Ever since my children began school, my husband and I have always had Fremont Christian in the back of our minds as we love that the school teaches the bible, which is very important to us. Additionally, we know how great of a school FCS is since my husband is a FCS Alumni and I was a substitute Teacher at the school for a year a while back. We thought that we would give public school a try, to save some money, and if we didn't like it or it didn't work out for our kids, we would re-evaluate our options.  This year when schools transitioned to distanced learning, due to COVID, our worlds were turned upside down, along with the rest of the world.  Our kids were struggling not being in the classroom and not being able to socialize with children their age, so when we heard that FCS was bringing back kids safely on campus we jumped on the opportunity to transfer them and have never once regretted that decision!  The Teachers, Principal and Staff at FCS have been AMAZING to say the least.  When we drove on campus to drop the kids off to school on their "first day" we immediately felt that our kids would be well taken care of, which was not a confident feeling for us at our previous school. The organization, care and seamless process to get the kids safely on and off of campus puts our minds at ease.  The Teachers do a wonderful job with communication and my kids immediately loved their new school and look forward to Chapel every week, which was also not an option at our previous school.  We appreciate and love our new FCS home and are so glad we transferred our kids to this school when we did. "Fremont Christian was a good school" is what I thought at the beginning of going to this school. I am a former Fremont Christian student who went there from 4th to junior year. As the years progressed and I came to find out it isn't as good as I thought it was. Elementary school was okay because there wasn't an old lady bossing all the kids around blowing her whistle. There is an old lady who goes around handing out detentions left and right for the most unreasonable reasons. Another thing was, one of the kids was on her phone after school texting her parents and then that lady came up to her and gave her a detention. This same lady also dress codes people on the slightest things. The rest of my class and I agree that she only dress codes girls. She sees that part of someone's shoulder is being shows and runs over to them and dress codes them. Does she not know that that is the style now and not everyone dresses like a nun? You also can't wear shorts that aren't 3 inches above the knee. This is the stupidest dress code ever. For the good reasons, they're some amazing teachers. My kid really enjoyed math and said she learned a lot. He also said that he really enjoyed English in his 6th grade hyear because of the teacher. We later found out a few years ago they fired that same teacher. This school would improve a lot if they just got that old lady with white hair out of the school. Out of the things I heard and saw, she does nothing but yell at kids and complain that there is too much trash on the floor. I'm now in my 30s, but I attended Fremont Christian School from 5th through 12th grade. The best way I can describe my experience there is that it felt like a living nightmare. Everyday it felt like I was drowning. Looking back, that period of my life was when I first started developing severe anxiety and depression. I was naturally a shy kid but the environment at the school made things significantly worse. I experienced ongoing bullying throughout my time there...not only from classmates but also from teachers and even the school principal (Tricia Meyer) It created an atmosphere where I constantly felt unsafe, unsupported, and isolated. The only reason I remained at the school for so long was because my parents were hesitant to transfer me. By the time they fully understood how serious the situation was, I only had two years left of high school, so I stayed until graduation. Even now, I could write pages about the experiences and the people who contributed to the bullying I endured during those years. From an academic and developmental standpoint, I also do not feel the school prepared me well for life after graduation. When I entered college, I realized how unprepared I was socially and academically compared to peers from other schools. The environment at FCS felt extremely conservative and insulated, almost like living in a bubble. It wasn't until I graduated and left that environment that I felt like I could finally start living my life and growing as a person. One additional observation: the business manager who responds to reviews on Yelp, was actually a student in my class. Given the culture and bullying that existed during our time at the school, it feels somewhat hypocritical to see someone from that same environment representing the school without acknowledging the issues that many of us experienced. Oh boy, there's a lot to say about this school. I went here for six years, from middle school through all of high school. Part of that time was spent during the pandemic via Zoom. There was a lot of good, there was a LOT of bad. I'll start with the good: - It is, generally speaking, a safe campus. It is closed off with a gate and there are decent security protocols. The worst incident I can think of that happened in my time there was a student being expelled for smoking weed. - The performing arts department is strong. This includes theater and the theater productions, and the musical departments of band and choir. Mr. Banuelos, the band director, is incredible and one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. - Small class sizes. There are usually 20-35 students in an entire grade level (on the secondary campus; cannot speak for elementary). In an average class there might be ~15 students. - The biggest positive of all: the teachers there. Most of the teachers at FCS are extremely patient, kind, and invested in the success of their students. They will go out of their way to give students the help and support they need, and befriend