They were unusually dense - not the fluffy, airy interior I expect from a fresh donut. I'm not sure whether the dough needed more rise time or a different balance in the recipe, but something in the process made everything feel heavier than it should've. Inside is lively and very much a breakfast spot, not just a donut-and-run joint. You've got people ordering plates, grabbing coffee, chatting, and the whole place has that small-town morning energy. I'm fairly sure there was an assortment in the box, but I wasn't going to be the new guy AND the picky guy, so I just randomly grabbed one. I happened to pick what I can only assume was Bavarian cream and immediately wanted to be THAT new guy and get more. I didn't do that, though. But the croissant was flakey and the cream was perfect. The following week, I tried to drop by before my shift. I followed my GPS to the strip mall it is located in.
