If I could leave a minus review would. After being with Fremont bank for many many years I recently had an experience that has made me pull my funds out and transfer my service to Patelco. I mostly used this account for bill pay as I had a monthly 401 distribution going there. A couple of months ago I paid a bill and when the receiver said they didn't receive it I argued that it had cleared my bank. When after waiting a bit to see if it was their mistake (it wasn't), I called Fremont bank and the rep said they would stop payment on that check and issue another one. When I got billed a $29.50 late fee from my HOA I called FB again and asked that they reimburse me for that fee. The manager's stand was they deduct the $$ from my acct when they SEND the check. I argued that it should NOT be deducted from my acct until the check clears. He refused to reimburse me and said he would have the branch where I opened the account review it and call me. I never received a call and I honestly can't believe their way of paying bills and how they handled this. Good riddance Fremont Bank! read more

I tried to close the CD with them three different times. The first time I missed the grace period by two days because the agent that opened it for me was in India no problem. I waited for the next six months to close it again. I called the 800 number and asked if I could close the CD and deposited into my account over the phone. They asked all of the identifying questions and I was told that it was indeed transferred to my checking account. A few minutes later, I went to use the money and it was still in a CD I was told I could go into a branch and they would release the funds to me because the CD was now in its maturity date I went into the branch and was told it was in fact, not in the maturity date, and I would have to wait two more months to be able to collect my funds I went into the bank today to get a cashiers check and asked if they would waive the $10 fee because of the inconveniences I incurred during the entire CD fiasco. I was told by the operations manager, that he did not have the authority to waive any fees. There was a period of time where this branch called me every couple of weeks trying to get me to switch my business account from Bank of America to Fremont Bank. After this experience, if they did not have me tied to a bank account because I have a safe deposit box I would've closed the account and left. The operations manager, I spoke with was Sergio Cuevas. The loan team is incompetent. My wife and I applied for a loan at Fremont Bank and they had approved our loan. However, I followed up with the loan team to confirm the funding of our loan and they indicated their loan team made an error in their calculation and their management denied the loan they had approved. Fremont Bank will not wire me my funds without me flying back to CA and personally signing their document. Essentially refused to send me funds via cashiers check. Will only release my funds in $2000 increments daily which will lock up my funds in my new checking account for days at a time until the funds"clear". Young unprofessional clerk who I won't name not only talks over you consistently but also will tell you in so many words to solve your own issue instead of taking a few minutes to remedy the problem I was having. After 3 weeks of back and forth of them wanting this document,that document, then that document now we need this and that.......they said they can't do our loan. I have a relatively new mortgage with Freemont Bank, and had not yet set up an online account. Trouble setting up that account so I called customer service. What I was really looking for was my most recent statement. After three days of back-and-forth and answering the same security questions over and over, playing telephone tag. I finally got the statement. The first customer service rep did not get my email address correctly and refused to give me my account number. Finally found somebody who answered the phone actually in a minute sent me my statement. Still trying to set up an online account so I don't have to deal with that anymore. read more

For over 35 years we've collected the Fremont Bank pens, coffee mugs, binders, calculators, tote bags, and tv!! We've had the checking account for over 35 years, We opened it at the Niles Branch! We have used the Fremont Bank for home purchases and refinance loans many many times over the 35 years!! The LAST time the Fremont Bank offered an outstanding clients and associates relationship, and a positive experience was decades ago!! Way back when Artie was the manager at the Brookvale Branch office!! We recently tried to take advantage of their 4.45% 7-month CD offering, I called their failed customer service department to set up a associates callback window to set up the CD account, they NEVER called!! What a waste of my time and effort!! This crap happened three times, three different days, and three different callback times!! The last one was this yolanda, who was transferred from a Sunnyvale branch to the Decoto branch. Yolanda, called and apologized