and mentor them. Now, unfortunately, time for the bad: - The school policy feels outdated and uneccessarily rigid. A strict dress code is enforced of the "measuring-how-many-inches-above-your-knee-a-skirt-is" variety, ostensibly to maintain a "professional atmosphere." I was once told I couldn't wear cargo pants because the extra pockets could be used for smuggling drugs or weapons onto campus. Strict, traditional standards of masculine and feminine expressions are expected. - Tuition is ludicrously high, upwards of $20,000 A YEAR. This is even more concerning when you realize that... - The school is, by all measures, on the decline. In my six years there, I watched classes get increasingly smaller and smaller. Yes, there are some advantages to that, but it reflects the fact that more and more families are deciding to leave the school and go elsewhere. Every year, 3-4 teachers leave and at most 1-2 new teachers are brought in to replace them. At the time of my graduation, there was one singular English teacher on the entire secondary campus. At the rate they're going, I'd expect there to maybe be 10 students graduating in 3-4 years. - The school facilities are, at best, average. The classrooms in the newer S-building are fine, as are the choral hall and the science labs. But the older classrooms in the H-building feel wildly outdated. The athletic room had a massive hole in the ceiling that constantly leaked when it rained, meaning there was always a bucket under it. Ants and cockroaches are constant annoyances. - Despite this, the school seems to invest money in bizarre places. They bought extremely expensive rolling television/computer screens for every classroom instead of simply refurbishing the existing projector-and-smartboard system, even though virtually every teacher disliked the TVs and few used them. They installed new paper towel and hand sanitized dispensers in every classroom. - There were some safety scares in later years. There was a false bomb threat called in, incidents with homeless people sleeping on/just outside campus, an incident where a homeless person broke into and ransacked a teacher's classroom, and an extremely memorable incident where the nearby church was robbed and an intense police presence shut the campus down for the day. - The biggest problem of all, in my opinion, is the "Christian" part of FCS. Bible classes are mandatory, with students taking one every year. I'm not here to preach any of my beliefs, but being as objective as I humanly can, the school curriculum shows an extreme bias in favor of fundamentalist, conservative evangelical Christianity. In my many Bible classes, I either read or was taught disturbing things. This included: - An article about divorce stating that as Christians, it was only permissible in cases of infidelity and NOT in cases of domestic abuse, even if a woman was being (and I quote directly) "brutalized." - The repeated condemnation of the LGBTQ+ community and individuals, not only as being anti-Biblical, but directly counter to the good of the "state." - There's much more I could list but unfortunately, there's a word limit. TLDR; Fremont Christian School as an institution is poor. It has an outdated school policy system, and the "Christian" aspect is a particularly narrow and dogmatic view of christianity. The school is hemorrhaging money, losing multiple teachers every year, and yet continues to spend their funds in bizarre ways. While there are many excellent teachers and individuals at the school, they are leaving in droves, and the so the school is slowly losing its only redeeming factor. While I can happily recommend many of the staff and teachers of FCS, I cannot recommend it as a school overall. read more

A representative of FCS reached out to me on Yelp to gaslight me into changing my review, telling me that the racism I experienced there was not how the institution operates anymore. That representative (Karen B) told me that her experience was much better than what I described. Yeah. No duh. Of course, if my complaint is racist educators and leadership, a white kid would obviously have a better experience. How laughably obtuse and ignorant to expect me to change my mind because of HER experience. EW. MY review is based on MY experience... Karen ended our conversation and blocked me when I asked for a refund to my mother for one of my nine years at FCS: specifically 5th grade, when my teacher, Mrs. Henson-Oliver, severely traumatized me as a ten year old child. I admit I have done some things that have got me into trouble during my time here in both junior high and high school and got the punishment I deserved. But as a school I would not recommend this school to others. In my personal experience, I witnessed a significant amount of racism and bullying among students. I would not put your kid here if he was Christian or non Christian. They are also way too strict, for example if you are late to your class by one second they will write you up a detention because it has happened to me. Academically, the school has limited offerings, with only a few AP courses and a small selection of class options. Additionally, class sizes are very very small, and this school does not have many teachers, which may affect the quality of education. For those considering FCS for academic purposes, I would not recommend it. For those considering it for sports, I would also advise against it. The school's sports programs are not well-supported, and if your child is looking to make friends, the limited number of students may make it challenging than at other schools. Furthermore, event planning at FCS is poorly managed. For example, they scheduled a musical/play on the same day as an NCS baseball game, forcing some of my teammates who were in choir to rehearse for the musical on a day we had been preparing for all season. This level of disorganization is frustrating and would not occur at most other schools, where sports and extracurricular activities are better coordinated. Transferring out of this school for my senior year was a blessing. I recently graduated and am now attending San