Wow. These guys are fantastic at what they do. I worked with Sean and Megan who originally are from the University location but my Dad's funeral took place at the Lomas location. The Lomas location is really beautiful and the chapel hold around 200 (I think). I think this might be the very best of all French's locations. I don't know...but it looked great to me. Sean and Megan are so compassionate and helpful. When I first started the planning process I was overwhelmed with grief (not sleeping or eating well) which resulting in some serious brain fog. They were very patient with me even when I asked the same question over and over or cried to them about my dad. They helped me come up with ideas for my Dad's service and it ended up being a beautiful celebration of life. I am so grateful to them for creating such a wonderful service. Their After Care Service is also fantastic. They help you with anything you need to take care of after a loved one died. They do a lot of it themselves and send you a check list if the things you need to take care of yourself. Very very helpful. read more

My aunt just died tonight. So far my experience is lousy. They initially said they would be here in 60-90 minutes. Now they tell me it will be more than three hours. It's been a long week and this is simply uunacceptable service. read more

My grandmother prepaid her funeral many years ago. When she passed in December some of the situations had changed, and thus the arrangements, resulting in credit due my family. Nearly 3 months later and we have yet to receive the money owed us. I have reached out to the funeral director several times and he assures me that he has reached out to billing to process the refund. Yet, nothing. I don't recommend using French as you cannot trust them with the financial end of your funeral. read more

Stephanie Sena Dyck (Wyoming Blvd) was so wonderful to our family when my brother passed unexpectedly. She was very professional and guided our shocked family through everything that needed to happen, but was also sincerely caring and worked hard to make sure we were able to say goodbye. We were able to view our brother and escort him to his cremation, which was emotionally extremely important. She checked in with us periodically and made sure she was available whenever we had questions or needed something. This is not a service you hope to need, but they are great at what they do. read more

The staff at French was kind and professional until it came to my loved one's urn. The urn we were given at our remembrance was very different from the one we purchased. It was not nearly as nice as the display model we had picked out. The funeral director said that the only thing we could do would be to purchase another urn. The manager did not return my calls. I cannot say enough positive about this company relative to all it provided for my mother. Funeral Director Richard Stewart was spot-on from the beginning to the end, demonstrating incredible attention to detail to everything in such a professional kind and caring manner. Everything occurred exactly as it was supposed to, when it was supposed to, perfectly executed. If asked what could have been done better, I honestly could not say. Mom had great run and a good life, but still, her end wasn't easy for her family. Having French attend to her and all the details made a hugely positive difference. David Cruz and the staff at French Mortuary (1111 University) were so helpful throughout our emotionally challenging experience. From our first planning visit through the complex arrangements for a rosary, eulogies, reception, funeral mass, and graveside service, David provided helpful suggestions and behind-the-scenes management that resulted in beautiful services from my late brother. I'm grateful in particular for his suggestion to use the French chapel and reception hall which enabled us more flexibility. David also enabled a beautiful slide show to be presented during the rosary service. There are so many details to address, so being able to easily collaborate with David to anticipate, or at least effectively respond to last minute issues, became essential. I used their location on Golf Course Rd. I went back to French because they took care of my sister in 2017. I came back in August 2021 with my Father. The price had doubled and it took 9 visits to get everything right and my sister was just 2 visits. With my sister they had me identify the body by photo, with my father they made me come in person. I had been the one that turned him over to the staff and had identified him then. They put makeup and everything on him when there was no need. Then they kept changing the paperwork and adding more costs. I asked for full military honors and only got taps. They had told me that they knew how to arrange all of this and they did not. Veterans the VFW and the American Legion will come and render a gun salute even if your relative did not serve 20 years. The going back and forth made me have a nightmare where I was told they cremated the wrong body and I needed to come in and identify Dad again, in the dream I opened the coffin and there was my sister and my Dad. The final insult came when they called to ask how the service was at the national cemetery and I was asked "How was your Mother's service?" DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE I DID! GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT FRENCH!!!! read more

David Cruz and his colleagues at French did a fantastic job helping our family celebrate the life of Bill Norris. They reserved the Veterans Memorial park, scheduled military honors, published the obituary and catered the event. Making it extra special, David arranged for my brother's "last ride" to be via the custom ChoppHearse, a beautiful motorcycle equipped with a sidecar to carry the coffin. Nothing could have pleased Billy more than to be taken to his final resting place in such style. I could not recommend French's services more highly.
