As the years progressed and I came to find out it isn't as good as I thought it was. Elementary school was okay because there wasn't an old lady bossing all the kids around blowing her whistle. There is an old lady who goes around handing out detentions left and right for the most unreasonable reasons. Another thing was, one of the kids was on her phone after school texting her parents and then that lady came up to her and gave her a detention. This same lady also dress codes people on the slightest things. The rest of my class and I agree that she only dress codes girls. She sees that part of someone's shoulder is being shows and runs over to them and dress codes them. Does she not know that that is the style now and not everyone dresses like a nun? You also can't wear shorts that aren't 3 inches above the knee. This is the stupidest dress code ever. For the good reasons, they're some amazing teachers. My kid really enjoyed math and said she learned a lot. He also said that he really enjoyed English in his 6th grade hyear because of the teacher. We later found out a few years ago they fired that same teacher. This school would improve a lot if they just got that old lady with white hair out of the school. Out of the things I heard and saw, she does nothing but yell at kids and complain that there is too much trash on the floor. Fire her and you will have less people leave and more people come.

I experienced ongoing bullying throughout my time there...not only from classmates but also from teachers and even the school principal (Tricia Meyer) It created an atmosphere where I constantly felt unsafe, unsupported, and isolated. The only reason I remained at the school for so long was because my parents were hesitant to transfer me. By the time they fully understood how serious the situation was, I only had two years left of high school, so I stayed until graduation. Even now, I could write pages about the experiences and the people who contributed to the bullying I endured during those years. From an academic and developmental standpoint, I also do not feel the school prepared me well for life after graduation. When I entered college, I realized how unprepared I was socially and academically compared to peers from other schools. The environment at FCS felt extremely conservative and insulated, almost like living in a bubble. It wasn't until I graduated and left that environment that I felt like I could finally start living my life and growing as a person. One additional observation: the business manager who responds to reviews on Yelp, was actually a student in my class. Given the culture and bullying that existed during our time at the school, it feels somewhat hypocritical to see someone from that same environment representing the school without acknowledging the issues that many of us experienced. Everyone's experience will be different, but based on my time there, I personally would not recommend this school.

Never, ever have I seen this lady smile and the school year is almost over. I must say this, every parent thinks there kid is an angel. Some of us refuse to see the real truth. I will be the first to say that my child is not a angel, nor is he a trouble maker. I will never say that my child or my kids are perfect, because I know deep in my heart that they are kids, and kids act up, so I know they are not perfect, but I do believe my kids are good kids. So when I see kids act up in his class, I know my kid is not the trouble maker. So when I got a letter sent home, saying that they are having a problem with him, I couldn't believe it. I even spoke with some of the volunteer parents that help out, they have even stated that my son is no where near what his teacher has made him out to be. This is the only place where they charge security deposit along with registration fee before the child starts. Due to a change in personal circumstances, we notified the school immediately that we could not continue and asked for a one-time goodwill exception or partial refund after deducting the one day of care. Ruth refused and relied strictly on the agreement, including the non-refundable deposit and 30-day notice policy. I understand the agreement has those terms, but I was very disappointed by the lack of compassion or flexibility given that our baby attended only one day. Also, during my limited interaction with the teachers, I personally did not get the warm, reassuring feeling I would expect when leaving an infant in daycare. Since my child attended only one day, I cannot speak to long-term classroom care, but my first impression did not make me feel confident to continue my child there. Parents should read the contract very carefully before enrolling. Based on my experience, Palm Academy will keep the full deposit even if your child attends only one day. I would not recommend enrolling unless you are 100% certain you will continue.

Regardless of my attempts to communicate with her, she pretended not to hear, turning her back to me in a highly disrespectful manner. Individuals who lack integrity, do not understand the importance of respect, show no sense of responsibility, and lack effective communication skills should not be in educational positions. All parents in the Bay Area must be cautious! Ruth is the biggest pitfall in this school!! I will attach the email correspondence between us to provide evidence for all the incidents mentioned above. At the time, I opted for this school due to its lower tuition and proximity to home, despite encountering numerous negative reviews on Yelp. First of all, this year, we had a temporary campus for a new campus that was still in construction. The quality was terrible. We could hear the construction from inside and when we were outside we were exposed to the dust that came from the construction it was a nightmare we also had to eat our lunch outside in the sun although they had picnic tables in PE was outside in the grass they gave many people many allergic reactions. And the grass had potholes. Many, many potholes. They have divided the MPR into five classrooms and it was really noisy. It was hard for any students there to focus at all. We were all desperately waiting for the new campus. Oh, and if you think that's bad enough, that was only this year. Last year, three teachers left the school midway two of them fired. And when they had to fire the first teacher they blamed it on the students at the school, even though they specified that they did not want the teacher fired, but they just wanted her to change her teaching habits in a way that would suit all of the students at the school. I mean, are the students not allowed to voice their concerns about the school and make it a better environment for the new students? And they're paying money to go to the school. Which brings me to my next point, the tuition. The year that the school opened, the tuition was twenty four thousand dollars. The tuition kept on increasing over the years, from twenty four thousand dollars to twenty five thousand dollars to twenty six thousand dollars and now twenty seven thousand dollars. The tuition has just been skyrocketing since the school opened. But there are upsides. And when I say upsides, I mean a lot of upsides. First of all, there are only 150 kids at the upper school. That gives teachers a lot more time to communicate with the students at the school and help them with any concepts that they do not understand. Teachers also have office hours after school to help students with any questions they may have. The teachers want the students to learn, and that's what makes this environment important. Everyone works together like one big happy family. The friendships that students make here are everlasting. If you make a friend one year, that friend will never leave your side and will always have your back. The students have such great memories of their past years, and they reminisce one their past experiences at the school. Overall, I would recommend the school for people who are committed to academics and don't care much about extracurricular activities. As BASIS grows there are more and more extracurricular activities that are emerging such as cross country basketball, volleyball, soccer, and flag football, as well as clubs that are offered by the school. Very different compared to other schools I toured. We were placed on a waiting list, enrolled our daughter at another preschool in the meantime and and nearly 18 months later we got a call saying there was an opening for her. Our daughter is extremely shy and has anxiety. Mr. Justin was the head teacher in her class at the time and was so wonderful in guiding and helping her. We chose to keep her at MVM through kindergarten because our younger daughter was also attending and we didn't want to have 2 separate drop off/pick ups. Fast forward to 2025 and we have ended our journey with MVM. Our girls have really enjoyed their time at this school. They have learned so much more than we could have imagined and have made some great friends. In addition to reading, writing (cursive too!) and math, they have been taught how to work with each other and independently, daily life skills, grace and courtesy. The environment is always calm and organized. The teachers and staff are so sweet and it really feels like you're part of a family. There aren't enough words to express our deepest gratitude for all that the MVM staff and teachers have provided for our family.