Jose State University, majoring in CS. At the first year here, the teachers are great. When we went to higher class, totally lack of supervision and they were worse than a daycare! Director said the higher class' ratio was like this and teachers can't take care of every child. Yes, and so what?!!!? Even if your ratio is 1:100000000, you still need to think about the safety. It's not an excuse. You can't throw this to parents and ratio problem. They give video very day (not Jesus, so many others) and so many other things which should bring you attention! They didn't teach things. Worst thing: The preschool director is very hard to communicate with. If something happened, he firstly think of their teachers their benefits. Never think from parents side and no empathy with family. My kid was described like a monster from his month.... Did my kid target someone and hit someone? No! He will enlarge every tiny thing. When they made mistakes (like climbing, tantrum, kids grabbing toys from each others), they tried to throw this to kid.... I just communicated with him, one of his teachers should improve communication skills with parents, and I didn't want to complain or something. Just an advice. Then he tried to say something negative about my kid! Can't believe it's the way an adult runs preschool... He will assume your 2-3-4-year old kid can do anything (taking care of themself, self-awareness, etc) From my side, I seriously doubt his professionalism. Preschool director is a very important role. Because he deals with clients and communicate with teachers, they should be reasonable in these relationships. And so many other things, I don't want to waste time to address. I went here 1st-6th grade. I'm now 30 years old...It was not until I left the school many years ago that I realized how brainwashed I was. I would often leave school at the end of the day to come home and cry because my parents questioned God and were open to other religions. Since my parents didn't share the school's similar beliefs, my teachers said that they wouldn't go to heaven... can you imagine how traumatic that is for kids to hear for years in school? There were many other issues that occurred including the whole incorrect science issue. Also we weren't allowed to watch any Harry Potter (sorcery!)- things like that. It was just ridiculous. The only thing I really appreciated from the school was the music and art programs. Mr. Guzman was fantastic. There was no inclusivity on other religions, and it took many many years to get out of the bubble that the school put me in. Moreau Catholic high school in Hayward was absolutely fantastic! They were very inclusive, and this is where I actually learned about other religions, and flourished in education. I met some great friends here but to be honest, I don't keep in touch with any of them anymore. Many people also had this same experience. Teachers and administration here are so unprofessional. The dress code here restricts almost everything! Yet, a girl could be wearing a cropped shirt and jacket with leggings (all against dress code) and she'll be fine but a student wearing a jacket that wasn't purchased from the school (completely fine according to dress code) would get in trouble for it. Elementary teachers especially are so rude and prejudice. Some of the secondary staff, from experience are also very unreasonable. Definitely would not recommend this school! Overly strict & way too many detentions given. Anyone would be better off at a public school. Also the teachers, school staff, and the administration are very obvious to be biased towards individuals who are affiliated with the church. This causes somewhat of a hostile environment as many of the other students are treated as somewhat of "second-class". As with being overly strict, there is an EXTREMELY sensitive dress code, that in my opinion actually negatively affects the students' academics. Many international students have been given detentions over speaking a foreign language to classmates in class. Some high school students get detentions or Saturday schools for listening to certain types of music during lunch on their OWN headphones. The teachers/staff (in my opinion) also place too little emphasis on academics and too much on religious issues here. read more

I'm updated my review yet again, Fremont Christian School did help me and my son a lot, words can't describe how grateful I'am for that. But at the end of the 2018-2019 school year I felt that the school had totally given up on my son. It really saddens me that my child was turned away because he learned at a different rate than others. Yes they did work with us for years, but right before the 2019-2020 they just kicked us to the curb last min. All I can say is this: every children is unique and special in their own way, every child learns differently. It really saddens me that Fremont Christian School doesn't have any resources to help children that may be learning different. My son is now in public school so I get to save my coins that's for sure and on top of that he's happy and getting the help he needs. We moved our daughter in 10th grade to Fremont Christian High School and I am so happy. It has everything we were looking for in a school when we moved our daughter abruptly. Our family is blessed that Fremont Christian exists in Fremont, CA. I can honestly tell you that for the tuition price you get so much, it's the best deal in the tri-city are for an outstanding Godly education. The caring teachers, administrators and outstanding academic counselors that really prepare the kids beyond high school. Our move here to Fremont was made 100 times easier because my daughter adapted so quickly to Fremont Christian High School. I will tell you if you have an achiever especially than this is a great High School for your child. They are excited about kids that want to take AP classes, teachers want to help motivated students and parents always know exactly how their student in progressing minute to minute academically. Classes are small and kids are expected to produce. FCHS is a kind, loving, community of