We found this place in Ankeny through research and were extremely pleased with the results! We visited on our first day in town and found our spot, as Fresh Fit Meals checks all the boxes we sought. It starts with the store manager, Jenny, who is a terrific human but also provides great customer service due to her awareness, enthusiasm, and customer service. Her store is roomy, clean, and comfortable. Plenty of parking is adjacent. Multiple tables are inside, and a microwave is available if you're eating in. Many prefer their Grab n Go option. They also have a nutritionist (Becca) on staff to aid your habits and health. The large menu includes identified new items, and they offer local delivery (which we will do once moved). All items are nicely displayed in their wall-length fridge, and there were no sales-type moves by Jenny throughout. I selected the Blackened Cajun Salmon, which was tremendous, aided by delicious greens and mashed potatoes. No doubt, down the line, they will have loyal customers we live here. read more

So fresh! I was impressed with my protein smoothie. Ordered the Blueberry Almond Dream smoothie with an added vegan protein boost. Total came to $7.xx before gratuity The smoothies are water and ice based with added real fruit and ingredients. Then the protein is an added powder. There are some smoothies that contain yogurt which then is milk based. Many to-go meals to choose from with different food types. I saw seafood options and even vegan/vegetarian options! Service was very nice. Shop was very clean. Easy to find a meal in the coolers. And, conveniently, there are microwaves for you to heat up your meal if needed. A couple tables and chairs for dine-in. There is a kitchen that prepares the meals in house and looked very well maintained. There was a chef cooking in the back while we were there. I really like the concept of the shop!! Very interesting and almost Japan-like. I highly recommend Fresh Fit Meals and a wonderful alternative to traditional fast food. I bought two chicken meals. One was a bowl and the other stuffed chicken. They were both dry and tasteless - not a fan.

This place didn't look inviting - it looked like a cold, impersonal scientific laboratory or something. No photos of smoothies or anything. The girl with the long strawberry blonde hair was not friendly. The drink (Fit Green) tasted like old, dirty ice. read more

Having a store designed for prepped, ready-to-go meals is super neat! They have lots of variety and all of their food is on the healthier side. The portions look a little smaller than average, but honestly, it ended up being a perfect size. The prices are very affordable. Staff was friendly. You are able to microwave your meal in-store. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that it is sometimes challenging to cook the meals evenly (especially with a meat) and no matter what you buy, you ARE reheating the meal, which brings down the quality just a tad. I have been eyeing this place since it has opened and see that is open when I drive to work at 5 30 AM. The day I decide to stop in it is closed, even though it says they open at 5:30 AM. Business hours shows it opens at 5:30 AM and I stopped by at 5 :45 AM. There is fridges along the wall with pre-made and packaged meals ranging from breakfast, lunch and dinner items. There are also pre portion snacks as well. There is a variety of items to choose. There was no one around to greet or explain process when we arrived. It does not appear that you can order meals and have it cooked right there. There is microwaves and tables for you to in. I decided to purchase a medium turkey chili and was not disappointed. I was expecting bland food, but had good flavor and spice to it. After a few minutes someone came out to cash us out, but the person advised us that he was the cook and does not normally cash people out. This process took awhile since he did not know how to use system. I will try to come again and hopefully they have kinks worked out. read more

LOVE THIS FRESH + HEALTHY GRAB & GO! Traveling to Illinois w my 4 kids, this place was a beacon in a sea of gas stations & fast food restaurants. I love that you can get essentially things we would cook at home. Fresh, healthy & normal portion sizes. You'll pay more for your food here than fast food but it's worth it for us to eat what we like. Staff was super friendly & even filled our water bottles. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I would love to see a recycling option for the meal containers. It felt so wasteful to toss so many plastic containers in the trash. Even switching to a paper container like Whole Foods uses for their hot & cold bar would be a great option. We'll def be back! read more

I frequently grab lunch from Fresh Fit Meals, and I have been so happy with all of my meals. Aaron and his team have always been super friendly and helpful. There is a pretty wide selection of meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Things are labeled for Carb Conscious, Gluten Free, Dairy Free, etc. The macros and ingredients are listed on every package and there is an expiration date printed as well. The containers are microwave safe and I have been saving them to reuse at home. They also recently rolled out a rewards program, which I think is an excellent idea to keep loyal customers. I'm really digging the healthy to go fast food concept that seems to be popping up everywhere. I often travel for work and it's awesome to find a healthy alternative on the road that's open late!!! Honestly I really wanted to give this place a solid 1 star but the staff was so amazing and helpful. You can sense that they genuinely have a love for their job and customer service! The food however was not what I expected for a "healthy fit meal". The concept of each meal was there providing many options within breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Even the pickiest eaters will find something. The problem is the Macros that are within each meals. They are horrific!! There is so much fat, tons of sugar, and ridiculous amounts of sodium. I'm floored that this place think these are healthy meals they are serving to customers. Who ever is setting the menus really need to re evaluate and team up with a "certified" dietitian and re-do these meals. There are many ways to make food flavorful and healthy at the same time being low fat, low salt, etc... Most importantly CLEAN! I'm not sure if I did better coming here or if I should have gone to other typical burger fast food joints. read more

Had a great first experience at Fresh Fit Meals! Each employee was very observant and willing to help walk us through the process. Meals are made ahead of time and prepackaged with ingredients and how long to heat it up in the microwave, making it easy to grab and go or to heat up in one of their microwaves. I got the steak and veggies. The steak had a nice spice to it and the variety of veggies (zucchini, mushrooms, artichokes) were delicious! This place is fantastic! I stopped in this evening after my workout as I wanted to pick up a breakfast for the morning. I was planning on getting chipotle for dinner, but after I saw all the tasty meals I ended up grabbing 2 breakfasts, shrimp and sausage jambalaya, Max's Mac and cheese, and jalapeño deviled eggs. As I got in my car, I decided to try 1 of my 4 deviled eggs...just in case I was still considering chipotle. As I bit into the egg, I was a little thrown off by the texture, but that didn't last long as my taste buds were engulfed in flavorful deliciousness. Before I had even gotten out of the parking lot all 4 deviled eggs had made their way into my stomach..dang those were good. When I got home I popped Max's Mac and Cheese in the microwave and after 1 minute 30 seconds it was piping hot and ready for me to eat. I am so happy I found a place that not only offers fresh and healthy take home meals BUT ones that taste good for that matter. The meals are displayed in coolers based on the protein included, which makes it very fast to go in and grab what you want.
