Wow!! We came on a whim. So happy we did! Darla was phenomenal!! We tasted almost all the sweets. Loved the Rhubarb razzle and French Lick white the best. Staff was phenomenal!! Very friendly and informative. Got to try unlimited wine samples for $6 or spirits for $2 each. They had 5 different slushies available and even their take on a margarita using bourbon. They also sell fresh fudge and cute souvenirs made from the Amish near by. Spirits of French Lick is what I am reviewing. I called, per the website, for a Saturday tour and was given options for 12, 1, or 2. I opted for noon. Upon arrival, I was checked in and received basically a private tour, as it was only me on the distillery tour. My tour guide was knowledgeable and talkative. The tour last about an hour and went through the usual distillery tour items, mash bill, fermentation, bottling, Rick house, etc. It was informative of the history of the distillery (about 6 years old) and the products. The tasting was great. You get 5 tastes of your choice, but my guide provided me with some "extras," which were appreciated. All in all, this old warehouse looking place was a fun tour and tasting. BEWARE of this place. Stopped by on Friday, Oct. 24th. They have a regular tasting for $3.00 for 5 of your choice. Very reasonable. They have another tasting for $6.50 for all of their wines, about 20 in total. This also very reasonable They show a flight on the menu, asked about this also and this includes 5 with more of the wine in each. No price given, ( did not ask the price, HUGE mistake). So we each ( wife and I ) got a flight with 5 tastings of your choice. You could tell amount was more for each, maybe about 3- 3.5 times. Price, $45.00 each flight, yes $45.00. This breaks down to $9.00 per tasting vs. the $3.00 for 5, which is about .60 cents for each taste. They said because of higher amount, just under $10.00 per glass. They do not seem to know the wines, just some labor being employed, one did not even look 21 yrs. STAY away, try something different even if you have to drive a ways to get there. They DON'T serve food here so I'm hoping I saved you a trip. But the Bartenders were great and very knowledgeable of the Wine and Spirits! We came during a $6 unlimited wine tasting special which was fantastic! They have some great wine and cocktails! Only thing about this place is that I was slightly misled thinking there would be food here? We had to leave during our tasting to get some food then comeback. I was looking forward to their "pizza" as I seen a lot of prior old mentions about how great their pizza was, but I believe they stopped pizza making so keep that in mind! If you are visiting French Lick Indiana then you must stop into the French Lick Winery. As we walked in, we were greeted with a question of if we are tasting or dining? We did both. As we were guided to a large wrap around bar a young lady greeted us with options to taste wine or spirits. We said both. She knew her information very well. The tastings were 10 wines for $8 and up to 4 spirits at $2 each. Wer even found a bottle in their gift shop of wine and bourbon that we tasted. We bought both. After the tastings we sat in their dining area. Which was not that impressive from a décor perspective but the place was open and clean. We ordered mozzarella sticks and mini crab cakes. (Only on the "secret" menu). ;) As you would guess, they were phenomenal. If you're looking for a break from the Casino or the dome head here and grab a signature cocktail ( the necromancer) and taste some wines and spirits and maybe some appetizers. I went 2x. Once when we got into town with my husband (celebrating the BIG 40!) and once with my sister in law. The first experience was wonderful! We had Della & she is the Foch-ing BEST! She was personable and offered great suggestions and even had a great sense of humor. The next day I took my sister in law there and we waited patiently for Della to finish up her party just so we could have her again. She is a great human. I tried different ones this time & she even talked to us about the Bloody Mary mix they carry. If you're looking for some good wine & a fun atmosphere go here & see Della! I'm a big wine person. I love wine. So when I'm visiting West Baden Springs Hotel and I see that I'm half a mile away from a winery, I visit. I'm THERE. This review should almost be two different reviews, because they have wine tasting for adults, and then they also have a restaurant that's located inside the winery that is all ages. So I guess I'll start with the restaurant. The restaurant serves Italian food. If I had to do it all again, I would order what my husband got, which is the calzone. The calzone is really, really good. The crust was crispy yet tender, and the filling was hot and gooey and proportionate to the crust. I got the meatball sub, which was fine, but to tell you the truth, I couldn't even remember what I had ordered without the help of my camera roll on my phone. Thank goodness I took a photo of my meal before I ate it! I love meatball subs almost as much as I love wine, and this one was fine but it lives in the shadow of the calzone. So what I'm trying to tell you is that you should get the calzone. They have a kids menu here, so kids are absolutely welcome at the restaurant. If you are wondering whether or not this would be a place to take children: Don't hesitate for a second. Bring your children. This is a great restaurant for the family. After our meal, I sent my family back to the hotel while I moseyed on over to the wine bar to sample some wines by myself. For the wine tasting, I chose to sample 10 different wines, and it was something like $6 or $8 dollars. (I don't remember! Wine!) The man who poured my wine samples was very helpful, and I told the guy that I do not like sweet wines, and that I only wanted to sample dry wines, and he audibly breathed a sigh of relief because apparently most people like sweet wines? So apparently I made his day. He told me a little about each one and what they would be good with, and he also gave me a little pile of chocolates to eat with the wines. At the end of the tasting, he gave me a complimentary taste of their vodka. From start to finish, the wine tasting took about 15 minutes. I suppose it could take longer if you have questions and really stop and savor your wine. Afterward, I bought a few bottles of wine in their shop (located near the restaurant) based on the samples that I had tasted. If you are visiting the winery and you're also staying at West Baden Springs Hotel or French Lick Hotel, there is a free shuttle that will take you to and from the winery 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So there is absolutely no need to drive yourself -- just relax and enjoy as much wine as you'd like. read more