individuals (students teachers administrators and staff) that want to support your student. You get a well rounded curriculum. I can tell you that this school can prepare your child for the highest level UC's and beyond if that is what you are seeking. If your kids consider " active " or " over active " this school is absolutely not for your kid. My 5yrs old son had awful experience in this school during the past summer camp. ( suppose to transit to k after summer camp finish) After 3rd week of summer camp the main teacher sent us email basically said my son not listen to teachers sometimes , not follow classroom instructions & sometimes hard to stay focus ! We asked for meeting with principle and pretty much he read the email and just asked us to find other school for my son . Come on. Really ? The teacher had ZERO communication with us during the first 3weeks and then just ready to kicked my son out by a email ? And who's 5years old kids is perfect? Perfect like robot and not make any mistakes ? Honestly speaking most of staffs are great and nice but the primary school principle he just doesn't know how to handle active kids. All he did is drop off the ball and asked us to find other schools for my son and didn't even offer my son 2nd chance. Plus I still think my son acted very Normal. The main teacher ( was pregnant ) was the worst teacher I never dealt with . I'm very disappointed the way they handled the issues wasn't even close to match the christian values. I'm so glad we found way better school for my son and he is so happy and be a better person everyday. A good school with lot of balanced curriculum. Both my kids (one already graduated ) study here. I enrolled my daughter after a disastrous public school experience. My daughter was happy after the move. Sports, music activities are encouraged. Teachers are keen not to overwhelm kids with tedious homework, but make sure they learn the subject. If you want to know that while you are at work, school, etc., that your child is in a structured, loving and wholesome environment, then Fremont Christian Preschool is for you. Here's why: -The teachers genuinely love the kids. They hug them when they get hurt, console them when mommy or daddy leave, help them fall asleep during nap time, and are just genuinely great. -There is structure. Kids love structure. My 3 year old tells me that after the morning snack, that it's circle time, and then they do this, and that, and then lunch and then nap time. -Not over the top bible studies. The kids learn "that Jesus loves them" but it's not overboard. -If your child is 2 but not potty trained, they will help with potty training! (for an extra charge of course). I have nothing bad at all to say about this place. Some may say it's a bit expensive, but to me, so long as I know that my child is taken care of it's well worth it!!!! read more

This preschool has been a "home" to my three sons (ages 3,5,7). The teachers are amazing, always greeting my boys with hugs and smiles. The administration and office staff actually know each student and family. The playground offers a safe place to play with the "spongy" ground, slides, tricycles, and a canopy. I have tried the lunch they serve and it is pretty yummy. Classrooms are spacious and bathrooms are clean. By the way, teachers are very helpful and supportive with potty training process, both for the kids and parents too. The religion aspect mostly focuses on respecting others and being thankful, which are wonderful values for preschoolers. I attempted to switch schools thinking I would find the same "love" at another school but always found ourselves back at FCS. The price we pay to have happy, smiling boys and peace of mind when I am at work is priceless. My youngest son can't stop singing the songs he's learned. When we came for a visit before enrolling my youngest, my oldest son said it best, "This is where all the fun begins!" read more

This is the best decision I've ever made to send my 3 years old son to this preschool. After I visited and toured quite a few preschools in Fremont, I finally chose FCS not only because my friend highly recommended it, but also the school's philosophy and the teachers here are so kind and devoted! My son was very premature borned. I am always worried and concerned about his first school life in an unfamiliar environment. I need to find a preschool which is SAFE, having caring teachers with decent morality and friendly classmates, satisfying teacher-student ratio, healthy hot lunch and sufficient snap and outdoor playing time for kids to develop their physical agility skills. I am so glad I found it! Everyday when I pick up my son, he always smiled and waves hand to me, and overcomed his shyness to say "Goodbye " to teachers and classmates. He is reluctant to go back home with me because there are so much fun to play with other classmates in the play ground! Miss Kaily and Miss Megan are young teachers with passionate and knowledgeable experience dealing with new kids. They comforted my son during the first couple of separation anxiety days while kept me noted everyday his behavior in school. Meanwhile they suggested me not stay in the classroom after hugging and say byebye to my son. This worked! It only took him 3-4 days to get used to go to school without tears! Our family has been a part of this school community for a long time and I've never really thought to do a review until now. After pondering all of the great things that comes out of this school and weighing it against all of the ugliness in the world, I thought it would be a great opportunity to spotlight a group of pretty awesome educators and partners. When evaluating a school I believe there are four major areas one should consider: Curriculum, Educators, Facility and Partnering with families. CURRICULUM They have set rigorous yet achievable standards for children to learn, understand and grow. It's not one of those schools that will pressure your child to high stress situations but it is also not a school that just let's the kids ride with no real challenge. It is just the right amount of balance