We always see the sign for this place while driving to Des Moines, but it has always been closed due to winter. When we finally were going to Des Moines during when they're open, we made an effort to try the restaurant. Stopping was definitely worth it! They have a set menu based on the produce that's available to harvest, but the way the created the recipes around the produce and chicken was really delicious! They service here was super friendly and fast. The son of the people who started this place explained all about the farm and their food. What a beautiful location. Small venue restaurant, fixed daily menu based on what's frowning, and SO well seasoned that I have to eat slowly to taste all the flavors. This was an amazing place. They have only one meal but it is well balanced and serves whatever is fresh in the garden. The meal was entirely gluten free (as was the dessert). We had been traveling for a while and this was the first meal that felt like a home cooked meal. I'm not sure if people in the surrounding towns don't know about this place, or if the owners don't really understand what they have here. After eating here, I'm surprised at the line wasn't down the block, and the food didn't cost four times as much. They have a beautiful space, with all the plants growing outside and chickens roaming free. The food consisted of a single plate option with five or so components, and each one was better than the last. Lots of great Indian inspired farm fresh food, and the chicken is the most tender flavorful chicken I've had in my entire life. Nice distanced picnic table seating too. This place is really a treat. If I'm ever within an hours drive of here, I'll be back. read more

What a lovely restaurant and what wonderful proprietors! We found this restaurant/farm via the yelp app as we drove home from vacation, and we were very happy that we did. The restaurant is perfectly positioned to the north, just off exit 117 along highway 80. It's a good place to stop if you are traveling on 80. The menu is fixed and at a reasonable price. It's also cash only (there's an ATM just south at the local gas station). We ate every bit of our chicken dish; so nicely slow-cooked that it fell off the bone. The accompanying chick peas, potato chutney and falafel were delicious. For more adventuresome souls, their hot sauce is delicious, tasty and will make you sweat (it's also for sale in nice little jars!). For those people from Des Moines, you owe it to yourselves to check this place out since it's only 15-20 minutes west of the metro. You are a lucky bunch to have such a unique and tasty place so close to your city; enjoy it! read more

We saw a sign for Organic Farm Restaurant on the highway so we pulled off and made the short 1mile trek to this idyllic little farm. We were warmly greeted when we arrived by the lovely chef . We sat outside at the covered picnic tables after having played with the adorable chickens ...the hens coupled w the symphony of the cicadas melted the stresses of the week away. The food was amazingly delicious and you could FEEL the nutritious energy with every bite! If you get a chance .. Come here! This is a center for learning about the healing qualities of food and preventive medicine. We also picked up some beautiful organic lavender and lemongrass beauty products.