Had a girls weekend in French Lick area and of course had to make a stop at the local winery. Come early because this place gets packed! With COVID, they are only running 4 tasting spots so it can be a little tricky to get in for a tasting. Luckily we arrived around 11:30 AM and were able to head right to the tasting bar. They have a variety of local wines and you can have 10 tastings for $8 or 5 tastings for $4. The spaces are a little cramped for tasting so if you have a large party you will probably have to split up between the different tasting windows. After the tasting we grabbed a table and ate lunch there. The food was decent, they have a ton of options of food for being a winery. Everything was good size and decently priced. We ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer and it was a little too oniony for my liking. Wine flight came with 5 different wines for $15 so a great option to try a lot and to share. This pizza is called the BRONX. Very fresh ingredients especially the mushrooms they were not chewy they was very fresh. Plenty of mozzarella cheese that is for sure. The sauce was pretty sweet , I like a good Italian tanginess. I had a nice glass of white wine that paired well with this pie. The dough was a little bit chewy but I could tell it was fresh and homemade. It had a nice undercarriage could have stayed in just another minute or two. I've been here several times and have had great experiences every time. This visit I was with a girlfriend and we were in town and decided to swing by for a wine tasting. We were served almost immediately upon going up to the bar. Some days they are very busy and you may have to wait for a spot to open up to do a tasting. They have several dry, semi sweet and sweet wines to choose from and they also do spirit tastings as well. I've become more of a dry wine drinker as I've aged so that is the only things I tried. The Pinot Grigio was really fresh and delicious and I ended up purchasing a couple bottles to take home with me. Along with the wines and spirits they also have wine slushies that you can sample and purchase if you are so inclined. I was not a fan of the slushies. They do have a small cafe on site as well where you can sit down and order food and enjoy a glass or bottle of wine. They have a small gift shop area as well and you are able to purchase any of the wines that they make. If you are there at the right time you can watch them bottling and labeling the wines which is pretty cool. read more

The Vintage Café could get away with plain, boring food if they wanted to. I mean, French Lick Winery and Spirits of French Lick are already a must-go if you're in West Baden, so if you start sampling those amazing wine and spirits around any meal time, you're basically their captive audience. We were quite hungry when we arrived in the afternoon, so we decided to take a chance on lunch at The Vintage Café before taking a turn around the tasting room. I'm so glad we gave them a try because this little eatery far exceeded our expectations! The menu offers a great variety of Mediterranean-inspired foods. The chicken mozzarella sandwich I ordered was both filling (did I mention we came hungry?) and delicious, piled with juicy breast meat and toasted to perfection. Where I might have expected potato chips as a side (standard fare for a lunch café), I was pleasantly surprised to have an option of couscous, which was flavorful, filled with veggies and herbs, and topped with parmesan. After our lunch, we visited their tasting room to sip and savor their diverse selection. Our server was so friendly and knowledgeable, and helped us find a few favorite beverages. We also enjoyed hearing the stories that inspired their spirits. I expect this will be our first of many visits! read more