between being challenged and being a kid. EDUCATORS Great and caring staff, incredible teachers, No it is not a PERFECT school but what school is. I can however say that it is darn near close to PERFECT as a school can get. FACILITY One of the biggest things that drew us to this school is their ability to support the kids from early eduction levels (pre-K) all the way to 12th grade. So especially if you have multiple kids in multiple grades it is a one stop shop. If you only have one child, then they never have to leave until graduation. PARTNERING WITH FAMILIES We have partnered with the school and have had 4 children beginning in preschool/early education. When issues have arisen like transitioning our kids from one campus to another, we have found all parties involved to be more than willing and able to assist us in finding solutions. The Elementary principal (Rick Troia) and the head of school (Dr. Meyers) have been nothing less than a blessing to our family. Creating a sense of community among the campuses by hosting things like a school wide Luau or 5k run is an added bonus. While diversity could definitely grow, they are doing a lot within their control to identify and obtain families of all nationalities, races, cultures and various backgrounds. We have always found an open room and open ear situation if there was a need to resolve any issues. They really do care and the office staff (i.e. Pam Houps and Jeanne Goodall) bend over backwards to make everyone feel special. It is genuinely done from the heart. read more

We have two children and both of them started at Fremont Christian from the time they were in Pre-School. The older completed FCS and is now in college. The younger is still in high school. There are many aspects I appreciate about our school. The administration and teachers are people you can talk to and work with. It is a Christian school that tries to develop our children in mind and character. The smaller class size provides more personal attention when we needed it. We benefited from participating in multiple team sports starting from Junior High. I wish I had a baseball team at my school when I was in Junior High! Coach Gomez led our high school baseball to win the NCS Division 5 title last year. Both of my children have had opportunities to participate and lead in classroom, clubs, and sports. One of the things I appreciate most is the social environment of our school. My son has friends in multiple grade levels due to sports. Negatives: - when waiting for the TK class visit and the registrar quy, I happened to be in front of the closed TK room and heard the teachers telling/encouragaing students to dance and sing to a loud techno music (I believe it was "I like to move it" song in a techno version) - I was quite surprised kids at this young age were being exposed to this "classy" music - the room temperature was 66 F (we did check it together on AC box with the registrar as I noted the room was very chilly when entering the classroom. The teachers were in jackets and hoodies and kids in T-shirts.). Upon asking what the standard range is I was told it was between 67-70F. I was also told that the teachers did turn it down to 66F on that day as they were about to go out to lunch and to playground afterwards and didn't want the kids to get too hot when returning to the classroom. - there were 2 TK teachers - I assume one a proper teacher and another assistant (?) who were not native speakers of English as they spoke with a foreign accent. Now I am not surprised this is a standard practice in Fremont due to lack of native speakers living in the area and hence I did not see many native language teachers in most of the preschools I had visited in Fremont but starting from school level - TK level all Fremont schools I visited (public or private) had native English teachers Neutral: - fee is ~$1500/month read more

I am a previous student of Fremont Christian. I have attended this school since Pre-K up till freshman year. I left in 2010 after my freshman year. Overall this school is alright for PRE-K THROUGH 6th GRADE. For elementary school, I enjoyed many memories I had, and many teachers were the bomb! (Mrs. Abellon, Mrs. Lamm, Mrs. Garcia, to name a few). The uniforms were pretty awful and Wednesday unforms were just bad for the girls (checkered dresses?). The rules were really tight among the childcare staff & most of them weren't even friendly to the kids; they were really harsh on all of us. I honestly remember only 2 or 3 childcare staff being very friendly. But the curriculum was alright, although I would've enjoyed a stronger one that could build the foundation for future learning; I struggled all throughout my school years because I didn't have a strong foundation for learning. Also, on a negative note, the kids treat each other as superior and inferior beings: the older kids "bully" the younger kids and the kids usually are show-offs. Also, everyone knows everyone (for it being a small school), so teasing does occur often - I was in fact one of the kids who was teased a lot., and the staff didn't do much to prevent it. So OVERALL, elementary was ALRIGHT (curriculum), but was also bad due to kids' behavior and the kind of adult care that was being displayed. For Junior/High School, these years were the years when FCS began to deteriorate. There were a whole bunch of new teachers by the time I got to 7th grade. But at least I got to have some awesome teachers during my Jr. High Years (Mrs. Ricafrente, Mrs. Garcia). Jr. High was pretty bad because we had less privileges than the High School. We were also under tighter security and we were in more constant trouble because the teachers would see us doing something that was "unchristian." And if we did get in trouble, we wouldn't get a verbal explanation, we would AUTOMATICALLY get a detention right there. That was just absolutely ridiculous.And the kids were even worse at this stage: gossip going from one end to the other, and judgment and dirty looks from your own fellow peers; this did not produce an inviting and encouraging atmosphere. But the curriculum was