We had a group booking for a Friday evening starting at 930pm and ending at 1230am. We ended up with "room 1" and it seemed they had quite a few rooms. I saw 9 or more... It cost our group 60 an hour which is basically a dollar a minute. If you are going to do Bohemian Rhapsody from start to finish ya it'll run ya about 6 bucks :) The room we had been given had 4 couches and comfortably seated all of us with enough seating for about a dozen or so. The room had coffee tables so we had places to put our drinks and there were 3 or so books with the song lists on it. One of the books was thicker than the others because it included entire sections for Korean, Japanese and Filipino songs on top of the standard English lists. The lists though were only in order by song, not by artists so it was sort of harder to find songs because of that. The computer to punch in the codes was not in English but there were notes taped on it to explain what was what so it wasn't that confusing. Overall the place is clean, comfortable and the main middle screen while not that clear, we had 2 smaller higher resolution wide screens flanking the old screen so reading the words was not a problem. You could belt out as loud as you wanted even though there's other rooms adjacent everything's pretty well sound proofed so hearing a neighbor was not an issue at all. Newer songs (say last year or so) were grouped together in and color highlighted lists at the end of the books. The order to those almost seemed to be by month. Either way it wasn't that hard to navigate and it was fun. The pricing becomes more reasonable if you have a large group. For us 3 hours was only 16 bucks a person. As far as convenience there's parking along Bloor if you can find some and a Green P parking lot north of Bloor on Clinton. Christie station is right across the street so the TTC is a stone's throw away. read more

My first time doing karaoke! This was the perfect venue for it; a private room with all of your friends! No one to impress or worry about what they think. No stage, it's set up like a living room. It has very comfy couches and big tv screens. Reminded me of rock band! You get 2 mics and a few books to choose from. I was impressed at the selection! At the back of the book, there are new songs! Small bar with beer and non-alcoholic drinks. Prices were decent. Had a great time! Wouldn't mind doing it again! Definitely less scared of it now! read more

We had family visiting from the States this past weekend and wanted to take them somewhere different and fun on their trip to Toronto. Had a blast at this karaoke place. Not super fancy but was enough for us! The remote to pick songs was super complicated looking but luckily someone in our party knew exactly how to operate it (thank goodness!). Not sure how new their song selection is but we found plenty of tunes to jam out too and had so many laughs. They do allow outside food and non-alcoholic bevvies and serve alcohol for purchase inside. Not sure what size our room was (seemed small but was perfect for our party of 7) and was $35 an hour. We stayed for three so it worked out to $15 per person, which I thought was awesome. I am a karaoke watcher...meaning I always love to go and watch people belt out the tunes. I don't sing because frankly no one wants to hear a screeching cat :) I found myself here with a group of friends last week and it was a blast. This place has a few rooms - not sure if they are all the same size but we were in Room 1 and it comfortably held our group of about 12/13 people. In this room there was one big screen and 2 smaller tvs to each side of the screen - this way no matter where you were sitting you could sing along to the lyrics. The funniest thing was the background videos they played to the songs...race cars, asian pop groups dancing..etc. There is a small bar outside - a fridge with water, pop and a few alcoholic drinks. Nothing fancy but will get the job done. It runs about $60/hour which I think is pretty cheap if you are going with a large group. There are plenty of song choices here - even Asian versions of popular English songs. They have all the classics like Bohemian Rhapsody, to the more funnier - the Thong Song - to even soca/dancehall - Tempted to Touch. Seriously - you can pretty much find whatever song you want to sing in this place. The song lists were quite impressive. There is a street parking and a Green P lot across the street. Also extremely easy access by TTC as Christie station is literally across the street from here. If there is one thing I love, it is a good night of karaoke amongst friends. There is something about trapped in a private room together, belting out early 90's classics together and just being in your feelings. Freezone is located in the heart of Koreatown, just a hop, skip and a jump away from Christie subway station. While it is not as high-end and up to date as let's say Bar+ (near Yonge and Wellesley), you are still going to have a decent enough time. The venue is on the lower floor, so you'll be walking to a basement level, but the entrance is lit up by glowing neon lights. Each room varies in size, but each time I have gone with a group of ten or more. The couches and tables look like something you'd find on Craiglist, but don't worry - they are clean. Honestly, it's set up like you're having a karaoke session your living room and it's kind of awesome. And let's be honest: you're here for the music. The song selections are a bit dates, but you're going to find all the classics (Wannabe by the Spice Girls: check. Semi Charmed Life by Semi-Sonic, check.) Drinks are cheap. You can bring in your own snacks, so stop at the T&T Market ahead of time or order a pizza. Either way, you're in for a fun night. And honestly, just have fun. read more