Owner should update the Winery descriptor page to reflect that Vintage Cafe is no longer available and in its place is a sub par shadow of its former self. read more

First things first, don't go to the bartender Della because she age discriminates. We walked in with smiling faces and left with less smiling faces only due to the amazing wine. We wanted a good experience but were treated very poorly as soon as we started asking about the wine tasting. We eventually rethought the tasting and switched our selection to getting a wine flight due to the lack of service in a timely manner and were found that we had to repeat our selections more than once due to this bartender servicing everyone but us during this process. We noticed she was very courteous to the older crowds and it seemed she was intentionally trying to avoid us in addition to being very short in conversation. In conclusion, the wine was so good but the service was definitely not due to this particular bartender. read more

The French Lick/West Baden Springs area has a lot of restaurants you can describe as "good for French Lick." Meaning that, within the context of what is available in the general area of French Lick (including the resorts and the towns of French Lick and West Baden Springs), the restaurant is "good." Basically meaning they are charging you a more appropriate price than the resorts, but are still going to be lacking in quality or service. Often both. This does NOT apply to the French Lick Winery. The winery serves excellent food. I have never had a disappointing meal here. The pasta dishes are great. The Alfredo sauce is top notch. The pizza was really, really good. The house-made Bourbon Cake probably requires an ID check because you can taste the bourbon on it. The girlfriend said she saw our server pour some over the cake. And you could tell. This is a restaurant I would frequent...well, frequently if I lived near it. The wine is probably the only Indiana based winery that I've really enjoyed. The meals are fresh and filling without being obscene in portion or price. That they also now distill hard liquor is a bonus. This is a really good restaurant experience. If you're in the area and are looking for a good restaurant experience, take an early lunch (only open until 5 for most of the week) and come here. There is a small lunch menu offering smaller portions with a reduced price. read more

We were hesitant to visit French Lick Winery because neither Jeffrey nor I like wine and we were with the girls. I'm SO glad we did though because it was our favorite meal of the trip! We started off with Pan Bigio and herb oil to dip it in. I could have just had an entire meal of that, it was so amazing! We'd heard how amazing the pizza was so we gave it a try. It was the best pizza I've ever had. The crust was made with a sourdough starter from Naples and I've never tasted better pizza crust. After lunch, we split a few desserts, including the chocolate lava cake and the rum cake. All I can say is that I wish they were bigger because they were so good! If you're not a wine drinker, they have lots of spirits that were made in house as well. I loved the Fizzy Pineapple vodka-based cocktail I had and Jeffrey loved his Pecan Bourbon cocktail. We didn't do any tastings or tours but those are available. They also have a shop where you can buy their bottles of wine and champagne as well as other gifts. read more

The French lick winery was like nothing I would have expected! I'm not sure what I was truly expecting but this winery blew it out or the water. Not only is it a winery but they also produce their own liquors too- something I didn't know! They offer a tastings bar for wine and liquors with light snacks. The tastings are very reasonably priced and I would recommend trying both!!! Sample a few options and then purchase your favorite bottles for take home. While taking day trips around central Indiana, I always enjoy finding local wineries to stop by. I didn't realize this one had a large dining area as well as a wine shop and tasting area. So, no food review from me on this trip. But I did try the wine tasting across the board from Dry White & Red to the Sweet wines. I didn't hit a clunker in any of the tastings, though out of the eight ($6), I only had a couple that I found unique enough to consider buying a whole bottle. I settled on the Heaven's View Bella Vista (Semi-sweet made with fruit grown 20 miles away), a Cayuga and Vignoles blend with a peach/pineapple flavor that was enjoyable, yet not so sweet that a glass would be too much. McDonald's across the street has better food. Went out with a couple friends here, and all the food was a disappointment. The club sandwich didn't have any cheese on it, and was not pieced together correctly. The pork sandwich and lasagna were something off the Walmart shelf. We also ordered cheese fries that were frozen fries with craft Parmesan cheese on top. You can come for yourself and experience the sadness or just take my recommendation and don't go! read more