alright: Bible instruction wasn't very academically challenging (just seemed like an extra class), English and Math courses were alright, but History and science were the bomb! So OVERALL, Jr. High, academically, was challenging enough to get me semi-ready for high school, but on a personal level, fellow peers were never encouraging towards one another and it all just seemed like competition among everyone. PLUS, cliques were everywhere, and the popular gang always knocks down and discourages everyone they come upon. For High School, I only stayed for my Freshmen year, but my freshmen year was pretty bad itself. The cliques still existed and the school just seems like a social hierarchy - with the popular ones at top, and the studious kids at the bottom. Most of the high school is just like the Junior High section above ^, but we had slightly more privileges. We didn't have to go to after-school childcare anymore and we had slightly more freedom. The band and choir program are alright, just wish we could do more competitions against other schools. The academics are good, with the school offering some APs and honors English classes. But I just wish they could offer more AP classes and have a stronger fine arts program: one that can be competitive. Their athletics are pretty cool and everyone on a team works really hard (I played volleyball during this time, and we worked our butts off). The teachers in this stage are better, but also, there are new teachers who just suck in general and don't even teach at all! (I won't name names). So OVERALL, the high school students are still show-offs, popular-savvy kids, and jerks who don't contribute to a learning atmosphere, but the academics are good, though the fine arts program should be involved more locally with other schools rather than across the state. This school is a 11k+ school, academics are alright, but the students are suck-ups & attention-wanting jerks, so my recommendation is 2-stars and you're better off sending your kids to public school and save the money. I appreciate all FCS has done for me in my school career, but honestly, I am glad I left. I went to James Logan High School, and got SO INVOLVED there than FCS. I was in the award-winning marching band, Forensics (debate), played Varsity Badminton, and challenged myself academically by taking more AP classes Logan offered than FCS. Through all this, I was able to go to UC Berkeley. But the 2 things I wanted to accomplish in high school were 1)compete in fine arts, which is what I did at Logan through marching band, & 2) take AP classes that I REALLY wanted to do (Statistics, Calculus BC, Physics, World and US History, Government, French, & more) but sadly, FCS didn't have much APs. read more

What I love most about FCS - they really teach the kids so much more than academics. They teach them how to make a difference in the world even while they are so young. I have 2 kids there and they get more excited about Operation Christmas Child (sending shoebox presents around the world) then their own Christmas gifts. Not to mention my 4th grader has straight A's and is always challenged, gets to take part in band and and drama with concerts and Broadway-quality productions. My kinder thinks school is the happiest place on earth. Parents are involved. Teachers are caring, organized, and just wonderful. Security keeps strangers out. Every year there is growth and improvement. Great place to send your kids. read more

This review applies only to FCS SECONDARY SCHOOL (6-12). A typical private secondary school where parents who do not trust public education will send their kids to. Although most of the teachers are highly knowledgeable and diligent, there are still some teachers who do not seem to belong in private high school that costs well over 10K a year. School administration has many flaws that really hinder the school environment to be more student-friendly. (1) Administration and teaching staff are overly obsessed with parents' opinions. This shows lack of clear educational philosophy of the school itself. In other words, school faculty runs the school as if it was a supermarket; prioritizing customers who pay money. (2) Newly-implemented international student programs seems like nothing more than a new income source for the school (and the church). Overflowing amount of foreign students make the school seem like an international school, and you can hear foreign language (objectively speaking, mostly Chinese and Korean) anywhere on the campus during school days. (3) School and Church board members seem to be highly conservative. This prevents students and teachers from providing more enjoyable atmosphere to their peers. Student body has a tendency to form its trend around a few students who happens to be daughters and sons of either church or school faculty. Although not very prevalent on the surface, this definitely brings in certain unfair advantage/disadvantages, and above all, creates a very exclusive atmosphere that does NOT welcome new students. For a secondary school with a high school program with approximately 200 student population, athletic programs are just fine, but school itself still lacks facility. (This will change when the campus renovation is completed in few years). Fine arts programs are great, thanks to highly experienced and talented directors. Many home-schooled students attend Fremont Christian's Drama, Band, Choir programs. As a person who had been in a close relationship with this school in recent years, I am deeply concerned about the educational potential of this school, especially in near future. If I happen to have an opportunity to send my children here, I would rather not unless: (1) the entire church and school administration changes, or (2) 50% or more discount in tuition is offered. Still better than a regular public high school in terms of safety, but definitely not worth the tuition the school asks for. read more