Korean karaoke - it's always the smart choice. Here, you get $20 for an hour. What a deal, especially on a Friday night. The cherry on top is the bottle of shochu. Tasty and smooth, for about $20 more. Perfect accompaniment. The remote is entirely in Korean, so who knows what to press, plus there is no option to get the artists' vocals playing over you (if you're like me, you don't want to hear yourself **too** clearly), but hey, they give you a comfy couch, ,a disco ball, a nice sized room, and a large selection of jams. I was hesitant to book a large room at this place because of the lack of reviews (though all 3 were good) & there are many other well-known karaoke places in the same area. Freezone Karaoke deserves a review (albeit, a long one) & will definitely be back again! Freezone Karaoke is right across from Christie Station on the Bloor TTC line, the sign is fairly easy to find with the studio physically being downstairs. The place is quite clean: the lobby area, the rooms, & even the bathrooms - which I'm usually picky about with most of the customers being boozed up & sweaty from singing their hearts out. It was fairly busy since it was a Saturday night (peak day & time), but I could easily make reservations a week in advance & confirm the total attendance a day or two before the actual reservation date. I think their prices are great, though I'm used to spending absurd amounts of money at karaoke places in Markham because we add food and tons of beer that gets lost in the minimum room cost. I rented their largest room to house around 18 people, came up to $60/h - taxes included. I didn't know taxes were included so I had a very nice surprise at the end of the night since I though I'd be spending more. The staff are really friendly, not rude or pushy - which can ruin a karaoke experience. Ended up with only 13 people instead of 18 (same room size I believe), but would have housed 18 people comfortably. There was even room at the front for a "stage" area so you can show off those Beyonce moves you've been saving up ;) Rooms are clean, but initially smelled like the walls were sweating when you walk in - it fades away after a few minutes (probably because you get used to it). It has large faux leather couches, which are comfy but generate a lot of heat when you're all sweaty from that ballad or quintessential Queen Bohemian Rhapsody. Unfortunately the room(s) didn't have air conditioning, so that didn't help - dress lightly people! Interior design of the studio & rooms were simple, a bit retro but felt homey with friends and not too modern & pretentious (though I love that look haha). Soundproofing is good, couldn't hear any noise from adjacent rooms - couldn't say the same for them though, we may have just been loud ourselves. They even offer free wifi for uploading those embarrassing moments & singing selfies! The prices for beer are reasonable: $5 for domestic (Canadian, etc.), $5.50 for "fancy" domestic (Steam Whistle, etc.) and $6 for imported & vodka based bottles (Heineken/Smirnoff, etc.). I believe they have mixed drinks with a good serving size in red solo cups, but haven't tried (just yet) so I don't know how strong they are or the price - friends seemed to enjoy it though! They didn't serve any food, which I didn't mind since I don't go to karaoke to eat. They let you bring our own food as long as it isn't over the top/messy. We only brought a few bags of chips but I inquired about a party pizza being delivered there and they said that was fine - may try next time. They have a pretty good English song list which is updated and posted on Facebook every month - which I love. I wish there were more songs (new & old), but had most of the staple karaoke ones, so I was happy. Unfortunately they're not completely listed in alphabetical form since it's updated regularly. So they have each update in alphabetical order by song title, which make it difficult to find songs especially when you want to look for a particular artist & not just a song title (i.e. Backstreet Boys/Spice Girls of course). The system itself is easy to use with responsive remote & microphones; good quality of sound for speakers and mic. Microphones are wired (long wires) but I still prefer wireless. Was funny that they scored singers at the end of every song, not used to that but they're pretty generous ;). Music itself wasn't completely midi or original, it was a good mix of the two which I didn't mind - it adds to the karaoke experience. Music videos were of random Korean music videos, but we're sort of related to the emotional appeal of the song - nice touch. It beats random landscaping any day, but I still prefer original music videos that some places have. Accommodating staff, cozy atmosphere, clean facilities, responsive system but needs a better song book listing. What I like the most about this place is that there is transparency with this studio; other studios don't have pictures of their facilities & rooms, and don't post prices or updated song lists like Freezone does. Great bang for your singing buck - this will probably be my go-to Karaoke studio in the Korean town area! read more

