which has allowed me to identify my problem areas and make significant progress towards becoming my best self. I'm a busy person and want to see results from my efforts and the expenditure of my resources (i.e. money) so it's refreshing to work with a doctor who is aligned with those interests. * His help is custom-tailored to who I am as a person. I can't speak for his other patients, but I've found that Dr. B doesn't provide me with canned answers, which my previous psychiatrists have done. Instead, he took the time to observe my mannerisms, my perceived problems, etc. in order to provide personalized advice and therapy. * He's there for me. I have literally called and/or texted Dr. B on the weekends or late evenings, and he is always available to help as needed. I'm careful not to overstep my boundaries and only use this info in emergencies since I don't want to lose him as a doctor, but it's amazing to know that he's always there for me when I need him. That's all for now but, hey, don't take my word for it. Go and see for yourself. I hope this has been helpful!

I never felt like Dr.Buggie was a 'pill-pusher' and my only other experience with a psychiatrist had been bad, so I was relieved to find that he's great as a counselor as well as current and professional with medication. He leaves a lot of space for listening and what he does say is very thoughtful and to the point. He can be blunt, but he never comes across as judgmental. I felt able to speak honestly and be met with an open mind. Also his doggo Turok is so cute, his office is really nice, and the online scheduling is a breeze.