My son was there for one year. We were planning from elementary all the way to high school but that changed the end of the first year. All the really good teachers have left or planning to leave. Loved the teacher my son had but was very disappointed with the schools treatment of their teachers. Tuition is pretty high. Not as high as Stratford or Challenger but it's up there. Seems every time you turn around, parents are leaving disappointed. Be careful before signing and turning if your money. Read the fine print. I signed up my 2nd in but when I went to withdraw him, I got this from the superintendent: According to our long-standing policy, we do not refund application, registration, technology or first month of tuition fees for first year K-12 students. In other words, I lost my money. I will never refer FCS again. read more

This was the worst decision I have ever made to put my 3 years old to Fremont Christian Junior Preschool. This school has poor internal control and the young preschool teachers are obviously less experience and patient in handling active kids. I was told the preschool teachers are only 1-2 years experiences. The teachers there seem expecting the 3 years old there are all nice and quiet, follow what teachers said without their own mind. The principal of the preschool only relies what the teachers said without making her own judgment when incident happened. She seemed can't manage well with the teachers' behaviors. Teachers just made their decisions on restricted notice to parents without getting approval from principal. They did what they want to do. I was informed by a class teacher that my son punched someone in class. As this class teacher kept complaining of minor stuffs, when she started to complain, she will continue for two weeks that I already knew, so I seek for help from the preschool principal hoping to get a fair understanding of this incident. Incident was actually happened on a Thursday, I was informed through school daily report. Friday, I emailed principal but she was out of office. Teacher talked with my husband at drop off in the morning that he punched someone. My husband mentioned late sleep last night, but usual sleep time on the day of the incident. We received the daily report when we picked up with no comments for that day. After the weekend, I called principal and had a 30 minute talk on the phone on Monday. Principal said she visited his classroom for 1.5 hours and she saw that he was trying to grab other's toy, after the classmate said no, my son just looked at teacher seeking for help. She said she saw 90% he was doing good and only around 10:30am-11:00am he felt a bit tired. She said he punched someone (without mentioning about signing a behavior report). We seemed to have a great talk until a sudden email popped up, it was sent by a after school teacher whom I had never heard any complaints. She said this was a follow up email (just make it clear: We was never informed by her) with us that my son will be prohibited from staying within the school area after school effective immediately due to unsafe behavior. I immediately asked principal of what happened while I was still on the phone with her. She sounded uncertain and said she will follow up with me later. I was thinking why that teacher would make final decision on an issue that is still being discussed? Principal then sent me an email said my son has a level 2 behavior violation based on the teacher said which the principal never mentioned over the phone. On the behavior report, they changed the wording from "punch" to "hit" just to comply with the level 2 violation wording. Also, I said wrong on the date of the incident, in fact it's Thursday. But the principal did not even aware of it and kept saying Friday (which mean she did not even get a deep understanding on the incident). On the behavior report, it stated my son hit a child multiple times causing bruising. I have many question marks that how come no one ever mentioned about the bruising on Friday. All of the sudden, they mentioned it 4 days after. How can they determine the bruise was caused by my son for sure after a long weekend without picture or any evidence provided? I asked my son what happened, my son admitted he grabbed toys from others but he did not "hit" others. For my view, I think he punched but not in purpose to hit in his mind. If teachers did have a long talk stopping him from hitting multiple times, how come a toddler did not even know he was warned due to "hitting". For conflict resolving, it's mutual reaction. I don't think the teachers were using the right way to resolve the conflict. Although I was not on the scene, but I was really mad that 3 teachers enlarged the incident after they knew the parents informed principal. Why they can do such things to an innocent 3 years old? As a mom, afraid of being bias on the case, I was seeking advices from multiple nursery teachers who take care of my son every Sunday at church, they said my son is doing pretty good and they never see him trying to hit others in purpose. If that was the case, everybody asking me how come the teachers letting him hit "multiple times", didn't the teacher monitoring the students? How come we did not hear anything from other parents if the hit is that big? For all these nightmares, I decided to withdraw my son from this drama school due to my son was sad and did not like the school. He told me teachers do not love him. 3 years old can say this to me, it's really a serious issue. I was so disappointed of this Christian School. read more