Time after time, I find myself returning to this great karaoke joint in korea town. You get your own private room so you can create you own "Lost in Translation Moment" :) The song selection is pretty vast, lots of golden oldies all the way to today's hits! The rooms come with tambourines (to add more awesome to your karaoke experience), a disco-ball to make it feel like a rockin' party, and they have an okay selection of alcohol to help you break the ice and sing that first song. If you're looking for a late night karaoke bar in downtown Toronto, Freezone Karaoke is a great choice. Down a flight of stairs, Freezone is situated below ground level in a nondescript building, but walking into the reception area feels like stepping into a friend's basement. Save for the cash register at the counter, the whole establishment provides a homey atmosphere. As a party of four, a small room was only $20 an hour ($5 per person) with no additional charges, paid up-front in cash before allowed access to a private karaoke room. Drinks are also available at the counter (alcoholic and otherwise). The rooms maintain the friendly atmosphere with their pleather couches and disco lights. As it is a Korean karaoke bar, song selection favored Korean songs, but songs in English were plenty and kept recent with songs released only one to two years before this review. Freezone Karaoke is private rooms only establishment, so there's no chance of embarrassing yourself in front of the whole bar. However the walls are a little thin and we were able to hear the party next door belting out their version of Backstreet's Back. Overall, Freezone Karaoke (aka. JaYu GongGan Karaoke) offers a pleasant karaoke experience at an affordable price. Staff was pleasant and accommodating; we added an extra half hour to our session and despite going over extra time by 10+ mins, we were still only charged for the additional half hour. Upon arriving, we were greeted warmly at the door with a bow (so respectful!!). We then got a room and had the option to pay now or later. My group of 4 decided to pay later and had to leave ID at the counter to trade for the remote. There were 9 rooms and bathrooms in the establishment. We went in room 6 as a small group which made it $20/hour ($5/person/hr) and stayed for 3 hours! It was an awesome experience. Leather couches lined along the wall and there was 1 TV and 2 microphones at a decent volume and reverb. There was a large selection of Korean songs and sizeable selection of English songs. I was surprised recent hits like "Ariana Grande - 7 rings" was available--though I still think there wasn't enough new songs added in. Nonetheless, still lots of songs and classics to choose from! All songs had a code which had to be typed in to play- it was super easy to figure out and use. I also found it funny that the karaoke always gave a score out of 100 of how well you followed along; this added a little side game for us of who can do the best! Haha! The room was too dark though so I found it hard to see the binder of songs at times. Nonetheless, had a blast for a low rate! There were drinks available as well. It looked like they had soju, beer, pop can drinks, and others. There was also Asian snacks available for purchase. Written from the point of view of SWM. What a great place! The place has heat (unlike other places on bloor. The staff are friendly and the prices are reasonable. The music books have a section for English pop music and the catalogue is pretty good. They have free wifi and you can enjoy an adult bevvie in the lounge while waiting for a room. We showed up around 11pm on a Friday night with no rsvp and got a room within 20 mins Which is better than the shittier places that were not friendly and turning us away. I almost don't want to recommend this place - as more business might make it harder to get rooms but they do a great job here and deserve the praise 5 stars ! read more

After hopping around a couple of karaoke bars at midnight on a Saturday, and finding out they were full and we'd have to wait 30+ minutes, we ended up coming here and got a room within 10 minutes. For a group of 6, it came out to $60 for 2 hours, so $10 each, which we paid at the beginning. The room fit us all comfortably. There is a HUGE selection of Korean songs (even a lot of recent ones), but not so much for English. They have a lot of notable English pop songs, both old and new (ish... maybe from like 3 or 2 years ago) but if you're looking for anything really recent, you won't find it here. Nevertheless, it was a very fun experience. Or maybe I'm just saying that because of the alcohol we consumed and the group of friends I was with. It was quite expensive for alcohol: 2 smirnoff ice and a bottle of soju for $32, but once you start taking a couple shots, the price doesn't seem to matter anymore... If I'm ever in the area and other karaoke bars are closed, I would come here again, but as a first choice, maybe not. I'd probably go and explore other karaoke bars until I find one that I'm completely satisfied with. But I guess, like they say, "it's not where you are, it's who you're with." read more

This is the first Karaoke Bar I've ever been to in my life! Came for my friends 22nd birthday, and needless to say, we had a great time! Arrived the night of (om a Thursday) and were able to get a room without reservations. Between the four of us, it cost $20... $5 per person ain't bad! We booked it for an hour, and walked down the hallway to our room, number 6 ( think there were about 8 rooms total). The room was tiny,but cute! Had 2 leather sofas and 2 song books to search through. Included inthe book was a wide selection of Korean, Fillipino, and English songs. There was also a tiny little dico ball in thw room which helped set the mood! Didn't end up buying any drinks because we were having enough fum sober haha! I usually am not even comfortable singing infront of others,but with the amount of fun I was having here with my friends, there was no way I could not! If you're looking for an affordable karaoke bar to go have a fun night out with, I'd recommend this place. I have never felt so frustrated at an establishment until walking into this karaoke bar.The woman that was at the counter looked very annoyed and bothered the second she saw my friends and I. We asked her for a room for 6 and said we would have to wait 40 minutes so we decided to think about it outside for a few minutes. We ended up deciding that we might as well do it since it was so cold outside and we didn't want to walk more and look for another karaoke spot. We go back downstairs and my friend asked her for a room and she said she did not want to serve my friend because of his 'negative energy' when he was not rude or offensive in any manner. She did not want to serve any of us and wanted us to leave. We were so confused as to what was happening and shocked. we were not rowdy, rude or aggressive. I asked her why she was kicking us out and she had nothing at all to say and just said we had negative energy when I swear up and down we were nothing but polite. The selection is fantastic although I do feel like some obvious choices are missing. I went to Jayu few weekends ago and it left a really bad taste in my mouth. It was little busy, but the front desk was so disorderly with customers just hanging around, it was hard to get serviced. The front desk lady was really rude and angry too. Once we got their attention, we got a room but it was so damp, dirty and sloppy, like they didn't bother wiping down seats after previous customers had left. Place smelled like cigarettes too, with wet floors. I would never go back to this place. read more