for the Fremont Banks short comings, and promised me she was the dedicated associate, and this callback widow she gave me, will be her personal callback to set up our 4.45% CD!! Well that day came, and so did the window of her personal callback time, yOlAnDa failed to call me at our mutually agreed callback time!! SHOCKED??? Hell no, I expected more crap from them!! The FREMONT BANK is a TOTAL AND COMPLETE FAILURE!! When ever you call the Fremont Bank customer service, they automatically email you a Fremont Bank Survey!! The letter stated that they wish to no longer provide us with ANY banking services, and in accordance with our agreement, this letter will serve as notice that the FREMONT BANK intends to close our account!! Remember, They're the screwups that don't take constructive criticism well.This official letter was dated Tuesday, April 18,2023 and was delivered to our mailbox on Friday April 21,2023!! I've been a Fremont Bank customer for years (Checking, savings, refinance, and investments). Fee structure is pretty similar to other banks and as long as you follow the requirements it's all pretty simple. If I'm short on balance and get charged a "fee" is it Fremont Banks fault? No! And while I could probably call and asked to have said fee reversed why would I, it was my error. As for this branches staff and manger they have always been pleasant and easy to deal with. I have had a basic home mortgage with Fremont for over 10 years, never a late payment. Usually found their website fairly intuitive and manageable for scheduling payments. When I paid off my loan 11/23/21 I heard not a peep from Fremont. I followed their arcane rules and paid $25 to have the final $ wired to them, same day. I finally called today (24 days later) to find out where my $5K escrow monies are. Seems they are coming from Tennessee. And I should expect the check to arrive in 11 days to two weeks from mailing. This what Fremont told me. Kinda sad, they drag their feet to make a few dollars in interest I can only surmise. And leave a bad taste in the mouth of a previously loyal customer. read more

I am very upset with Fremont Bank , Jordan gave me a quote of an interest rate of 3.25%. I had mentioned to him I had debt I wanted to pay and he said that was no problem. After he collected a fee of 495.00 to process my application he said I would get that money back after my process was over. When it was about to almost close they had another person call me, she said I could not take cash out , that it would be a higher interest if I did that. I told her NO, Jordan and I I had already spoken about this in the beginning, she said she would get back to me. I immediately had a bad feeling, so he just not took my money for the application fee, I was now lied to about the interest rate I was first given . I called him to cancel everything. He seemed upset mad he said ok, when i asked him about my $495, he said I don't think you can get that back. I was having a hard time financially, I trusted this person.. this company, I was lied to and now I was denied my money and a return call. Jordan did not return my call after I begged him for my money back, he said he was going to ask his manager. He never returned my call. Ultimately Fremont Bank has cost me thousands of dollars. They refused to change the value of my HELOC without many steps (even before it closed) and therefore limited my refinance at 2.75%. Now the HELOC rate is significantly higher, so it is useless and they want to charge me $750 to close it or to keep paying $75/year to keep it open. I have excellent credit, in the highest percentile as respect net worth and income as well as the highest equity in my properties. Yet, this juvenile company has passed me off to several "loan processors" "underwriters", what-have-you...and all along kept feeding me BS that things were merely getting done. This bank is open 7 days a week. It's by far the nicest bank I have ever been in. This is the newest branches of them all. It's great. Its super secure, just like most of the other branches. You have to be buzzed in before you can walk into the bank. The set up of the bank is not typical either. It feels like you are sitting at someone's desk when you are being helped. Now I have personal relations with so many of their long-term employees such as Tejal Shah and Nobel Messiah. Whenever I can't reach the customer support, then I contact Tejal Shah who has been extremely prompt to offer personal service over the phone. This takes the service to a new height where you call an employee of a bank to get resolved technical issus related to the website (website displayed error while generating the statement on Chrome & Edge but OK on IE) or get a answer to a question. Decoto branch changes their rules frequently and they don't inform you the changes. You will only get know about the changes when you walk to bank. When I asked about, How Do I get notified about the changes? - I will inform my manger and marketing team. I would like to share my feedback. Can we talk to your manger? - Sorry, he is not in today. I go to this