This school is awful. The kids there show absolutely NO sign of being Christians. The regular school year is usually 2 weeks shorter than a public school year and there are 10 "teacher in service" days where the kids don't attend school and the teachers learn absolutely NOTHING. Not only does it cost so much to attend, but the regular Jr. High/High school class period is only 6.5 hrs.Take away Bible class, and you're left with only less than 6 hours. Plus, this school teaches only to the California State Standards, just like other regular public schools. They do not even bother to go OVER the state standards. All the students attending decent colleges from this school have tons of extracurricular activities. Ivy League colleges don't even bother to consider people from this school applying to them because FCS's reputation is already so bad. This school is only a burden to them. Don't go to a school where your English teacher thinks "apprehend" means something different from "comprehend" and where your Social Studies teacher gives you a blank piece of paper for a test and forces you to recreate an entire worksheet he gave you 3 months ago. You're better off attending a public school, unless you want to go to some crap college. This school only cares about what you dress like, how on-time you are to classes, and when your phone is out. If you leave early for class, you get a detention. They don't give a sh** about the academic achievements of their kids and their kids are equally bad. They only celebrate about what their sports teams won in the terrible ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) association. If some decent kids score above 5% on national tournaments such as AMC (American Mathematics Competitions), they NEVER announce it. And just as Cody R. said, AnnMarie D. DOES work there. Our 2.5 YO girl is attending FCS (pre-school). We chose this school because it is not too large and has a great teacher to student ratio. But it was after joining that we really noticed the differences that we feel separate this school from others. We have not placed our kid into other schools, but our comparison is based on parents' feedback of other schools and what we observed of children's behavior when visiting other schools during while school shopping. Favorite things we like about this FCS: 1.) The kids here are very polite, they say thank you when you open doors for them and they also hold doors open for you when they see you. They say good morning to the staff and even say hi to my daughter with a smile. We were so over focused on academics and program statistics that we didn't really think about this criteria. Of course, how do you even gauge if a school is good at teaching manners and being polite? 2.) This school has some exclusive programs that was really surprising. We were told they have a NASA Space Engineering program for High School students. FCS is 1 of 12 schools IN THE WORLD that are part of this program. Recently, the HS students went on a tour at Google to see the Google Glass project. Exclusive programs is nice, but I think these two examples really grab the kids' attention (it grabs mine at least) and feels relevant. It doesn't apply to our girl yet, but I would be excited if she were able to join some of these activities. 3.) We get regular feedback emails about our child's progress in pre-school. All the cute and embarrassing moments. Some schools have this as well, so not an exclusive, but one we like having. Overall, we are just happy with our girl's progress. She's happy there, she likes the teachers and comes back singing songs and saying her hellos, byes and giving hugs. Being in pre-school, it's hard to tell if the stats they advertise will apply to our kid as she grows. But so far, definitely happy with the staff and our daughter's development in this school. read more

My daughter attended preschool here from 2 to 4.5 years old, and her experience here prepared her well for school life, giving her a solid foundation, strong social skills, and confidence to transition into pre-K and Kindergarten. We loved it here and only left earlier this year due to a relocation! When she started the day after she turned 2, she was understandably anxious and confused. Her teachers were so caring and loving, holding her at times to comfort her and assure her. She was also potty trained within 6 months. We didn't have to do any work. One day, she just came home and knew what to do! They have a lot of fun field trips and special on-campus events throughout the year, including a science fair night where the kids get to show off their numerous projects. Everyone here makes you and your children feel welcomed, from the front desk staff to the amazing and cheerful teachers, as well as other parents. Some of my friends have asked whether there is a heavy emphasis on religion. While the Bible is discussed in the classrooms, everyone, regardless of religion, is welcomed. And in the preschool classes, the teachers are really focusing on respect, kindness, and politeness. read more

My daughter is in her 2nd year at this preschool. It gives me peace of mind to know she is in such great care. The teachers and office staff are all so warm and friendly, and I can see they really care about the children. My daughter has a food allergy, and I chose this school partially because it is a nut free campus. They are very careful about any food in the classrooms, and take careful notes of food allergies. My daughter loves school, and has learned a lot. They are even adding languages to the curriculum, which is great. The Kinder prep program is another bonus. Great communication, and amazing programs and activities, including fun and educational field trips. What else can I say? read more

If you are looking for a safe environment, this is the school in the Tri-Cities. It also has a beautiful campus. One other comment I have is that I had my kids in a area public school for 5 years before moving them to FCS in elementary school. There I was an active classroom volunteer and attended all parent meetings. While the administration was very engaged and enthusiastic, my kids didn't seem to be doing well with reading/comprehension. I felt that the district was pushing kids through school, no matter their abilities. I worked with my kids in every area but I noticed that even some of the other 4th graders at the time could not read or write well for their grade level yet got much of the classroom attention. And I also began to hear some of the kids using a lot of trash talk. That all changed in one year at FCS. My kids thrived academically and I found that the administration will go out of it's way to work with your child and insure true success. The Christian training was important to me and the foundation for everything else in life, including education and career. read more