bank for both personal and business and they are the best. When the Lucky grocery store identity theft thing happened, they responded very swiftly. They take care of their customers well and they are LOCAL. Real good coffee selection, a seemingly unlimited supply of bottled water and when I had a sneezing fit, one of the tellers gave me a pack of tissues. UPDATE: I help run a medical office in Union City, and when I rushed over there ten minutes before 6pm it appeared I didn't have the proper paperwork to finish a transaction. They told me not to worry and that if I rushed they'd still take me in after 6pm. I drove back to work, grabbed the right paperwork and at 6:03 there he was waiting for me. I applied for home Equity line, the first person talk to over the phone Michael Garrick and he send me the link to apply So, I applied online since initially talk to Michael now he's my Loan officer every thing gone or handled online from processor to underwriter request online. It took 32 days between, in 32 days no one contact me neither. I contact the bank or these processors or loan office by the way there's no customer services at no points, I left several massages to loan processes and loan officer to at lease I should talk to someone regards to my loan. they won't call you back After 32 days which they ask for hundreds of documents and I did receive several email for conditional approval then they decline the loan for Insufficient income or DTI/Debt to income ratio high they didn't even ask for two years tax return as all other bank ask for it. They went to this bank in search of retirement IRAs and were highway robbery raped upon closing. Not only were they attached fees that were not disclosed at time of opening, but this manager was then trying to attach further fees if they did not take their funds in cash. A retired couple spent over 2 hours trying to get their money from this establishment. If I could give this review NO stars I would. After being a long time customer with Wells Fargo, it was a difficult decision to switch over to Fremont Bank. Lytrel helped me switch over and open my accounts. He explained to me the benefits of banking with Fremont bank verse Wells Fargo. One of my favorites is that you can use any atm since there aren't a lot of Fremont Banks, and Fremont Bank will reverse your charges for you. Another thing about Fremont Bank is they set up a table to support their small business customers. It was so cool to see that they find ways to help their customers not just provide an account for them. Lytrel was friendly and informative and truly eased the switch from Wells Fargo. This is NOT a community bank even it claimed doing community good. Being Fremont Bank customer over 40 years. I eye witness the declining in service and integrity. First, it took more than 3 weeks to handle my service charge ($18) inquiry & still waiting for respond. Simply asked for one time waive on service charge because I missed the min. balance of ~$100+ due to the property tax. I did forget it raised the min. balance from $1500 to $2500 since I never below the min. balance for 20+ years. I went to the branch in person two times and called one time and still need to wait for reply. Second, ergu... never mind. just disappointed. Stay away of it. Period... by the way, Chase only charge $12 for service fee if you below the min. balance but not $18. When my boyfriend and I decided it was time to invest in a house we took a leap of faith in deciding to choose Fremont Bank for home mortgage. I have to say it was the best choice we made in a long time! We both came from large chain banks so we were really skeptical about going to a smaller bank. Judy Tran Garrick helped us through the process by providing us information about the different loans we can choose, the rates and more importantly gave us a great start in purchasing a home. We were also helped by Charles who helped us set up automated payments to help pay for our mortgage loan and graciously gave us his hand sanitizer lol. Over the years my rating with Fremont Bank has declined from five stars to two stars. I have had several mortgages on multiple properties over several years. I also received a checking account which I have used for over twenty years. Recently, I deposited a rather large check (200K) and was told that the longest the money would be unavailable was 7 business days. I found out that the check cleared the originating bank after 3 business days and Fremont Bank is refusing to release the funds for another 4 business days. Additionally and most disappointing is that they will not wire the money to the escrow account unless I show up in the branch. Since I am in another state and approximately 1000 miles away, this is upsetting. Many other banks can wire money without showing up I specifically think of Charles Schwab's bank and USAA's bank. I am unhappy 06/18/2018 Updated review to 3 stars due to customer service. After posting this review, FB reached out and customer service said that they might be able to release funds early but transfers could not be done remotely.
